There are a lot of things to consider when grading this anime as it has some strong points but a lot of flaws, so let's get started.
The story is about a 13 years old boy named Baki who wants to get as stronger as he can be for one purpose: to defeat his father. The story is at weak as it sounds as there's nothing else to support it. In theory there's another reason for this as well, as Baki wants to get stronger to be admired by his mother to finally be loved by her (she loves strong people.......). There's nothing else to say
...
about the story as that is all there is to it.
The art is not that bad (given that this is from 2001) and shows what needs to be shown. The details of the body of each fighter are spectacular as it show muscles that I didn't even know they were there. The background is somewhat repetitive as you get to see either the same place of the city or a jungle.
The music falls into what I like to call the almost-annoying-yet-not-so-much category. Every tone brought me to an 80's movie due to the unfitting-ness of it with the anime. There are about 3 types of music and they get abused often enough to really question their selection.
Character development.......an enormous flaw.
There are a lot of characters in this anime due to the fact that Baki has to fight to become stronger. You do get to see some difference between them, however they all seem to be based from a generic character. Almost all of the characters that appear get none to little background to support them nor a motivation for their actions. You get to wonder who the hell is each one as you only know their name before fighting. The second half of the show is worse as a supposed "girlfriend" of Baki comes out of nowhere and all you get to know about her is her name. Even the background of Baki's father and mother is left untouched (except for an episode that "tries" to explain something about them). They could have done a better job if at least with the main characters.
After all this flaws why the hell did I enjoyed the anime? Well, if there's a strong point with this anime it should be the fights. They are well done and show the different kinds of martial arts from the world, so you get to see some action that is worth the multiples mistakes done with this anime.
A warning though; if you're going to see this anime with fansubs (not DVD subs, those may be right) you'd better know japanese, because the available versions of it have such an awful translation that you barely know what's happening (goes from "unfinished sentences" to "things said that are not translated" to "bad translation" to "things that are never said but put in the transation").

The main plot of this anime revolves around the cycling universe which for those who like sports anime is a good choice. Personally I don't like sports anime that much, however lately I've benn attracted to this new world and I've enjoyed it.
The story focuses only on one premise: the main character is a loser that's bullied by everyone and finds the only thing he may be good at, which is cycling. Of course he isn't working that hard because of this, but due to the fact that the girl he likes is the one that invited him to the cycling club. This teaches you
...
that anyone can try their best when the right motivation comes into work....jajaja
The art is good and consistent during the length of the anime, except for the few scenes that use the computer animation to show certain thing which looked pretty bad every time.
The sound is nothing out of the ordinary.
The characters are somewhat likable and Mikoto is very funny at the beginning of the series. He develops his self-confidence during the anime and becomes less of a stupid character. He shows such determination that the people around him begin to respect him.
Overall this is a good sports anime for those who are willing to give a cycling anime a chance. My only complaint is that it ends abruptly without a proper ending (may be due to a second season planned).

This is an action anime that you will remember because of precisely the action in it.
The story is somehow interesting pulling you into this "grey" world. Even though is an almost common story, say like dragon ball, in which the main character Claire faces powerful opponents again and again becoming more powerful herself, you identify yourself with the motivation of such actions.
The art is a little different from the usual anime because the colors are darker without ever using any bright color. However, the character design is something you get used to fast.
The music is very repetitive and even though it does suit the situation
...
it gets old very quickly.
The motivation of every character is almost non existent except for the main characters but for an anime of this type it is enough.
The end of the anime is rushed because it isn't based on the manga and because of that it does feel inconclusive (hope there is a second season in production).

This is one of those mecha anime that aren't precisely focused on the mecha part. Even though the mechas play great part in the story, the main focus is on the feelings and relations of the main characters and their growth as individuals.
The action sequences are nicely done even though the main focus of these sequences are based on the fact of surfing (you read it right). These fact kind of makes it weird enough but en the end they give a sense of satisfaction (in the violent side of every one of us).
The visual quality is overly good but in some episodes the quality
...
does drop considerately enough for you to notice. It's not a major problem, but it does change the final opinion.
The sound is pretty good in the anime and as I've said before it complements each situation.
The character growth is very evident through the anime and very complete for almost every major character. Sometimes you will wonder why the main male character does such childish things but remember that he is just that. Eureka on the other side shows such a variety of emotions that you can understand that every one is a first for her (you'll understand her situation when you see the anime).
Overall this anime is enjoyable even tough there are some plot holes in there.

The story doesn't seem that bad and it does has some good points, however, even by the end of the final episode there are a lot of plot holes left uncovered and some of them pretty major, so that turns out to be just a mistake you can't accept.
The male lead is cool enough to make you respect his actions while the female lead is obviously a spoiled teenager that has had everything work out perfect in her life. They are a nice combination.
The visual quality is somewhere between decent and good and there is some fanservice for those who really like that (that just
...
ruins the mood for me most of the time). The music is nothing out of the ordinary so there are no comments.
The character development is fair but as with the story it has some major plot holes so you are left with nothing but assumptions about the past of most of them.
Watch it if you really are into it but be aware of those bad aspects.

This is what you are looking for if you want a decent love anime.
The story itself is a cliché but it works for the most part so I have no complaints with it.
The art is really great and provides a good atmosphere to the show. I don't know who designed it but it reminds me a lot of gunma kisaragi's work (for the ones that know who I'm talking about).
The music is good overall and the ending song of the first half is one of the few songs that have really caught my attention. Believe me, it is that good.
The character development is good overall
...
and everyone's actions are understandable. Even though the males reactions tend to be more inclined to the naive variety they were somehow tolerable.
I won't spoil the story for you, but the relationships between every couple is nicely carried out and you do get to understand the ups and downs of a relationship.
Overall it is a good love anime and it ends just as well.

The reason you would want to see this anime is only because of two reasons. The first if you are a bread lover and really really want to see an anime of that. The second one being that you want to laugh (not of the anime but with it).
The story itself is pretty stupid but if you are reading this means that you are already interested in it so....
The art is common almost falling into the bad category but it keeps itself from doing just that.
The music goes kinda with the show but after a few episodes it really gets you, so if you can't
...
stand it you'd better stop watching it now. The story can be split into three main "sagas" and in each of them they use a common background music. That and the fact that there are 69 episodes makes you wonder why do the put the same music during so much episodes.
The character development is decent but leaves a lot of holes to fill but given the nature of the show I couldn't care less because as I said the reason to like this show is not due to this.
The reason I enjoyed the show was because of the sense of humor it has which is the only remarkable aspect of the anime. Even though the first episode is pretty generic, the ones following it are much better in terms of humor.
From 2/3 of the way of the show the things begin to turn stupid instead of humorous so watch till the end only if you really want to see how it ends and expect no more.

If you watched the anime then this is the perfect conclusion to the story that was left behind. Every other aspect of the movie is better explained with my review of the anime so you can understand its greatness:
" The story is something never seen before in another anime, and the way it is told is superb. From the first episode you can see how great it is going to turn and believe me when I say that you wont be disappointed.
The visual quality is top notch and doesn't drop in any episode.
Every song is a true masterpiece and really goes with the different situations
...
that are presented.
The character development is the best I've ever seen in an anime. Everyone's motivation is coherent and you really get the feeling of getting to know every character. There's one character (I wont spoil it to you) that you really get to hate and understand at the same time (even though you keep hating him), and it's this little details which makes you get into the world.
I have no complaints with this anime whatsoever, as it manages to bring together all the aspects of a great anime: action, mystery, betrayal, friendship, laughs and almost every color that makes up a true human being.
If you haven't watched it yet then you really have missed a lot.
As a final comment, if you're going to watch it I recommend the japanese voices over the american dub. The japanese cast's voices are better suited for the personality and age of every character than the english voices. "

This anime alongside Death Note are the only anime that in my opinion deserve a 10 out of 10 grade (of the ones I've seen).

Everything I said of the first season applies for this second season, except that there are less "laughing times":
" The story is another cliché that we've seen a lot and this time it really is bad. The main story has as many plot holes as you can imagine (without taking into consideration how bad it is itself). The visual quality is really bad taking into consideration that it's not that old of an anime.
The character development is almost non existent and for the ones that do develop it is really bad. A lot of characters make an appearance without the proper relations to the story
...
and that makes it almost idiotic.
Except for one case, everyone is either good or evil so you know where it's going to end with anyone.
The music is really stupid and even though it goes with the "atmosphere" of the show it could have been a lot better (believe me, I'm being pretty generous).
Nevertheless, the reason I enjoyed his show despite all and every bad aspect is because of it sense of humor. Almost every episode had me laughing and thats the only reason I finished it.
So if you really don't mind those incredible bad aspects and you want to laugh a little then give it a chance."
