Both titles are surrealist as hell and interestingly enough it turns out all the surreal stuff is kinda justified by similar plot devices in both titles.

Both anime depict life after death, communities of the undead and some kind of a revolt against the God. The main characters are also similar in a way: they help the undead people to actually "die" and cease their afterlife existance. There are also dramas, high schoolers fighting against the system, lots of fanservice and comedyshit in both anime.

I've just seen the previous recommendation and while I'm completely disagree with the previous person's opinion about similarities between Zetsuen no Tempest and Monogatari Series, I've remembered that I know one similarity between these two titles myself. Fuwa Aika and Senjougahara Hitagi are very much alike. They are both clever, both were the ones who actually made the first step in romantic relationships and both like to tease their respective romantic partner in a good-natured and intellectual way. I ought to say that out of all the anime I've watched, there was only one character who strongly resembles Senjougahara in terms of personality and that is Aika (and visa versa).

Vividred Operation

Both shows have a joke-level "sci-fi" setting, which looks more like military mahou-shoujo. Both shows are focused on girl's friendship, befriending enemies and some shitty drama. The funny thing is that if Symphogear feels like a third-rate clone of Nanoha, than Vividred Operation feels like a second-rate clone of Symphogear. A profanation of the genre.

The relationship between main characters and its development are quite similar, as well as overall mood and atmosphere. So, if you like one of this anime mainly for its drama part and mood (and not the setting, because they are absolutely different), there is a high chance, that you will also like the other one.
