Actually, I've wanted to write about this anime for a long time in a review forum, but because I haven't watched the second season so I postponed it. but now I want to express my opinion about this anime (even though until now I haven't watched the second season because of several reasons).
This anime, princess connect : re:dive, in my opinion is one of the underrated anime. with various effects that are pleasing to the eye, very smooth animation quality, as well as iconic opening music. What's more, I think the storyline that is delivered is 'balanced', on the one hand, they show a relaxed
...
daily life anime, full of laughter and funny incidents which always manages to make me think 'They are all really very close friends. familiar', perhaps likening it to the same feeling as watching Konosuba for the first time. However, on the one hand, the conflict presented here is not something trivial (perhaps it even deserves to be called a quality heavy story).
Then, for the animation displayed, I didn't read in detail who the staff were involved in making this anime, but several assets such as facial expressions, then the designs of the NPCs and several things reminded me of the 'assets' that Konosuba has. it's just that all of these things are much better than konosuba. The flashes of magic light are full of color and effects, the free fighting movements are not stiff like most other anime (even among today's action anime) and the characters' expressions are not just copying cute expressions on the market. In my personal opinion, all of these things should be able to lead this anime to get a higher rating score among the audience.
As for the music, I don't think there's much to comment on except giving praise. Even though I haven't watched the second season, I think the opening music for the second season is just as good as the first season, even though it's with the same songs, the opening music for the second season still manages to give a beautiful, funny, stunning, fun and memorable impression at the same time. . Basically, what I want to convey is that if this anime, Princess Connect : Re Dive is an anime with very, very, very good production quality compared to the value listed here (Myanimelist), then... for the reason why most people don't like this anime, I This feeling is because the main character here can be said to be 'stupid' and 'annoying' for most viewers. unlike Kazuma & Subaru who uphold their logic, or Ayanokouji & Shadow with their cool actions, or also the main characters in other isekai-harem series who have high ideals about justice which ultimately attracts many beautiful heroines to approach them.
Yuuki, the main character in this anime is just an innocent and stupid boy. some viewers will be annoyed to see him and think about hitting him once or twice even though it's unprovoked. But, in my opinion, whatever it is, this reason is just each person's personal taste. and it should not affect their perspective on the whole anime. It would be a shame if they ignored all the amazing things from the work of the staff who have displayed qualities that really deserve to be appreciated just because of their personal opinion on the main character.
*and if you read the review I wrote about the anime Sousou no Frieren, you will know that in assessing an anime, I judge the quality of the anime and not the storyline decisions or character traits in it (Isn't that outside the responsibility of the production right? How can they be thrown into responsibility because the main character here looks stupid? No matter how much you hate Yuuki, the production has absolutely no right to change 'other people's work' because it's the responsibility of the person who owns the work and not them?)

Maybe this sounds excessive to some people, yap, this is just an 'anime', Japanese animation which maybe for some people is just 'children's entertainment' but, I will still say it. that konosuba, is more than just animated entertainment that is the same as television shows on Sunday mornings (if you know what I mean).
This anime has so many reasons if you asked, I could give a lot of reasons for other you to watch it.
Unlike other isekai anime, Konosuba has a very strong 'family' & 'friendship' feel in its story. perhaps, some other isekai anime make their heroines as 'fan service' or 'table flowers' to
...
attract the attention of the audience. Konosuba, is not that kind of anime, even though Kazuma (MC) can be said to be surrounded by 'beautiful' women, their role there is more than just visual display. they are 'friends' on Kazuma's adventures in that world.
Aqua, with her stupidity, who always makes Kazuma's plans go awry, Megumin, who is crazy about explosion magic, and Darkness with her 'Fetish' (you know what I mean) always gives the impression that the four of them are very close 'fighting friends', in In further context, maybe you could call them 'family' even though they are not connected to each other biologically. They, four characters with their own unique personalities, enjoy their daily lives together wholeheartedly, supporting each other in a way that is not 'excessive' or 'dramatic' like a novel story.
'God's Blessing on This Wonderful World' may be a very appropriate name for this work, they are truly 'blessed' in that 'wonderful world'. and also, I am very grateful to the staff who were able to completely adapt this light novel into an anime, 11 episodes/season which gave a deep impression in each season, and were also able to 'polish' this anime to be more than just 'promotional' for the light novel.
*addition: All the opening & ending songs in this anime (both from Studio Deen and Drive) always give a 'nostalgic' & 'calm' impression every time I listen to them, although the last time I listened to the ending song for season 2 was several years ago. .. the 'funny' impression of the comedy conveyed when watching it for the first time, slowly changes to a 'warm' feeling when you understand & pay attention to their every behavior more deeply. I hope Studio Drive is able to continue this adaptation into a long project for the future.

Honestly, I was really a little desperate when I got the information that Sousou no Frieren was getting an anime adaptation. Not without reason, but as a reader of frieren manga for quite a long time since this manga was first published, I have often been disappointed by several anime adaptations that were 'supposed' to be good when adapted but turned out to be far below the expectations I had. say, if I give a 'good' manga/novel that I have read a score of 8 or 9, maybe when it is adapted, that score will actually reduce the overall quality of the work. In some
...
cases, it doesn't mean that the studio adapting the anime is bad or something, it's just that sometimes a work can maximize its potential by just being a manga/novel and that's what happened with this Sousou no Frieren manga. At least that was my opinion before finding out that Madhouse was the one who adapted it.
To my surprise, while the Frieren manga already had a score of 10/10 in my mind, Madhouse was able to break that score down to 11/10. The animation displayed, the background seems very complete in its depiction, the animation for small details is made with great dedication, the dialogue for some reason still feels very impressive even though I have read the manga version and the execution per episode is very neat. It all made me think that 'this is the anime I was looking for', an anime that really is 100% in line with what I expected. This doesn't mean that I don't think other anime are perfect, but we all, especially me as a long-time anime viewer, often find anime that don't actually match what we expect, whether it's in terms of storylines that don't match (don't suit our taste). or animation that we feel should be better (that doesn't mean the animation is below standard), but even so, we can still enjoy the 'quality' of the anime even though it doesn't match several things regarding our 'tastes' as viewers, because we like a work personally. and enjoying the quality it has are 2 different things. However, frieren, with a quality story, turns out to be able to be executed even more so that even if someone doesn't like this work personally, they are still able to feel & enjoy the 'quality' it has. then, now imagine if these two things were combined? that's what I felt when watching this anime adaptation.
I will not tell anything or comment on things like "A story about a touching journey..." or "Life lessons that are very rarely found..." or "How structured the world concept is in frieren anime..." and the like, because here I am giving an opinion about the 'Anime adaptation' of the manga Sousou no Frieren and not an opinion about 'Sousou no Frieren's work'. The studio will only get what they do (animation, opening music, seiyuu selection and so on) because when it comes to the story and how good the plot is, I feel the person who deserves all the praise is the creator of the work himself, namely Kanehito Yamada and also Tsukasa Abe. and vice versa, they both cannot be praised for the quality of the animation displayed, right? isn't it the animators' right to get credit for what they've 'done'? Isn't it true that if the opening music performed by Yoasobi and Yorushika sounds good, they are the ones who should be praised and not the animation animators?
In essence... what I want to say is "if Souosu no Frieren by Madhouse Studio really provides a 'breath of fresh air' in the world of animation, especially Japanese animation. The results are amazing work that deserves to sit in the number 1 position replacing FMAB. Maybe it will be difficult to find anime with the same quality as frieren in the future." 11/10 overall rating I can give, and I don't think there is a more 'suitable' value than that to appreciate this work.
