BLEACH: A TRILLION YEARS UNFORGIVABLE ENDLESS PAINFUL REMINISCENCE BATTLE
Yuhabaha: "Ichigo, thank you. Without you, I would not have achieved my goal!"
Ichigo: "What, what do you mean?"
Yuhabaha: "You are a sinigami, a quincy, a hollow, a weizard, a human. And more importantly, you are a wizard, Harry, I mean, Ichigo. I needed the power of all to open the portal to the real where sense doesn't make sense. The last season!"
Ichigo: "Impossible. That can't be true."
Yuhabaha: "Yes, it can. You didn't know that, but that dog that you gave a piece of bread to after the sixth lesson you had on the sixth day after your
...
sixth birthday had exactly 666 hairs. Did you think it didn't have that much fur for no reason? It was all a part of the sequence of the gate activation!"
Ichigo: "NO!"
Yuhabaha: "Yes! Even that time you spent on the sixth of June, which is the sixth month, of 2006, pleasuring yourself for exactly 666 seconds, was a requirement to open the gate."
Ichigo: "No, you are lying! That doesn't make any sense!"
Yuhabaha: "Precisely! Off we go, Hashuwarudo, my trustworthy right hand, whose family I have slaughtered mercilessly but who still follows me but maybe still plans on betraying me after having so many opportunities to kill me, and Ishida Uryu, who is totally not planning on betraying me."
Before leaving, Isida turns and looks at Ichigo.
Isida: "Ichigo."
Ichigo: "Isida, you..."
Isida: "I HATE SINIGAMI!"
Later, that very same minute:
Ichigo: "This guy is just a quincy, he can absorb the soul energy from all around him to replenish his reisi, but we have destroyed everything, so he's done!"
Villainous minion whose name does not matter and who is completely forgettable (VMWNDMMAWISF): "HAHAHAHAHA! You are a fool, Ichigo! Behold my true power: the instant defeat!"
Ichigo: "What? Impossible! How can you do that with your reisi, which has been an established concept throughout the series?"
VMWNDMMAWISF: "Have you forgotten where we are, Ichigo? This is the real where nothing makes sense! KIYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Random Ichigo's sidekick places his hand on Ichigo's shoulder in reassurance.
Rando: "Don't worry, Ichigo. Go, I will deal with him."
Ichigo: "What? Have you lost your mind? He can summon an instant defeat!"
Rando: "Yes, he can. But can he defeat every of the one million techniques that I have acquired?"
Ichigo: "A million techniques?.. Wait! Don't tell me that during the five minutes break that you took to pee, you managed to finally master the one million techniques technique! IDIOT! YOU WERE MAKING A FOOL OF ME THIS WHOLE TIME! AND EVEN WHEN WE WERE FIGHTING THAT GUY YOU KNEW WE WOULD WIN CAUSE YOU COULD HAVE USED YOUR TECHNIQUE!" *funny_face.jpg* *laugh_track.mp3*
Ichigo smirks with a confident look.
Ichigo: "Yes, I trust you."
Ichigo and company leaves.
A few moments later...
VMWNDMMAWISF: "KIYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! So much for a million techniques! Are you an idiot? Did you not hear the name of my ability? What does it matter how many techniques you have if I can use my ability to defeat you? KIYAHAHAHAHA! You are such an idiot! And all your friends are idiots! And even your relatives are idiots! Have you been doing it on purpose? Did you surround yourself with idiots on purpose? Or did you surround yourself with idiots because you are an idiot?"
Rando: "You managed to defeat all of my million techniques. What a shame. It would be the end for me if I had only one million techniques..."
VMWNDMMAWISF: "Nani?"
Rando: "Talking about being an idiot. It seems you didn't hear the name of my technique."
VMWNDMMAWISF: "Only the deaf couldn't hear it. It's one million techniques."
Rando: "No. It is One Million Techniques TECHNIQUE."
VMWNDMMAWISF: "That just means that your technique consits of one million techniques, you idiot! What does it matter?"
Rando: "No, it means that my technique that I have only one technique, which consits of one million sub-techniques. And because you have used your ability to defeat my sub-techinues, makes it a sub-ability, and you will not be able to use it to defeat my tehcnique!"
VMWNDMMAWISF: "No, that is impossible. You are just a shinigami, who uses reyatsu, the soul energy, the concept of which has been established throughout the series. What you tell defies all logic, it doesn't—"
Rando: "Make any sense?"
VMWNDMMAWISF: "No, no, you couldn't."
Rando: "Now, witness my true technique: UNO REVERSO!"
VMWNDMMAWISF: "That's even not the name of you techinue!"
Rando: "You are indeed an idiot! NOTHING MAKES SENSE IN THE LAST SEASON!"
VMWNDMMAWISF: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" *dies*

This might be my biggest disappointment of 2024.
I was fascinated by the first season, rewatched it a few times, and would do so again. The second season did not let my expectations down. It had all the strong points of the first and even added in quality.
Now for the third season, it lost it all.
Firstly, the main plot line barely moved a centimetre. We are fed bits and pieces about different characters, but nothing of it moves the plot forward. It's like a dish made of barely related stories, and whatever pushes the plot forward is only featured after the credits as a post scriptum
...
(the Yotsuba-Shiba family conflict).
Secondly, the fights are beyond boring and predictable. There is zero suspense, the outcome is known beforehand, and they are decided by the power factor. We know how powerful Tatsuya is, so any battle with his involvement is predetermined, but when other characters get involved, it just turns into a stupid display of their magic.
And lastly, it's just bad how the author tries to make some scenes dramatic. They made such a big deal of some character being a child of two relatives. When I saw Miyuki shocked and almost crying when she learnt about that, I burst laughing. Like, yeah, girl, with your affection towards your brother, it sure is SHOCKING.
I'll let the series rest in peace with this season

Imagine going to an anime convention. The moment you step into the hall, your eyes catch an amazing cosplay of your favourite character. You approach the cosplayer and say: "I would never imagine I would see such an authentic cosplay of <your favourite character name here>."
In response, the cosplayer takes your spirit and breaks its back over her knee, which sounds like: "Sorry, who?"
This is exactly what this anime is: a cosplayer without the knowledge of the character. It looks like Blue Archive, it sometimes sounds like Blue Archive, but it is not Blue Archive. Though I gotta give it an extra point for tasting
...
like Blue Archive, which is the taste of Iori's feet in Sensei's mouth.
So what's the problem with the anime? Unfortunately, there isn't one.
Firstly, the Volume 1, which served as a base for the anime, unfortunately, doesn't have much to offer for a 12-episode anime. So the result is that good half, if not more, is just unimaginative gunfights. There is only one fight in which Sensei comes with some kind of a plan to defeat the opponents, while the rest shrink down to Sensei giving directions at the beginning of a fight or saying "Shoot" or "Now", or even not doing anything at all. Moreover, the production team skipped a number of scenes that could have been used for air time instead of fights, but apparently, repetitive action is move valuable.
Then there is the problem of missing assets. There introduction of Sensei to Kivotos is completely omitted, which can only be explained by the anime being targeted EXCLUSIVELY at the game fan base. No outsiders allowed. But if it is so, why did they also skip the Adult Card scene, which only Blue Archive players understand with its underlying meaning? It feels as if the production team didn't even know what the target audience of the anime is.
The impression is further worsened when you start thinking about what is happening.Like why does Hoshino doesn't do anything when she seesAbydos district destroyed (feels like the "Guess I'll die." meme)? Or Black Suit summoning Sensei for cooperation, which doesn't make sense at all, because it was Sensei who found Black Suit and confronted him, which MAKES sense (did they not know how to make Sensei find Black Suit? how about "Arona, trace the movements of Hoshino for the last week"?)
The music is just bland. Which is a special disappointment since Blue Archive soundtrack is one of the, if not the best, soundtracks I've ever heard. Except the OP and ED, one of which at least was written by Mitsukiyo.
I'll close the downsides with my personal disappointments: the confrontation with Gehenna. Firstly, most of it just dumb nonsensical action (how did Aru and Shiroko happen to land in the middle of Gehenna mobs?), then they skipped the scene where Hina pretends to be elsewhere while communicating with Ako, which would be hilarious and would have added value replacing the screen time which was instead allocated for the aforementioned dumb action. And lastly there is no tension, no suspense between Hoshino and Hina, Hina just acknowledges Hoshino and that's all.
On the bright side, I was positively surprised they had the balls to depict the feet licking scene. Extra points for bringing in flashbacks with Yume and Hina's flashback showing wild first-year Hoshino. And the overall quality of the animation is pretty good. That pretty much sums up the upsides.
Bonus points to whoever answers the following question. In the game, Shiba Seki serves Problem Solver 68 an overfilled bowl of ramen to justify that this is a standard 680-yen ramen, which he might have added some extra to. And in the opening we can see this overfilled bowl of ramen. So why in the actual episode it is instead a large luxury bowl of ramen, which hardly can pass as a cheap ramen?
It's watchable, but just once, and it doesn't leave any lasting positive impression. The anime is more a commemoration of the game that cannot exist on its own. I'll close this with a famous quote from Geralt of Rivia: "If I were to choose between no anime adaptation and poor anime adaptation, I would rather not choose at all."

What happens when you come up with an interesting idea for an anime but don't have what it takes to follow through with it? The answer: Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon
We are introduced to the main character: a vampire princess, who is a shut-in, who can't drink blood, and who is an absolute weakling because she can't drink blood. Yet, she has to become a warlord, which is obviously in conflict with her personality. So she'll have to somehow find workarounds, right? Pfft! Amateurs! Just throw in occasional scenes where the character is cuddled in her bed all alone and call that being a shut-in. Who
...
cares if there isn't a trace of that when she's outside, right? What was that about not being able to drink blood and being weak? It turns out she is so strong that she had been hypnotized not to be able to drink blood, which gives her powers! WHAT A TWIST!
That's basically all you need to know about this anime.

HONEY, I HAVE SHRUNK THE DOCTOR
Your impression of the Prelude to Dawn will largely depend on to factors: whether you are an Arknights player and how critical you are.
If you are an average Arknights player, then you'll rate it 10/10 with no respect to its flaws; and if you are above average, having critical thinking and stuff, you'll probably be able to enjoy the anime if you turn a blind eye to cliche anime moments and dubious embodiment of "the Doctor".
If you are not familiar with Arknights the game and you are not a picky anime viewer, it's a fine anime to pass a few
...
hours, nothing above average. You'll watch it and forget it, since the creators did not put enough effort in the anime to make it stand out.
Now, if you are a picky anime viewer and not familiar with Arknights, then you'll be raising your brow a lot. Coincidentally, the things I will be clarifying down are the flaws that makes Prelude to Dawn lose points.
The first thing that will make your eyebrow go up is hearing "Doctor" when the characters refer to the protagonist. Believe it or not (more likely not), but this is because "the Doctor" is a doctor of neurology. Those of you familiar with the field know how long it takes just to finish your education, not to mention becoming a confident specialist. In addition, "the Doctor" is an outstanding field commander, which only adds up to the years needed to earn necessary experience. In the game, this is not an issue, since the Doctor doesn't have any facial features revealed, so that a player can better associate himself with the protagonist, but in the anime they decided to stray away from this policy in favor of pleasing the target demographics, making "the Doctor" look 20 at best. So much for a renowned doctor/tactician.
Then you'll start noticing the environment where the anime takes place, the world of Terra, which resemles Earth not only in name, but in content as well, since every nation on Terra is a copy of an existing nation with a sligtly different name slapped on it: Kazimierz is Poland, Yan is China, Lungment is Hong Kong, Ursus is the 21st century's nazis, Russia. Correspondingly, all attributes of the culture of these nations are copied from the aforementioned nations—yes, vodka, balalayka, babushka, and shapka-ushanka included, literally. As much as I like Arknights, there is no denying that the nation design is horrifyingly negligent.
Finally, there are races. Each nation has a home race, like Ursus is the homeland of ursus people (who are, what a surprise, bearhumans) or Yah is the homeland of lung people (who are, again, a surprise, dragonhumans). The races were designed with the same negligence as nations: design a character and slap ears, tails, horns, etc; remove them, and you wouldn't even have thought they were there. And my personal eyesore: two set of ears, those of an animal and those of a human. To Yostar's defense, apart from ears, they are no worse at demihuman race design as anyone else: they all use the same sloppy approach.
Now for the good part.
If you can ignore the aforementioned flaws, Yostar have good story writers and the core story has some rich moments. As for the characters, the good part is that a lot of them have rich backstory, but the bad part is that they are revealed mostly via game sidestories, which are not a part of the Prelude to Dawn.
For the finishing touch, as they say: "The god is in the details." and this is where Prelude to Dawn shines. The anime shows some details that can't be observed in the game, like Rhodes Island medic patching up the wounded Reunion soldiers or an ursus girl waiving back at Amiya, showing that she is not a prejudiced idiot like her mother and that what Rhodes Island does actually changes the attitude towards the infected, even if just on a small scale.
As for the quality of the anime, the animation is above average and the music, well, it's the Hypergryph's thing and I strongly recommend checking out Monster Siren Records on Spotify: you'll be amazed.

"I must protect everyone. I promised." Saya, watching several of her classmates being eaten until she finally decides to unsheathe her sword.
This anime is a fine specimen of poor quality anime. 66% of each episode is filled with discardable garbage: starting a class, eating in a cafe, taking a walk, etc. all the while reusing the scenes as much as possible. The rest of the episode is fighting with an enemy dropping a single line to move the story 1 millimeter further.
The characters are terrible to the point where they can be described as "a cafe guy who always smiles", "a grumpy guy who likes
...
Saya", "the cheerful twins who say the same lines".
There are only 2 things that I can rate positively: the opening and occasional unrated brutality.

I had high hopes for this anime after watching the first season, but the continuation came to be an utter disappointment.
From the start, Momoga seemed like a confused character, who had to play the role of an evil overlord and hold to the expectations of his servants, yet still helping others making it seem as though he did it for his own benefit. Unfortunately, that was just a false impression, and with the events of the 2nd season, we can definitely see that he is actually a villain who tries to create an impression of a fair ruler. He claims to bring prosperity to those
...
who submit to his will, but he won't even offer that choice until he slaughters a number of people, like he did with lizardmen; he would summon his minions to a city and allow men, women, and children to be captured for experiments by his servants, just to get more famous as an adventurer. Does this seem like a protagonist? Hardly. He is an antagonist, and a poor one at that: unlike typical antagonists he has no motivation to conquer the world, he wants it just because he wants it; there's not even an "even greater evil" to justify his actions.
Another false impression I had while watching the season 2 is that he is an antagonist who's fate is to be defeated by an antagonist, but there is little to none suggestions that that would ever come true: none of the supporting characters bears any significance or is even hinted to become one.
So in the end we have a poorly written villain whom we are supposed to follow for unclear reasons.
Another downfall of this anime is 0 character developments: neither Momoga, nor any of his servants display any signs of evolution or any sort of change. Just like the NPCs from the game they all come from, they have their pre-written behavior that they firmly follow. The one and only character in his clique that is somewhat likeable, Sebas, is just like all of the other servants ridiculously overpowered, which makes his arc predictable and boring.
There are a few exceptions, of course, like the twisted Golden Princess, who is far more well written and appealing character than Momoga, despite her dark nature, and the desperate Brain Unglaus, who seems like the only one to get character development, but as mentioned above, there are no hints that they will ever gain any more significance further down the story.
One last thing is that everyone, absolutely everyone other than Momoga and his clique are dumb as hell. During the 2 seasons there was only a single character who found out that Momon is Ainz, and that was a pure luck because Momoga's subordinate was stupid to keep her mouth shut. Other than that, there isn't a character who would be a bit suspicious towards an adventurer who rose from the lowest to the highest rank in a matter of days, surpassing any known person. It is especially hilarious when you combine that with Momoga's constant thoughts that somebody starts suspecting him because he did something out of the character as and adventurer, when, in fact, they blindly ignore it.

This is the fanservice in its purest form with the AL playerbase in mind. Has nice visuals, but the plot is absolutely generic with the main character being an overpowered wanna-be-kudere and the fact that this anime has a main character is the main pitfall from my point of view: with the abundance of shipgirls in this universe being someones favorite (and Enterprise is arguably one of the top favorites occupying places ranging from 11th to the 3rd according to various polls) making one of them into the main character is a doubtful decision. Double that: the anime goes even further by antagonizing two factions
...
of shipgirls, one reason even die-hard AL fans would drop it seeing their favorite faction being treated that way.

Should have been titled "The worlds most generic and unintriguing isekai somehow gets a score over 7.5". The anime started with a good note presenting the MC as a ruthless mature man, but unfortunately, rather than helping to create an interesting character it serves the sole purpose of making the main character overpowered. Yes, solely. Other than that it, it is not reflected in the behavior of the character; someone might say "But look, he is still ruthless, cold, and manipulative, which is not something you see in young boys" and that would have been a valid point had the main character not been able
...
to turn his companions into the same ruthless and cold killing machines. This brings me to the second disappointment: the characters. First and foremost, the MC is NOT likeable at all: even when he "saves" the day, it is revealed through his thoughts that he did this not out of good will or compassion, but to make people serve his needs, he even says that he brainwashes people. That makes him relatable, doesn't it? Then we get his companions, or to call it by what it is, his harem: somehow in the course of a few months he managed to turn a horrified little girl that was about to be raped into a sadistic killing machine, who tortures people without as if it was nothing. Looks realistic. And for the plot, the anime keeps two things a secret: what was that fifth skill that he picked and considered overlooked by the gods and who is that hero that he is supposed to kill. And these are being kept for a reason: because there is no other intrigue to this anime. No matter what happens in any episode: the MC is so good at everything that he doesn't face any challenges at all.

Great storytelling requires great characters to lead a viewer through. This is where Steins;Gate failed.
The characters are literally screaming: "Look how unique and original I am!", just like an annoying store consultant talks you into buying an ordinary microwave; "Tuturu!" and the main character's "paranoia" and talking through a dead phone are just a few examples. But this is not the worst part, which is the main character, which I can definitely award the title of the worst character development ever. A genius who invented a time machine yet is degenerate to an extent that he allows an absolute stranger to use the time machine
...
to alter the past! I know people are not perfect and so are anime characters, but this is absurd. This makes the character unrealistic and unrelatable. This makes the story unbearable to watch.
