i really wanted to like this, i really did! so i pushed through it all in one night, but admittedly there is but one major flaw - Bucchigiri's Protagonist red named Arajin, or Ara-chan. Sad truth is that when your main Character is shit it makes or breakes the whole Thing. This Dilemma reminded me a lot of Black Clover's Asta and his goddamn annoying voice (literally worst cast for seiyuu in all history). Black Clover's saving grace was that there were enough episodes to eventually forget About Asta's annoying voice and see the beauty of the whole Thing.
In Bucchigiri we're not that blessed. Let
...
me explain.
With Bucchigiri being an Original, there was no source material to work with, which is Always a hurdle for Anime productions. Utsumi Hiroko (best known for SK8 the Infinity, Banana Fish, Free!) had been working on a Project at Studio Bones when Mappa came around and essentially snatched her from Bones. Knowing this it makes sense that she admitted in an Interview to not being as invested in Bucchigiri's creational process, which is felt throughout the series. (Theres a real good comment under the reddit post for the discussion on ep. 12)
Overall the Worldbuilding is decent, set at a deliquent school with two groups at rivalry and a third one emerging from the Shadows, we follow Arajin who just transferred to said school on bis Adventure to find cute babes. He encounters but one - Mahoro, a wicked girl with a seeeerious case of bro-con issues. Whom he wish he didn't encounter there but ultimately does is Matakara, a boy he knew from bis childhood days, when they had trained to become "Honkibito (本気人)". The Concept of Honkibito follows the legend of truly strong fighters, here visualized as two genies by the name of Senya (red) and Ichiya (blue).
So far so good, thats about all you need to know about the premise of this show. But here is where the Problem starts -
First, "Honkibito". Left untranslated throughout the show and never really explained, i've come across a lot of confused reviews of People who didn't get what the creators were playing at. It is hard to translate into one smooth wird, which probably is why it was legt unchamged, but it basically It translates into "People who are strong because they sincerely, earnestly face whats before them". I wasn't too bothered by the fact it was legt untranslated, but i can see how most People get confused by that.
Second, the shallowness of it all, when in reality it isn't shallow at all. What I mean by that is the struggles at the foundation of Arajin’s and Matakara’s relationship are proper and serious, but remain a concept only and are not fleshed out properly. Matakara as a child is pretty weak and seeks to become strong. Arajin, enticed by the legend of Honkibito and Matakara’s deeprooted desire to become strong, gets pulled along, only to be desillusioned when Matakara gets bullied by upperclassman and instead of running to his rescue, Arajin turns his back and runs away, the guilt of it all eating away at him even 10 years later. Not wanting to face his past and the guilt he’s feeling he tries to drown everything in his search for love (that is why he is so desperate to pick up cute babes).
In my opinion, the base could have become real strong if they had focused on developing a proper storyline behind it – instead we get a lot of Arajin trying to run away. This too does serve a purpose, because in the end he stops running away to face his past and his feelings, but it’s a major pain to watch Arajin being a selfdestructive, horny bastard for 10 episodes, before he’s ready to face Matakara. The story would’ve been more pleasant to watch if there actually had been a proper story going on between Arajin and Matakara.
The series is a blast, the entire cast real funny and entertaining, it really comes down to the bad exploration of Arajin and Matakara's relationship htat makes it less enjoyable.
This could have been a real gem yet instead suffered majorly due to productional issues especially regarding the relationship of our two main leads. I’m eagerly waiting for the day, they’ll announce a remake, because it deserve a better version.
My recommendation – maybe put this off until there is a remake, or work through all the wrongdoings on this one, but it won’t be all to pleasant.

If you're expecting to get wowzed with a Transformation of the BNHA universe you might be wrong here.
If you like the Universe, the cast of UA's Class A, the intense fight Scenes and maybe even the core element of friendship and Supporting each other, then you better stay and watch.
You can expect more or less the same as from the other movies so far - Studio Bones once again gave it their all with insane Animations for our heros' fights. What I loved about this are two things in particular, which is also why this received such a high rating from me (just
...
me bring a fangirl i guess).
1) Vaundy (i really stan hin) had the honour to perform both opening (Homunculus) and ending (gift). I had listenend to the song right after Release, so to realize today that it was the op-theme for this movie made me incredibly happy for him to be so successful!
2) Miyano Mamoru *squeal* voices Giulio, the ML for this Movie. A Bonus for this movie is Giulio's and Anna's Story with just the right amount of emotions involved.
You won't get anything new with "BNHA - You're Next!" And the plot is argueably on the thinner side, But it's just as good as any old Hollywood Movie racking in tons of views for thin plotlines inflated with lots of explosions. It does the Trick.

Ok, so this is bad. Like, real trash. won't get any trashier than this. BUT despite the animation being super sucky, sound nothing special and a clichee-story from start to finish - I still got hooked.
I found the characters to be quite amusing, and somehow the story progresses nicely. Pacing sucks, and have i said the animations sucks? But in the end I'm sitting here, thinking, 'it wasn't that bad'.
If you're really bored and got nothing else to watch, then i'd recommend you give it a shot, if you're up for an isekai Harem with op protagonist starting ep.1 then do it. if
...
not, you won't miss a thing.

So Sarazanmai is a prime example for anime that is . It challenges your taste in things on so many different levels. I personally was very impressed at how this turned out in the end.
Story:
The world is set in an alternate universe of Asakusa, Tokyo, and takes you through the turbulent life of Kazuki, Tooi and Enta. In the first episode they encounter keppi, the prince of kappa, a frog-like youkai in japanese mythology. He abruptly turns them into kappa and sends them onto their first mission to fight a kappa-zombie, some kind of currupted kappa.
In this show the topics of Hope and
...
Desire play an immense role, being exampled during the various missions and their connecting thread being weaved by memories. They earn a Dish of Hope everytime they defeat a zombie, all wanting to make a wish for a certain someone - to be able to do that you'd have to colect five.
During the first half of the show it's pacing is rather slow and the adventures have a day-to-day character, tho this picks up rapedly when the policemen Mabu, Reo and the mean Otters get introduced in the second half. Everything gets pretty messed up from there, the show goes kinda currepted itself, as it turns dark.
Characters:
At first it does have a 'slice-of-life'y character, with allows you to meet the characters in interesting situations, getting to know their darkest secrets as a side-effect of the kappa-transformation. Kazuki and Enta are your average Middle-School-Boys, whereas Tooi is the typical Outlaw and Rebel. All of them carry rather heavy secrets with them and all act to protect that person involved.
Keppi on the other Hand is the very embodiment of Hope, with a huge queer vibe about him, which garantuees a couple laughs, if you open up to this show and its weirdness.
Art:
Contrary to the dark and depressing mood of the plot, the artstyle brightens everything up in a second, as it's super colourful and flashy. Certainly not everybodies style, but all in all very cute and unique. You'll encounter kappa.zon, the amazon of their times, chubby lil forg-like-beings or mean police, that dance and sing at least twice an episode (which is hilarious in my opinion!), or keppi, who is just random af.
Music:
Both Opening and Ending are a bop! Kana-Boon, best known for their music in the naruto-franchise, open Saranzanmai with an upbeat tune that raises your mood. The Peggies finish with a rocksong on the softer, melancholic side. The animation in it highlights the standard of visual effects thats used throughout the show. As I've already mentioned, this also has a bit of musical influence too, as they sing and dance on a regular basis. This on the other hand is a more challenging aspect for the seiyuu's. Miyano Mamoru, who's lent his voice to Kida Masaomi (Durararara) Dazai Osamu (Bungou Stray Dogs) and Yagami Light (Death Note) lends his voice to Reo, one of the police dudes, Kazuki gets voiced by Murase Ayumu, who's voiced Shounen Protagonists such asa Hinata Shouto from Haikyuu oder Inamori Asuto from Inazuma Eleven.
Conclusion:
It's one hell of a ride tbh. But if you learn to embrace the weirdness at max level, it turns into an actual and heartwarming story, told in a very abstract yet emotional way. I didn't know what I was in for when I started this, since i didn't watch neither Sailor Moon nor Utena, but I remember watching the first episode, mailing my soulmate regarding weird animestuff and recommending him to watch it. He was as hooked by it as i was. As I said in the beginning, I really liked how this turned out in the end, everything connects just nicely, because that all it is about - Connections. And everything connects in the end.
