Without a doubt, the best piece of fiction I've personally read. The page for this book is labeled as a manga, but I'm speaking specifically about the Webnovel version. The manga is merely an adaptation, and one that was cut short and does not realize the full story.
Let me just say this: It's a long but extremely worth-while read. 1432 chapters in the first book alone. If you've never read a Webnovel before, you'll be glad to know that Webnovel chapters generally aren't as long as a chapter in your typical chapter-book you'd find at a library. Most chapters are about 2,000 words long or
...
less, which takes about 7 minutes to read (for the average person).
First things first, I highly recommend getting into the community before reading. This is a double-edged sword, as you may encounter some spoilers, but if not, you will be much more motivated to read. (When I say community, I mean watching TikTok's/Art slide-shows). The fanart for the series is second to none from all I've seen. The quality and quantity of amazing fanart for this series is massive, which makes visualizing the world and the characters MUCH easier, at least for me. Even if you get spoiled on who a character is or something, it will be one of many, MANY that you could've gotten. Seriously, even 5 spoilers isn't enough to spoil the entire novel for you.
Second, the world building. It's also what I believe elevates the novel to the spot of number 1 for me. Of course, fanart also helps with visualizing information, but the art itself is made from direct words from the Webnovel.
Multiple different religions are present, multiple different languages (that the characters actually speak, by the way, not just mentioned that they speak in a different language) also exist. Politics is a big part of this novel, with past kings and rulers that actually feel as though they made an impact and weren't just there to specifically do one thing.
Third, and the final thing I'll mention (I won't go into detail about the MC), is this: The Power System. Easily, without a doubt the most unique power system I've encountered. Well, anyone could've made it up, but it's the way it's utilized that makes it genius. For one, EVERY ACTION. Yes, everything the characters do is essentially due to the power system. Without going into spoilers; simply put, the power system is the driving factor for every single interaction, battle or not, in the novel (Aside from a few instances) but it is mostly the power system driving the plot.
(Side note: There is essentially no romance in this novel at all, so if that's what you're wanting from this novel, you're out of luck.)

[!] LITERALLY MASSIVE SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP [!]
First of all, let me just say, that this is my (I believe) first time reviewing a manga. I don't read a whole lot of manga, but when I read this, I just couldn't get enough. I watched the anime initially, and it was really nice, but I wanted to know more. Turns out, it only covered 1/4 of the whole story, and the good parts have yet to be animated.
First, the story. It starts off with the MC, Phosphophyllite, who is weak and naïve. Actually, nobody really knows anything besides Sensei. As
...
the story progresses, the characters slowly start uncovering more and more about the truth of their world. Learning about the Lunarians, and even the truth about Sensei near the end. Overall, while I'd say it's hard to put into words, it's not the best thing this show has to offer, although I really do enjoy it.
Now for the art. To be completely honest, the art in Houseki no Kuni isn't all that striking initially. At least for me, sometimes when reading it was quite hard to follow what was going on in the story even. However, I believe that the almost abstract quality of the art-style goes so well with this kind of narrative. The simplistic yet contrasting backgrounds on some of the panels really hits home the statement it's trying to convey.
The Characters. Phew, where do I start? While I will say that not all of the characters in Houseki no Kuni are perfectly written masterpieces, the one character that I can say that for is Phos. Phos throughout the story goes through some of the best development I've seen in anime or manga easily. From the naïve and unknowing child (compared to the rest of the gemstones as well, literally) to in my opinion, the most badass character in the entire story. The reason Phos becomes this way though is just as good. Unlike someone like Kaneki, who just goes through a lot of physical trauma (not trying to downplay that, shi prolly hurt like hell literally), Phos becomes this way through just simply figuring out the way of the world. Of course, this is only possible due to the attachment of Lapis Lazuli, but you know what I mean. The main thing with Phos and what drives it home for me is the identity crisis and the internal conflict. Phos just wanted to help fight off the lunarians, but by the end of the story Phos may as well be working for the Lunarians, even going back to fight the other gemstones. Over the course of the story, Phos obviously has many parts that fall off and ended up losing them forever. With that, Phos's memories and personality deteriorate as a harsh side-effect. With that the internal conflict arrises if Phos (the original gem Phosphoyllite) is really even Phos anymore, with less than half of her body being made of actual Phosphophyllite.
Enjoyment is an absolute 10/10. Due to the above points, I don't see how people can't at least give it a try. Most people will just blindly ignore it the moment you mention anything about gems like "oh they made outta gems fr?" and then ignore you. Such an interesting concept, and I love stories like these that really make you think.
Overall, easily 9.5 overall but Phos is the best main character I have seen to this day.

Let's see. Where to begin. The story. This is a redemption story throughout. You see in the beginning of the story, our main character is in his room. He's doing nothing more than getting it off to his screen. As if his life couldn't get any worse (not justifying that at all), he gets kicked out of the house. Truck-kun comes along and isekais him off to another world. Where Mushoku Tensei almost immediately sets itself apart from the rest of the other generic isekai animes out there is that there's an actual story being told even when he's a baby. Hell, the first couple
...
of episodes he's actually just stuck in his own house, not being able to leave, or want to leave due to his past trauma. The story kicks off with him basically trying to take full advantage of this opportunity of course. What else would he do. This is part of what I love about Mushoku, but it builds up to something even better. Throughout the story, many tragedies happen of course. With each "turning point" neither being bad nor good specifically, just a major turning point in the series, the world becomes more and more fleshed out. [!] Spoilers up ahead regarding the Labyrinth arc (LN Territory): This is about what I mentioned about earlier when I said it was building up to something. What I love is how despite all of the hard work and training he put in at such a young age, receiving the Laplace factor, etc, it wasn't enough. Rudy just wanted to live a quiet life with his wives, but even with the powers he held, it was no use. The story isn't predictable at all, but not in a bad way. It gives the main character a goal that seems so impossible, yet it makes you wonder how the hell they're going to end up completing it even later on in the story when the character should be much more powerful. (End of spoilers) [!]
This next part is going to be a bit of a rant, but please bare with me. What I find absolutely stunning isn't even the show itself as the people who just blindly hate the show. I'll tell someone about Mushoku. "Hey man, have you seen/read Mushoku?" And their immediate response would be something along the lines of "isn't the main character a pedo?" or "generic isekai trash" which is honestly laughable. I've seen people give this anime a 4/10 or lower, and to me that's just criminal. What I mean isn't that people can't like the show, I'm sure that there are just some people who just don't like the show and they've given it a shot and I respect those people, but hell, the ART ALONE makes this series a 5/10 minimum. You mean to tell me this show is BELOW AVERAGE isekai garbage? Give me a fucking break. This show arguably has more plot, story, and character development than many top shows in my opinion, which people can disagree with, but a fucking 4. 4? Don't even say anything at that point.
Anywayyy enough ranting. I already talked about the Story and Characters essentially. Oh I did forget to mention the side characters. Orsted's a badass and all the other characters (specifically Eris and Paul) are some of my favorite side characters. The parallel between Paul and Rudy is also something really interesting. It's interesting to see how Rudy called Paul a horrible father for having 2 wives but then goes out and gets his own 3 WIVES. The art in the Light Novel is beautiful, although maybe not as consistent as I wish it was (in terms of how often they appear, not the quality). Enjoyment wise, what else can I say but a 10. Probably the fastest I've speed-ran a novel in my whole life, and I don't read many Light Novels. More like I just recently started. Took roughly 4 days to read the Light Novel, and currently reading the Web Novel, albeit slower due to the lower quality translations. Overall, this show is nothing short of fantastic to me. I understand some people not liking it, but just giving the show a 4/10 or just kinda assuming it's ass because it's an isekai or a perverted main character just isn't it man. The main character was made that way for a reason, not just to be a pervert (unlike some shows)

Let me just say something. I can understand if this is not in some people's top anime. You know, it obviously has its flaws and even with my rating of a 10/10, I could list off a few things that I didn't particularly like if I tried to nit pick. That being said, I simply can't understand why a single person would rate this a 1. Like, don't get me wrong, there's going to be people who yk rate it like a 5/10 or something right because it wasn't for them. Just an average show, maybe even a 4/10 because they didn't like it... but
...
a 1. A 1 is the bottom of the fucking barrel. REDO OF HEALER is above a 1 and that show is mid as shit. Then again, any time you click that review tab you're BOUND to find some kid in there going off on a 40 paragraph essay about how Vagabond is actually the most overrated piece of shit they've ever read. Now onto the actual show :). The story had me captivated just about the whole time, with me randomly stopping at the end of Season 1, I guess it felt like the end of the show to me for some reason. Art is good especially considering when it came out, but in the grand scheme of things nothing to behold exactly. Sound was pretty good, but there was never any moments where it particularly jumped out at me, and the characters. Oh the characters. Each and every single one had a huge impact on the story and how things turned out. I loved just about each and every single one of them, and if I didn't like a character, it wasn't because they were written poorly, it was because they were almost made to be hated or were in a conflicting situation. In terms of enjoyment, I don't even need to say anything. Absolutely amazing. Overall, it's debatable to put it at a 9.5 or so/10 but as we all know, you round up .5 or higher. As I said previously, I can understand if you didn't put this shit at a 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, or hell maybe even a 3... just don't lump this in with the liked of Highschool DXD and Redo. ffs

Ok, let me just say something right now. This show is not something I would recommend to anyone. It's just... like... how does someone recommend this show. "Oh hey I found this new cool anime it's called Redo of Healer, go check it out." like NO. In all fairness, this show is at BEST ok. And no, I'm not even taking into consideration the sexual scenes. Imo, the sexual scenes are just "flavors" the author added in for whatever reason, which I guess attracts a very specific audience. I guess I can KIND OF understand why, but with his own companions... like why. Overall, even
...
with the questionable scenes, which definitely bring down the enjoyment a bit, it's an ok show (first episodes iykyk)

I see a lot of people hating on Love is War for some unknown reason. I looked into it a bit deeper and read a bunch of low-rated reviews. Some of them had some good points, like some of the side-character's relationships (at times), and some that I thought were just flat-out wrong.
Let's start with the most glaring issue that a lot of people had with this manga. From what I can tell, most people seem to agree that the manga was amazing for the first half (120 chapters or so); however, got much worse afterwards. Reason being because it got more serious and focused
...
more on the relationship between Kaguya and the President. While I can see that being an issue for some people, I don't think many people realize that the comedy aspect really never goes away until the very recently made chapters (242+ or so). Kei, the President's dad, Kaguya, hell even Ishigami all have their own quirks and things that make them who they are. Those quirks that we love so much never go away, but it simply adds in the more romantic side of the story, which; by the way, I don't think the relationship between Kaguya and Shirogane is ever really taken as seriously as people think. It's always funny, and anything deemed "serious" is just overexaggerated, not actually serious. Art is pretty good, nothing much to say besides it wasn't the best in the very beginning. Characters are fun and interesting besides a few exceptions, and man is this show enjoyable. Overall, a solid 9. An 8 minimum.

Honestly, I really can't see many flaws in this manga. When I think of Made in Abyss, I think of something original, and so well-done that it currently stands as my favorite anime and one of my favorite manga. Why not my favorite manga? Well... if you've taken a look at some of the panels in the manga, you'll notice some... questionable moments? Look, I understand that it's part of the manga and all like they don't have the same standards, but it really doesn't have to go that far. Even putting really disturbing stuff on the endings of the chapters. If I had to
...
say anything else about this series is that it's a fucking roller coaster. It speeds up probably around right after Bondrewd arc where they're in the hotel, and it just speeds up so quickly you have no idea what the hell is happening. Thankfully, everything makes sense in the end, but it's just really confusing to keep track of what's going on. Characters are wonderful, the art is breathtaking, a really interesting story and amazing world-building, and really enjoyable. Not much more to say. I prefer not to associate the manga with the author as much as I can, but I can't when it's shoved in my face in the actual manga itself.

This is something I'm making after seeing other reviews essentially just slandering this movie. This could also essentially be a rant. I just finished this show tonight, having high expectations. With that being said, each and every single one of them was met. The ONLY problem that I had with the show was that I was confused about a LOT of things involving Japanese culture (Red Ribbon of Fate, etc) and the different religions being portrayed. On top of this, the scene at the mountain and Mitsuha disappearing all had its own actual reason and impact.
First off, the story. The story was amazing to me.
...
All of the subtle hints that were laid out here and there, as well as the whole story just coming together. Taking a deeper dive into this anime to find all of its niches really gives you a sense of appreciation for how much thought was put into this anime.
I don't believe I even have to really say anything here. Even the people giving this show a 2/10 acknowledged the animation was good.
The sound design didn't stick out to me as much during the actual show like the show Horimiya for example, but upon re-watching the show, I realized just how much of a difference it makes.
Characters themselves weren't anything to behold to be completely honest. It is all a personal thing to me. I got way too attached to these characters and actually enjoyed them a lot, but I can understand other people's reasons for not liking them as much as me.
Enjoyment is easily a 12/10. After watching the show I couldn't help but just sit there in awe as the credits rolled. Absolute masterpiece.
Overall, I literally only made this because I'm seeing WAY too much Your Name slander. I can understand not giving it a 9 or 10 out of 10 but a damn 2 overall? You're tripping.

To be perfectly honest, I don't understand what it is with people disliking this show.
I watched all of Horimiya in one night and is the only anime to make me actually cry. Regardless of the poor story, I think that Horimiya does what it wants almost perfectly. I don't think it's supposed to have some AMAZING glaring story to it, but rather it just wants to be a wholesome anime.
That's what I'd like to think, but I'll never know.
Regardless, I really don't see where the "1" overall reviews are coming from. Even if it's not a 7 or an 8, a 1 is literally the
...
shittiest show ever. As in you wouldn't watch it even if someone paid you to. Literally.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. The relationship between Miyamura and Hori really pick up early which is really different from a lot of shows I've watched where it takes 30 episodes to get to the point of them holding hands or something.
The art looks amazing as well and is pretty consistent. The side characters are not as interesting, but some of them have their moments. Even if it's not a 8/10 for you, I really don't see a reality in this show being below a 5/10.
