I’m not alone when I say this, but One Piece is the best shōnen of the previous, current, and next generation. That’s just objective truth. Still, for the sake of argument, I’m gonna try and tackle all the issues I’ve heard about One Piece over the past few years from the people around me who just refuse to watch the show. This is not gonna be a normal review. I’m gonna talk about why one should give One Piece a try instead of a review on One Piece itself.
POV: - I just had an argument with my friend about this so
...
yea I’m kinda emotional.
1. “It’s too long”
Ummmm Naruto in total with Shippuden has 720 episodes but I don’t hear anyone complaining about that… so I think this is a very pretentious argument to make. Yes, I would agree that it is quite long but it’s not a very legitimate argument to make considering a lot of other long-running shows out there. Furthermore, Oda himself wanted to make a long-running series from the very beginning and you can clearly see if you watch/read one piece that his passion for his work has not dwindled. If anything, you can say that the man has too many ideas. 21 years later and he does not seem to be running out of ways to make the story more entertaining and engaging. When it comes to some other shows (cough cough Bleach), towards the end of the manga you can clearly see that the author was basically milking the sh*t out it to put out whatever idea that first comes to his head. This is not the case with One Piece. 1000+ chapters later and the quality of Oda’s work has not been tarnished in any way, shape, or form.
2. “The art is bad”
Y’all realize the first episode came out more than 20 years ago right… If you are talking about the "Quality" of the art style in later episodes though, yes, I guess I understand. Art is subjective, some like it some don’t so it’s nothing anyone can do anything about. But what you should understand is that the production staff are trying to produce a THOUSAND+ chapters as quickly as possible for us the viewers to watch. So, does it sometimes look rushed and unpolished? Yes. But is it something Unwatchable? F*uck No. The art isn’t exceptional or anything but it’s as good as it can be for a long-running shōnen anime. Also, HUH??? When did art suddenly become a reason to not watch an anime? Cough Code Geass Cough Clannad
3. “The pacing is bad”
This is a legitimate problem. The anime operates in a 1 chapter to 1 episode ratio. There is a lot of information to cover from each chapter so it doesn’t feel like a drag at least but this is something that I can’t really defend One-Piece for cuz yes, the anime is guilty of this. For the most part, it’s fine and you are not gonna notice it while you’re legitimately enjoying the show, but I did a scene-by-panel comparison to some scenes and yes, it’s awful how they drag the sh*t out of it sometimes. The operative word is "sometimes".
4. “The Fanservice”
Alright you f*cking saints don’t act like y’all don’t enjoy it. I personally don’t really care about it nor am I bothered by it but if the occasional salacious moment is something that turns you off… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ One Piece isn’t for you. To add a little more to this though if you haven’t heard anyone say this about One Piece, No, it’s not as provocative as some people make it out to be. It’s more of a comedic distraction. Can you really blame Oda for drawing girls with insanely huge boobs and comedically slim waists? No lmao let the man do what he wants to do. I’m not complaining, and neither should you.
5. “The manga is so much better”
NO SH*T SHERLOCK!! Is this even an argument you should be making about any anime? Yes, it’s better dumbass just like 99.99% of every other anime out there. Read the manga I don’t care I’ve read it too (AND I LOVED IT). You’re probably better off reading the manga anyway it’ll give you the same amount of satisfaction in 30 something hours rather than 300 hours. Did I still watch the anime after reading the manga though?? YESSSSIRR. But hey as long as long as you consumed the masterpiece that is One Piece, I don’t give 2 shi*s about how you did it. Still, what I’d like to ask is… if you enjoyed the manga that much… why not give the anime a chance? … hmmm… food for thought.
6. “It’s too popular and overrated”
Ummmm sir, you need to actually watch something first to have an opinion on whether something is overrated or not. This sort of comment is the kinda comment I hear from the same people who have an orgasm after watching episode 19 of Demon Slayer and claim that it’s the best anime of all time. You know who you are. Maybe just hear me out alright maybe just maybe One Piece is popular because it’s really good… have you ever stopped to think about that? WOAHHHHH mind blowing right… (ㆆ _ ㆆ). There is nothing more I can say on this, and if this is your only bullet in your arsenal to not watch One Piece, I’d rather you not watch One Piece for One Piece’s sake.
At the end of the day One can argue that I have an unhealthy obsession with One Piece. Which I do. Everyone is also entitled to their own taste so if you actually gave one piece a try and didn’t like it I can’t blame you. This was mainly for all the f*ckers who choose not to watch One Piece for the reasons stated above. My hope is that I convinced at least one of you to actually give it a chance and hopefully enjoy it.

Oregairu is a masterpiece. Everything about it from its characters to just the overall premise of the anime is just so perfect in every way. What I’ve come to notice however is that when it comes to Oregairu the difference in opinion in hating it and loving it is incredibly vast. You will equally come across people who hate it as much as the people who love it. This is why I would urge you to give it a shot by going in with no expectations whatsoever. If you don’t like it by the first 3-4 episodes, it’s not for you. For ... Dec 25, 2020

We all have those moments when you enjoy an anime so much that as soon as you finish it you start researching everything about it from all the reviews to even information about which hospital the mangaka was born in. My little monster was one of those anime’s for me. I truly considered it (past tense) a top tier anime in the genre of romance and comedy. The main characters were extremely interesting and just cute to follow. The anime did lack interesting side characters though but the bizarre whack a doodle relationship of the main characters Haru and Shizuku had me fully invested. ... Dec 25, 2020

What makes a good comedy anime? Honestly, there’s not much to it in my opinion. As long as something has me laughing, I consider it a good comedy anime. Grand Blue however had me ROLLING on the floor after and during each episode. There’s not much to say about Grand blue but that’s part of its charm. It’s hard to describe what makes it so amazing and enjoyable. The constant banter and just pure insanity in each episode are to die for. However, I think for one to truly enjoy Grand Blue they ... Gate can simply be described as an Isekai done right. To be honest, the Isekai genre in recent years has not disappointed us. With few gems like but not limited to "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime", "RE: Zero" and "The Rising of the Shield Hero", the Isekai genre is not just consumed with ridiculously overpowered MCs but with actual plot and world building. Gate falls into this category. The premise of Gate is quite simple and easy to understand. They take a very unique approach to the genre and keep it grounded to a certain extent. This is my first review ... |
