I'm here because i fell in love with the artwork of Maruya Kae. After reading a one-shot she was involved in i decided to read anything where she was the artist (an excuse to see beautiful art, really).
This however was WAY better than the one shot I read (story-wise).
Story (7): what first seemed to me like a regular yaoi turned out to be something else. I again think the description fails the story but i can't say anything or it'll be a major spoiler. Anyway, the bond between the lovers was really deep. This is the first time i've ever felt it THIS much
...
in a yaoi. it felt real. It was romantic and had some funny moments. It was sad and almost frustrating at one point. I wanted to cry and tear up. I felt a lot of emotions while reading this manga.
The story line though is somewhat confusing, it just feels like something is missing or something doesn't feel right. I think it needed two more chapters to explain the major turn points that will happen half way through. There are 2 very more important events in this manga that really needed further explanation and it really pissed me off in the end cause i wasn't satisfied. The ending is fine but leaving me with a puzzled feeling is not cool.
Art (10) again, I read this just because it's Maruya Kae. The first impression was "Wow, the background *-*" The backgrounds in this manga are really impressive, i just stared at them in amazement. The characters are elegant, sexy and most importantly beautiful. The facial expressions are very true. I don't know how she does it. There is intensity when needed and serenity when needed it is perfect. I really fell in love with her art it is amazing. I praised her art for a one-shot and her devotion shows, she is someone who is really really talented.
Character (8) even though the 2 main characters are flawless in a sense that they both really embody who they are (i don't know how to put into words what i mean, i hope it makes sense lol). Let me try again, they live up to what they're expected to do because of who they are (fail again? i give up lol)
There is a certain Ji chan who is very alluring as well, he lives up to his line of work to say the least.
There are some characters in this manga who needed to have more "panel time" to explain certain things after the 2 turn points.
As far as character development goes, it's barely noticeable since you already expect them to have this certain reaction. It's not that great but it's still good and sentimental.
Enjoyment (9) I was really turned off by the lack of explanations in this piece, as i said i would have loved if there were another 2 chapters to clear things up a bit but nonetheless it was very good.
Oh and i should have probably mentioned this earlier but at some point i actually forgot that this was a yaoi manga and got immensely absorbed into the story It is really intriguing and it has some mystery to it along with the "supernatural" aspect.
Overall I'll give it a 10, opposed to the one shot by the artist the art isn't the only reason why i gave this a 10. The story was really good and original in a way even though the supernatural part may seem familiar and used before but it really was something different. In the end I was anxious and waiting to see what the characters will do and it had a bittersweet ending depending on how you interpret it.
I recommend this for a fresh take on yaoi. I hope this review did justice to the story!!

I don't think the description is really suitable for this one shot so here's what i think it should be like; it's a story about two successful young men; a flower coordinator(Satomura) and a photographer (Kyoutaro). A career turn-point for Kyoutaro comes up which will make each of them reevaluate their relationship and themselves.
I really liked this piece, first of all let me make it clear that i'm here just to specially review the "Art.
I'll start with the story itself (4) it didn't really impress me to be honest, there's no twist to it and no real "obstacles" but it's a lovely one
...
shot and it's not so tacky as most shounen ai one shots tend to be, it doesn't really focus on their romance as much as the self-struggle of the characters and ultimately their "sacrifices".
I didn't really care about the story to be honest, which will lead me to the "Art" (10) which is why i'm here in the first place. I knew just by looking at the cover that this is gonna be beautiful but i didn't expect it to be THIS beautiful. I can't actually describe how beautiful it was, it was breath taking, as i turned the pages i couldn't focus on what was being said as much as the details of the background, their eyes, their eyebrows, their hair, their facial expressions which seemed tender and true and full of longing and love (or at least that's how i perceived it). The characters are elegantly drawn, handsome men. I was captivated by it. I immediately looked up the artist "Maruya Kae" and i decided that i'll read every manga she was involved in. That's the least i could say really, i'm totally enchanted by her work.
As for the characters i'll give it a (6) for most one shot mangas there's rarely any room for character development. The characters are simple and easy to read, however i do appreciate that there was a "revelation/realization" in the end which in my opinion compensates for the lack of character development and actually the realization is what kept the manga going and gave it a sweet ending otherwise there wouldn't be a manga in the first place i mean the story is very puny so that made up for it. I really liked that the characters were true to themselves and consequently each other.
Enjoyment; this is a tough one to judge if i'm judging the story itself i'd give this a 5 BUT the art elevated that to a 10, seriously i really enjoyed looking at every panel and every detail.
Overall, I'll give this one shot (8) it wasn't cheesy, no jealousy or whatsoever that is stereotypical of some shounen ai. To be honest, what really made this manga stand out to me was the art. Gorgeous. It is worth the read nonetheless.

This is the first time I write a review on this website but I'll try my best to include everything that i want to say! (Bear with me, please)
I've just finished reading this Manhwa today and i felt the need to write a review about this piece of work immediately.
When i saw the rating of "Hanged doll" (currently 7.69) I was hesitant to give it a shot, specially that no one commented on this as well so i thought that it might not be worth a read (even though i find this sentence typically cruel and unfair) but boredom got the best of
...
me and i had nothing else to read so i decided to give it a shot.
First thing I noticed is that it's a "Webtoon" and i usually get turned off by such style so i paused for a second (actually i closed the tab) but i told myself that i had to go through with it and get out of my comfort zone a bit.
The manhwa has a comic sense to it at first , and i've to say that the art is cool the characters look 'normal' (to me anyway) you know they look like someone you could come across in the streets or something which kinda makes me relate to them. After that however it's anything but comic. The story has a fast tempo, it definitely progresses fast which is really good or else you'll get bored if they drag it. When i was done with it I was really disappointed. I felt like i needed some more.
Let's see....
-Story: I gave it a 10. I was really mesmerized by the whole thing, however as i can't reveal anything (and the description seriously doesn't do the story any justice) all i could say is that the core of the story is persistent and it doesn't shift focus to something else. This is what i'm trying to say; you're facing a problem, you try to solve it and someway or another you do it without straying off the path. As i said above, it really is fast paced so you'll have to pay attention to what's happening. When you're done with a chapter you'll feel the need to read the next one. It's sad that i can't say much when it comes to the story itself but that's all the better....you'll have to check it out by yourself ;)
There are also some what i think is called 'side stories' about the characters' past and their mentality however they are brief and conclusive and they don't stray off the main story. These scenes aren't presented abruptly but in relation to the situation so it doesn't feel forced at all.
I have to say that the last chapters of this manhwa is a shock. It was jaw dropping, mind blowing and i couldn't believe that whatever happened and whatever got them in the situation they were in ended up the way it did. oh my god, i really can't reveal anything but you'll understand when you read it. It's a shocker. And when you think you know what's gonna happen in the end you're gonna be dumbfounded (like me, hehe) and then you're gonna get shocked again. The last chapters were a roller coaster of emotions and shock and awe. At the end i was left amazed and i didn't believe it ended so fast. I had to go through some pages again to make sure that what i read was true. I was in a state of disbelief. Everything fell into place and it made a perfect impact. It's brilliant and to me; it was legit and original in a sense.
-Art: 7. As i said I don't like webtoons' art that much but this was really good. The characters look familiar and normal but each has a feature that is limited to him/her....making them unique and special in their own way. The background and the atmosphere are somehow eerie and weird. You just feel anxious all the time. It literally made me on the edge of my seat. Even the rooms look very uninviting and creepy.
It has some sophisticated horror art as well, no gore but there's some really visual scenes and one of them really made me shriek in my seat and other scenes gave me goosebumps.
-Character: 9. The character development is very good along the manhwa. I was satisfied and there's no wimpy characters or mopey ones which is good cause they might have dragged the progress of the story, i dislike these type of characters anyway. I like the fact that the characters have a sense of a subtle humor to them as well, only in the moments that require them to be though. They're perfectly balanced with their flaws as well, i guess i'm trying to say that even though you know that this character has this flaw but you're fine with it. Other than looking normal, their characters are also normal, i'm not saying plain and i don't mean that in anyway i just mean that none of them is "overly confident" or "overly cheeky" or "overly funny", they're not boring though. They're very much composed and i love that.
There are also some side characters that will make occasional appearances but they are there for a reason (as you will figure out later). There were literally NO unnecessary characters.
-Enjoyment: Definitely a 10. I loved every single bit of it. There was never a dull moment for me and i couldn't get my eyes off the screen while reading it.
Even though i gave the art a low rating i will still give it an overall of 10.
It's definitely worth a read and you won't be disappointed.
I hope i did this awesome manhwa a fair review. I hope i see others' reviews soon as well.
