I'll write a short, spoiler-free review and my thoughts just after finishing it here:
Aki Tomoya, in this spin-off, instead of making a game, becomes an editor of Kasumi Utaha instead. This is a romance story instead of the harem parent story, between Tomoya and Kasumigaoka. It also tells us more about Kasamigaoka Utaha - although she still is as invective as before we come to know more about her personality and her insecurities in detail.
Secondly, I do not agree with people saying this spin-off is better than original story since the original ... has not finished yet and neither do I think Maruto-sensei intended this spin-off to be the main story but since this story has a clear main heroine set from the beginning it makes it better instead of a mishmash harem of girls.
The story is well written and the art is pretty solid too. The romance is progressive (don't let anyone tell you otherwise) and hits you in the face when you least expect it to. I definitely recommend giving it a read especially now when the final concluding movie of the main story is about to come out.

I'll keep this short, informative and spoiler free. It's a typical romance movie about 3 couples trying to confess their love. If you're looking for romance with twists and drama then sorry but you'll probably not like this one since the story is about high school romance and we all know how those go. I was very much impressed with the art and visuals, since they are pretty amazing and i'm not the only one who feels that way. The soundtrack is pretty good too which is important cause the movie is filled with songs. It becomes quite clear after some time who the main ... couple is and how their story will go. I felt like it was a bit short too and because of that there was not enough character depth. In the end it's a movie worth watching which won't take up much of your time and impress you with it's amazing visuals but will leave the romance fans or those who have watched a lot of romance anime a bit disappointed due to its lack of originality.

I loved this anime and I don't understand why people are rating it low or giving it bad reviews. The character animation and art is simply one of the best i've ever seen. It has a decent story too though i'll admit it seems a bit rushed near the end. It's the best super power anime i've ever watched and I believe it's terribly under-rated. The character development is great and the action fits the story perfectly unlike soe anime which have needless action and fighting. It fits
a lot of genres and creates a well balanced overall story. The characters are lovable and ... you'll get immediately attached to them. If you lijed this one then be sure to check out Angel Beats.
