Both portrait the human mind in a very organic and intense way, exploring depression, sexuality, suicide, love, illness and family issues, and both have a main character constantly trying to find a meaning in life and happines, only to find themselves deeper and deeper into despair and self-depreciation. Don't let yourself get fooled by the fact that Oyasumi Punpun is a slice of life or the first rather "happy and goofy" chapters. If you loved Eva, you will love Punpun even more!
