Boys Run the Riot

Both manga feature characters trying to start their own clothing brands with their own unique twist and motif of what they want to represent. Both stories also have themes of feeling pressured to fit a certain mould that society and/or your family expects you to be, and rebelling against that and living as your authentic self. Boys Run the Riot is much more heavily focused on gender dysphoria and gender identity in general however.

Both anime have a similar, colourful and surreal artstyle. The humour in both is also pretty similar. They both have outlandish visuals, and a storyline that seems to focus on relationships and people's insecurity in themselves. Both series also seem to have quite a lot of symbolism and foreshadowing.

Haibane Renmei

Both are slice-of-life series, with something fictional and fantastical (magic in Someday's Dreamers, and the Haibane in Haibane Renmei) existing in a mostly "regular" world. Both series have a relaxing, calm atmosphere, and the female protagonists of both have fairly similar personalities and demeanour. They also have a vaguely similar art style.

While the premise and plotline of both shows are fundamentally different, both have a unique sci-fi setting, with an outwardly "childish" appearance in the art style, but both are aimed at an older demographic. Both anime don't initially explain the foundation/fundamentals of the worlds they're set in, adding some sense of "mystery" to their settings. Both series also have simple-looking creatures that make "cute", incoherent noises (Hyo-hyo in Kaiba, and the Mojos and Densuke in Dennou Coil).

Both of these series feature a protagonist that has some demon traits or abilities, as well as the ability see youkai/demons that "normal" characters in the series can't. Both series are supernatural shounen, with a semi-episodic format of different demons/youkai that need to be defeated in each episode. They both have a similar sense of humour and a very similar atmosphere, as well as a large focus on action. I believe anyone that enjoyed Blue Exorcist or Ushio and Tora, would find similar enjoyment in the other series.

While the genres are different, both shows have a similar light-hearted feel to them. Both are also semi-episodic, with each episode being a separate story. The biggest similarity comes in the main characters, whom are both Shinigami/death gods, and have a black cat as their companion/contractor.

The protagonists in both series are bartenders. Both shows deal with human emotion, psychology and morality. They both play out in episodic format (more so with Bartender), with one-off characters that discuss/reveal past or present emotional situations in their lives.
