Oh my gosh hold on there or you might hurt yourself with all the edge.
This Dark magical girl anime is honestly just a bunch of filler still trying to be like Madoka without any of the smart symbolism or set up. Everybody (besides the main girl who is so pure she wouldn't hurt a fly) is horrible! Everything that happens is just a big mess of whatever horrible thing you could think of
Also the writer or whatever missed the whole part of what makes a magical girl story is getting us to care about the character before everything turns south. Honestly there is nothing smart
...
or inventive about the anime and it does it in the plainest way possible.
I don't think I would be that upset if it didn't feel like the show was to dileratly trying to manipulate the view by throwing whatever graphic imagery they could through (good writes and shows can do this without is being to obvious or pandering)
Also the lighting in the of the scenes are so dark I could barely tell what was happening.

Ok, so I know alot of people have already ripped on this anime but I just wanted to add my thoughts on it. Yes Soul Eater NOT! is just a horrible anime- even looking at the anime by itself without treating it like a spin off this anime is just horrible (not the worst I have seen but still bad).
It is scraping the bottom of fanservice- with cute girls doing cute things for whatever reason (if you are into that stuff watch any Kyoto animation's anime you will probably have a better time)
I can't even tell what the demographic for this girls? (but the
...
the number of fanservice shots and everything most girls will be turned away from), guys? (to cutsey), old soul eater fans?( to cutesey!, no action!, with almost NOTHING having to do with what made the original soul eater great)
It's like a shallow shell of a cutesey slice of life anime TRYING to disguise itself as a action anime? Relying heavily on cameos of the original cast.
Story: 2
Ok it starts off interesting as our main character suddenly finds out she's a weapon- interesting as in the original Soul Eater we mostly see the mesiters side of what's going on. It then takes a nose dive as the anime tries to take itself serious without really building on anything but relies heavily on fanservice, and character cameos. The only time I thought the story was going to go anywhere was with the eternal father episode but that whole thing gets dropped like a sack of potatoes.
Also...it seems like the story was thought up with no real ending in mind. I mean the main girl is going to have to pick one partner at the end of it.
Art: 5
Nothing special. There are bits of pieces were the animation shined but overall the animation looks very average.
Sound: 3
The music is either trying to be cutsey or not noticeable at all. Although the sound effect and background noise is ok. Nothing special
Character: 1
VERY BAD. They are just one note characters with no taste. The anime just throws you these character without building any relationship or reason I should care. Do they have goals? Hobbies? Why are they at this school? What was there homelife like? (The closest we get is the fact that the rick girl lives with a rich family and that's it.)
I admit we do get some inner turmoil about the main girl who is a weapon- doubting herself, her powers, even who she should be partners with and questioning if she should have come to this school. Which is good but...we never really go deep into it with all this build up amounting to nothing.....getting no resolution.
Enjoyment: 2
I can't help comparing this to the original Soul Eater- which it pails in comparing in EVERY SINGLE WAY. Even without comparing it, this anime is just bland. I know some people are seeing I completed this and wondered why the heck I actually continued watching this train wreck? Well I don't know either. I guess because I am a huge fan of Soul Eater and was hoping for this spin off to have something! Sadly I just feel like I wasted my time
I would not recommend this for anyone, even if they are a fan of soul eater- just go rewatch Soul Eater.

Ok so I honestly fell in LOVE with this anime (wanting to buy it). I mean there is so much detail with the art direction (Just look at the first episode and you can tell with how they animated the characters when walking to school, and when Lisa is running down the stairs while the building is falling. The blur and effects gives the animation more a live action theatrical look). This is an anime where you have to pay attention to what every character says and does to understand the whole story of whats going on...
Lets get started!:
Story: 9
Ok I love the overall
...
story and idea. I mean the characters we are suppose to be rooting for are the "Bad guys"-which is a nice little twist. Although they never to kill anyone and even go out of there way to make sure people are out of harms way.
The problem with the story? There isn't enough episode! This isn't just me being a fan girl wanting more episode for my enjoyment (although that would be nice) but it seems like the anime just scratches at the surface. There are many mysteries and stores left untold...like what was it like in the lab? What was 5 relationship with 9 and 12? Specifically whats 5's relationship to 9? Why didn't 5 leave the lab with them? What was the big deal with the chest game? Why happened between the years 9 and 12 after they escaped the lab? What happened to Lisa at the end, did she go back to her mother?
We get little bits and pieces of VERY short flashbacks and dialogue but never go deeper then that. It is like this anime is trying do SO MUCH, which isn't a problem it is the fact that is only has 11 episodes to tell the story.
Art: 10
The art and animation is AMAZING! The Ferris wheel scene and the bike scene are just perfectly done! Nothing else to say (which is why I gave it a 10)
Sound: 10
Again very well done it is not overdone and adds to the scene (Which I think is very important and why I also gave it a 10)
Characters: 7
Sadly the characters suffer the same fate as I stated with the story-although it suffers more only giving us basis of the characters personality. I think the two characters that suffered the worst were 5 and Lisa (with the character I found the hardest to understand was 5). You can TELL there is more to the character which is a shame. I mean I would have liked to see Lisa have interest or do something besides being clumsy (like having a hobby or doing something that she is actually good at to develop her character that is buried under all that self conciseness).
It is even worst for the side characters...where you don't understand some of why they do what they do. I mean the detectives go to a guy who was part of the research lab and he just tells them because....no real reason given besides he is old?
All I am confused as to why 9 and 12 join the school at the first episode..then never come back to the school (with it being summer break the next day? or something). What?
Enjoyment: 10
Even though this show had a hear wrecking ending I still enjoyed its interesting premise and story. This anime is defiantly one of a kind and almost had me crying (which I can say is a lot more then most anime done for a while-since the ending of Angel Beats). Why do I do this to myself? I don't know..haha but I still enjoyed the anime and can say that this anime has tons of rewatch value.
Overall: 9
This anime is the closest I can say to being perfect (-it is close but no cigar). A bold statement I know but that is my opinion on it. The only problem is the lack of episode to spread out-and allow for more in-depth look at the characters.
I mean I admit I do not like the ending but it's realistic (although I do wish the ending was different). The characters are interesting (despite not being able to go in depth on them), the art along with the music is amazing, and the overall story is intriguing. Posing some very philosophical questions. Is what they are doing right? Should they actually be considered terrorist?
The overall tone of this anime is dark (if you don't mind that) and as mentioned before I think it has great rewatch value.

So Arisa is one of my favorite anime. At first is seems like it would be overly cutesy Shojo but quickly turns into a mystery story. The main plot of this anime is that Tsubasa and Arisa are twins that had been separated when they were little due to their parents divorce. After years of separation they decide to meet in secret - while this is happened Arisa commits suicide in front of Tsubasa (going into a comma) leaving only the clue of a note that she had gotten at school. Tsubasa decides to go into Arisa school to try and figure out why her
...
sister would due something like this. The rest of the story is dedicated to figureing out the mystery and secrets behind Arisa school life and how things are not as happy as they appear.
Story: 9
The story is interesting and has many twists. The story at first started out slowly and in my opinion is pretty well paced. You are introduced to alot of different elements and have to pay attention to details that might play an important part of the story later.
Although to be honest I wish the story went over what happened to some of the other side charters
Art: 7
The art for this anime is okay- the art style is along the lines of "cutesy". There are some good scenes and the drawing style is an interesting mix.
Charters: 9
Each charter that is introduced is very well rounded and interesting (in my opinion). You get to understanding there motives behind there actions and backstory.
Although there is arguably no charter growth for many of the main charters you do come to understand what drives them. There are a number of differnt charters although the main charter Tsubasa is interesting:
She is a 'delinquent" girl who is very honest, headstrong, loyal, and brave (although arguably not very bright). She adores her younger sister Arisa and is devastated about what happened along with determined to find out the truth.
There are a number of side charters that are all interesting in there own right. I enjoyed theses colorful characters.
Enjoyment: 8
Like I said before this is my of my favorites! Although It is well paced I do feel like it left some story elements unanswered about the fate of some of the charters. (in my opinion which really ruined the ending for me). Although the story did answer alot of the questions it left many more questions unanswered. Especially about the relationships between charters...
There are plenty of twist in this story as stated before and I enjoyed it alot (It is along the stories like "Rabbit Doubt"-although maybe not as bloody). The story overall has really little romance at all (which suprised me of a story that is suppose to be in the "shojo romance" genre). I would love is there was an afterstory- because I am honestly curious about the class afterwards (yes I know its tells us but I would like to see the class instead of them just telling us) and is Tsubasa ended up with Manabi (as Manabi seems to have romantic interests in Tsubasa but we do not know exactly how Tsubasa might feel for him)

This manga has great potential but sadly drops the ball..as is it still ongoing I cannot comment on the my overall opinion of it or how i fell about the ending-as an ending can make or break a story. (although I do not plan to find out as I have lost interest and do not plan on forcing myself to read the rest).
Everything about the anime is ok..go ahead and read if, if you want and have the time. It really isn't that bad but nothing ground break or worth being on my list of book I want, or even recommended manga.
The humor in the
...
manga can be very funny but the humor can only go so far in a story that seems to drag on forever.
The charters are were I have the most problems with. I know in literature, especially manga, writers are allowed to stretch the word of disbelief. But you want me to believe that these girls....who are popular, beautiful smart, and are shown to have people wanting to be there friend...want to join this club because they have a "hard time making friend"? Really????
I can buy maybe 1 of them being popular and wanting to join the club for fun..but..I honestly was hoping/expecting for something more along the lines of "Princess Jellyfish" charters. Being a group of misfits and having there own quirks.

Ok I am going to start off by saying I would NOT recommend this anime to anyone! I could not stand anymore then just 3-4 episodes before I dropped it.
The first EPISODE had some cool ideas but fell flat...(which is why I rated the story as 1). It always pains me when i see stories that have potential but decide to go in the opposite direction or just uses this for fan service.
The jokes were immature, and the story line boring as heck feeling like each episode lasted forever.
I honest do not see why this anime exists...I mean I see some people giving it high
...
marks but for what? The charters were very one note (especially the main charter- the usual upbeat protagonist), the story dragged on forever really going nowhere, the joke immature (like B.U.E.R....seeing him and his "third leg" always just made me feel uncomfortable-just wanted to hit the person who came up with this stupid perverted charter design).
So story is a: 1
For having this cool futuristic idea with robots and androids, but FAILING to use these cools ideas dedicating the story to instead pander to fan service. Along with stupid immature jokes Giving us no real background of any of the charter, any background on robots (which would have been so awesome) or world building, no charter growth. Just no anything of real substance.
Art: 7
Ok the animation is smooth and it does have SOME actions scenes and has some details...although nothing really groundbreaking. It is pleasing to the eyes.
Sound: 5?
Maybe..? I really didn't notice anything in the background music (although for a couple times. The voice acting was "meh"..everything was "meh" since there really wasn't anything that stuck out. (although for this it is better then me hating the music for being "to cutesy" or something..could have been worse)
Charters: 4
YES A 4! Wanna know why? because the main charters were GENERIC as heck! The main charter (as stated above) is the most generic bubbly cutesy, goodly two-shoes charter- there are a handful of main charters like her!
Some examples are: Aria the Origin, Snow White with the Red Hair, Madoka Magica, Tokyo Mew Mew...just to name a few. (The best use of this type of charter would be Sakura from Card Captor Sakura)
Although Nene has to be the worst of them all! It's like they didn't even try with giving her charter a twist that would really define her (besides giving her robot limbs)! It is like they just took a generic check list and gave her all those qualities without finishing her or making her realistic or understandable in ANY WAY!
*Cute in almost every possible way? check
*Overly trusting? check
*Overly optimistic? check
*Helpful? check
* Kind to everyone she meets no matter if they try to hurt her? check
*Overly oblivious to almost everything around her? check
* Gets out of every possible dangerous situation because she is the main charter ans *SHES SPECIAL* . Along with having no real hobbies, or interest
The ONLY upside is the beautiful animation......which of course is going to be good in animation like this were the vocal audience are those who just care about the fan service.

Okay so the basic story is follows our main charter Ayu Tateishi (the popular and cool student known for her "mature" laid back attitude). Our story really starts with the introduction of Nina-who turns out can use magic and is from a magical kingdom in some other dimension (or something like that)! Ayu ends up finding out when she stumbles into Nina when she is trying to find her "magic computer"....(although Ayu ironically didn't believe in magic in the beginning)
Ayu and Nina become friends and they go though some wacky adventures together. Nina basically becomes Ayu "fairy godmother" although Nina's spells do not always go
...
as planned.
Story:
The story is creative and interesting in my opinion, it's the only story I know that actually has a backstory for the whole magical society. Along with explain why some magical people are doing in the "ordinary human world". It knows what it wants to be as a story and it does those elements wells- although this story has a habit of dropping storylines on a dime without any warning or reason (which is one of the things holding it back and the reasons that it gets a 7 in book). I mean one of the story lines that bugged me was the whole "Yuta Kirishima(Ninas former classmate from magical school) liking Nina". When he comes into the story he basically followed Nina from the magical dimension because he missed her- even though he would never admit it. They had know each other for years and when he is called out for liking Nina by Ayu he admits he does like Nina......then that story line is dropped. Like nothing else is really said about it. Yuta never confessed any feelings for Nina and Ayu never tells (which I think could have been an interesting side story for charter development). He even just goes out with this other magical girl whos a model Sayaka Nakamura. (Even though they had been basically been using each other and had showed no attraction to eachother). Also Yuta had followed Nina from a different dimension! You cannot expect me to believe he would just give up on Nina! That whole thing just bugged me.
Art:
It's okay the art style is kinda dated and cutesy. There isn't a lot of action scenes- and a personally think the art style is cute. To be honest some of the charters look the same (like the boys seem to have the same look to them with nothing to tell them apart besides a slightly different hair style).
There's nothing really dramatic or revolutionary about the drawing style.
Charter
Okay to the 2 main characters are Nina and Ayu (so ill just be doing these 2). Although there are more charters.
Nina- is the magical girl from another dimension. She is kind, sweet, innocent, and a little but clumsy. She can also be a bit dense sometimes. She was sent to earth after failing out of magical school- since earth is where all the "fluckys and drop-outs" go. I personally loved her charters as she some particular quirks that made her an overall fun charter.
Ayu- is the "cool and mature" (Not really) popular sports girl in school. Her and Ayu becomes friends. She plays off of Nina's quirks brilliantly in my opinion. Although when it comes to her crush,Tetsushi Kaji , she can be just as airheaded as Nina. Although she is always trying to play it cool she often looses it when it comes to Nina's high-jinx.
Of course there are more charters like Nina's friend Yuta, Ayu's crush Kaji- just to name a few.
It's basically a very light and fluffy novel- although there is nothing wrong with that. Not as intense as like "Harry Potter" wizards and magic but I personally think it's a good read for anyone just wanting some light reading for fun. It didn't do anything revolutionary but it wasn't bad either- I personally enjoyed it.

Ok, so I found this manga while looking around something new to read. Overall there is a reason I dropped this manga. Although I did go though a pretty good portion wanting to see how this turns out {out of curiosity}.As I had heard of this manga...
I will be going over the story, charters and art.
Story:
The story follows Ninako Kinoshita in her high school years..it is basically a story of her "first love" (which is the overall theme). She falls for Ren..who (surprise, surprise) is the most popular guy in the school. The only problem with this is that Ren has a girlfriend.
The story is
...
cute but is sometimes overly sweet...like a tooth ache. Some parts are just overly cheesy and unrealistic.
Charters:
There are many charters in strobe edge but the main 2 are Ninako and Ren.
Ninako-Is the main character of our story. She is very childish and an airhead. Which is meant to be charming but come off as annoying. Which you can tell straight away when she buys sour apples because of what some clerk said who was just trying to get rid of the merchandise. She is contently tripping and falling over. Also she gets stuck to a tree because of piece of her hair gets stuck. How gullible and useless can you be? Especially, for a high school student.
Ren-He is the main charters main love interest. He is also suppose to be the cool, mature, mysterious popular guy. Although in the beginning it comes off as him just being cold. I really do not see the whole appeal of him. I also do not buy the connection between him and Ninako
Although the fact that he tried to stay faithful to his girlfriend give him some points. He does have a strong moral compass but overall he seems very unemotional.
I saved the best for last
Takumi Ando- A.K.A the second guy who appears to complete the love triangle for Ninako, who never had a chance at the main girl to begin with. Also the best written charter in the whole darn manga with a well rounded personality. He starts off as a player (after having his heartbroken by his first lover) then develops into a pretty okay guy. He tries to do the right thing and be honest with himself as the manga goes on- to bad he never had a chance.
All the rest of the charters don't really get developed and are just there for body decoration(except for Sayuri and Daiki who are just demoted to a side story).
Art:
The art for the manga is fine and clean at the start. I admit I am not a fan of the whole "duck face" look some of the drawings but I got over it. What I couldn't handle though was how every girl looks the same along with the guys.
Overall I find this manga to be very overrated it's ridiculous. the story is unrealistic, the charters are annoying and/or unemotional, and even though the art is nice all the charters look the same.

The "Devil and her Love Song" is a beautiful story. Although I haven't finished it I am really enjoying the story so far.
The art is beautiful and clean- in my opinion. Especially the main charter Maria.
The charters seem very diverse and interesting. Everyone is very interesting and has there own past.
Although the only thing I can not understand is the intense hatred the teacher has for Maria-I mean come on! really? That teacher is so childish.
The story overall is very interesting and I like how it is a very charter driven story with interesting twist. Everything is slowly reveled to you as you keep
...
reading. The story starts when the main charter Maria comes transfers to the new school. She meets new people but with her sharp tongue easily makes some enemies. The story unfolds from their as Maria is not the type to just sit back and be quiet. (I don't want to ruin the story so I will stop there haha)
I wouldn't recommend this for anyone into action genre- as the story can be kind of slow to people. Although personally loved the story myself and would recommend it in general.
----UPDATE---
*SPOLILERS AHEAD*
I finished the manga and I can say while going threw the manga I had mixed feelings. The part were I felt that manga went downhill was the intro of *Spoilers* Maria's father-who had raped her mother when she was ONLY 14 YEARS OLD! I mean, it was an interesting part but how they introduced him a sympathetic character-COME ON! The only victim is Maria and her mother! The main romance also seemed very lacking-and Maria's charter stared to change. Instead of being the wild, open-minded, strong character she WAS. Then when she and Shin officially becomes an item her personality does a complete 180.
She is always thinking of Shin...her thought can be compressed into these small statement all having to do with Shin. "Oh I hope Shin likes my outfit" "I love Shin!" "I hope Shin and I can sing together again.."
What happened to the independent character from the beginning? Even in the manga there is a scene where a guy from a record company tells her that her singing seems like "She is always singing to one person"...and you that person is *DING DING DING* Shin! Romance is not suppose to cripple a person so much they lose all the personality and fire they had before-she should have ended up with one of the other two guys-I think. Especially Yusuke).
I know for the update I might seem like I am being spiteful but I would have to say it's because I had such high hopes for it (It was beginning one of my favorites-not anymore because of the second half). I did not buy the main romance (ruining a great charter in my opinion) and was a complete let down.
I was still able to enjoy the manga (Just no longer one of my favorites). And what I stated before about it not having a lot of action above remains the same.

Let me be honest here..I have watched all of the "The Melancholy of Haruhi"-and really didn't like it.
I found Haruhi to be a spoiled brat and the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way. Although I have to say the movie turned me into a huge fan.
The animation was outstanding (being better then the animation in the series), an outstanding story, fitting music, and wonderful charters development.
The charter development was wonderful, although not every charter went through drastic/any charter development but it was still good-and as a Nagito Yuuki fan having her actually show emotions. Everything works together and I especially loved the
...
symbolism.
Downside to this wonderful movie is having to watch the series to get what is exactly going on in the movie and fully enjoy it.
Overall I would recommend anyone who has seen the series 9-as I wish you didn't have to watch the whole series to understand the movie.
I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has watched the series.
