Story is okay nothing to right home about there's nothing philosophical going on lol, but thats honestly one of the strong points. If you're looking for a good action anime with some badass moments this is a really good pick.

I honestly gave it such a high score because those action scenes and the flash backs to paint Ragnas motivations are just that good. and by god the fighting is good. You might see some other "not recommended" reviews mentioning Ragna being too strong but hey thats literally the first couple episode you think he's going to fight anyone strong then? Or the MC is edgy? ... I don't really see Ragna as edgy in the slightest, he's pretty mellow until he sees a dragon or someone he recognizes.
I'm enjoying myself; the story is interesting enough to keep watching, there are enough naturally funny moments, and the fighting is top tier.

I'd give it an 8.5 if i could but i might as well do 9 to offset the bad reviews.

The story is simple its believable and it still manages to throw curveballs at you but with very REAL reason behind it. The MC does what most of you would likely do in the situation and i like that, it's a breath of fresh air. The MC isn't dumb he isn't a genius he makes mistakes, but they are 100% justifiable mistakes, I've seen far too many isekai anime where the MC is straight STUPID and ignores clear signs.

The only real reason i can see for someone disliking this is the art style. It starts off very simple with not much detail in either ... character or background. once you get to the 2nd part its very noticeable that they have put more detail into everything. If you enjoy the story up to that point, then there's no issue.
Another thing is the progression of the story. A lot of the time Yajins only priority will be survival, and a few goals will be pushed in front of him and its nice seeing how he tackles those issues. The pacing is very good you'll never feel like something is taking too long, if anything you get left wanting an extra page just to linger on the feelings more.

All in all, the last 10 chapters I've read have been the best of it, but that kind of sucks. Right as the writer and artist are going crazy, I catch up xD.

As someone whos watched past the first 3 episodes, yes it feels slow at first. literally right after that 3 episode mark it starts picking up. The different perspective between the police and the MC really gives depth to the world without spitting it in your face. So yes, the first 3 episodes are world building and giving some depth to the characters, so you don't get any unnecessary flashbacks to make you like a character you met 4 episodes ago. I'm not entirely sure why this anime doesnt have above an 8 right now. I can understand it getting thrown in the isekai pile ... (even though it's very loosely called an isekai) but just watch the first episode and if youre not at least interested then i guess its not for you, though im not sure what else you're gonna enjoy.

I'd love to recommend this anime but honestly, it's a developed taste or at least it seems that way. If you've watched a lot of isekai this is really refreshing it doesn't follow the standard recipe of overpowered and noble goal or overpowered with a harem. Everyone leaving a bad review already has a sour taste for isekais and are projecting "aha see it's a harem". there are no love interests or romance so if you're hoping for that sorry, if you're tired of it, this might work for you. while there is a giant list of female characters it's not a harem so get ... that out of the way first.
This is pretty much if you never grew out of that phase as a kid where you wanted to be some cool edgey hero or villain and they explain that in the first episode. The anime skips out a lot of the training the mc did so it will feel like "op for no reason" but if I'm being honest, it was probably too graphic to go into detail considering the few quotes the light novel readers shared. It has a nice formula of comedy, buildup, climax, and repeats that. I'd definitely wait to watch it till its wrapped up because this anime LOVES cliffhangers. It's a good watch especially compared to most of what we got the fall and winter. If you don't like the comedy in the first 4 episodes that's when I'd say it's not worth your time because comedy is like half the show and the power fantasy is just the treat on top.
The MC doesn't show off too much and that's his goal, so don't expect overlord level power trip.
I can't recall a single isekai anime that hits all the same notes, so that in my book already makes it worthy of a watch. I've watched way too many isekais and I'd still put it around top 10.

tldr; not your average isekai if you don't semi enjoy the comedy in the first 4 episodes skip, but if you can muster the strength to watch the 5th that'd be a better indicator.
