Both animes (and other adaptions) have a serious tone with an accompanying group of close friends or interweaving relationships. The main character is OP and has a special *only me* talent. They also both have a younger sister. Both are looked down on a lot because their abilities don't match up with the mainstream beliefs of strength. Before their power is revealed they are practically considered the weakest. The main character is brought out during a climax to solve a catastrophe-level problem and both practically solve it alone. Mahouka is lighter, while Solo is heavier and more serious, but they have a similar feel regardless.

HAHHAHAAHAHAH!!!! Both of these stories are so funny! I can't stop laughing! Both of the characters are your average Japanese(or seem to be, Iruma has had a crazy past and Yamada has some crazy adaptability and mental fortitude. But other than that!)who get pulled into the demon world. At their side is a Maou-like-Chara who dotes on them a lot <3 LET'S GIVE LOTS OF HEAD PATS TO IRUMA-KUN AND YAMADA-KUN! <3 lots of doting. Both characters are also left to deal with the fact that they now have to live in this world and deal with the strange people and things in their surroundings... which would probably make any other person go crazy. The characters(or people)they come across are wacky and hilarious, and the way the main character interacts with them is enjoyable! I'm sure that, if you've enjoyed one, you will enjoy the slight differences and overall similar taste of the other! ENJOY! <3

The main character's abilities and the art in both of these stories are very different. Yet, -they are both ossan who play VR -they are suddenly thrown into their game world as if it were real and are stuck in it -both of the main characters are older in age and use their experience. This is may not seem like much, but it's the way they act as a character that gives each of these stories a particular charm. In 'Kansha' he's a calm main character and, just as it says in the title, lives his life feeling thankful for his second chance. In fact, his thankfulness seems to seep from him as he seems to unknowingly find just the right words to heals the spirits of those around him. The story '40 Kenja' is similar in this way, that he brings hope to people(mostly beautiful women)around him. Unlike the aforementioned character though, his charm is found in his wit instead of wisdom. He makes jokes and things that seem to light up a room whereas 'kansha' seems to heal people's spirits with an honest smile at the right time. This could be attributed to their ages, as well. the main character in 'kansha' is 70 years old. In this way, '40 kenja' is a much more upbeat story while 'kansha' is satisfying in a more calming and laid back way. By now, they seem like totally different stories that have little in common. Yet despite their differences the flow of the stories are similar as well as the type of aura(or feel?)they give off. If you've already read one of these stories and are looking for something similar, I suggest taking a look at the other as you may find yourself enjoying it more then you'd hoped! :D

Both of these stories are about -middle-aged men -who have OP ancient magic that can't be found now -who are well-known from their time, which is in the past, and very powerful -that find a young, blonde girl from a prominent household in a forest while they are on their way home(the girls are on their way home) -they save the young girl from DEATH and are invited to the girl's home -of course, while saving the girls, their op power is revealed and they are offered to stay in the prominent household's home to teach the young girl -both girls, despite being from a prominent household, are having troubles with magic and are looked down on in their household -After meeting the girls the middle-aged men quickly change the girl's mind about a belief of hers and gives her hope -which ends up with the young girls having 'feelings' towards these older men Despite this, the feeling of both of these stories are quite different and as they progress they seem to stray further and further from each other. Though I say this not having read all of both of them. For example, though they both have OP magic beyond what is expected, one of them wants to learn about modern magic and turns himself into a young boy to go to school(Monogatari)while going around willy-nilly doing whatever the hell he wants. On the other hand, the middle-aged man(from around 40(years)kenja)actually changes the current overly difficult magic into something more palatable. Honestly, I enjoy 'around 40 kenja' better. By a lot. His wit and come-backs are hilarious and get me every time. Instead of just being 'oh wow, he's so OP!' it's funny, ecchi, and more realistic. I really appreciate that kind of thing in a story. But those are just my thoughts... Hope this helped you find what you were looking for~! <3

Both main characters are Over-Over-OP(yes, three times). As they are transported into another world they come across a child(or children)that are abandoned and take it/them in. This world's newest member, who seems to have just as suddenly become a parent/guardian is thrust into one situation after another. The Maou, who tries to live modestly(try that with a title like demon lord)while he builds himself up, and Takumi, who's more worried about getting a roof over the twins' heads then hiding any powers the newly-made team may or may not have. Mannies rule!!!

Though not the most similar, their read is alike. Both stories are about wolves with powerful masters. WanWan is from the wolf himself, whereas Tensei Ouji is from the perspective of his master, a prince. Both of these wolves are 'legendary Fenrir' types where their power is practically unbeatable. Their love for their master may not match up to the other, but they are willing to go the distance in their own way(one is tsundere)to protect their 'family'. Which is how they think of them. Also, when they meet and accept their master, their master is still frail and powerless, only coming upon their strength as both partners(and their relationship)grow.

Both main characters have an easy-going personality. The prince more so then the commoner(in tondemo skill). Their first familiars, or contracts, are powerful wolves that have the power to easily destroy a country(In fact, they have both offered to do so for their master several times). Not only do they have power so strong even a king would bow to it, but they also continue making contracts with unbelievable creatures in this new world of theirs. Yes, they also end up in new worlds, did I forget to mention that? While the difference here is that one was transmigrated and the other reincarnated. Both main characters also find themselves making foods nobody has seen before that move the minds and bodies of those around them. Though they both do so on different levels as Tondemo Skill(...)is essentially a cooking story. This isn't to say that behind such powerful familiars they will always hide, tempting them with food to move to the mc's will. That is not the case. In fact, both mc's find their strength in what they do. An ability specific to them that otherwise was unheard of; unimaginable. Both stories are lighthearted and sweet, with comedy to spare. <3

Most of what reminds me of the other is how the main character's love interest gets along with the family. ...Or maybe the main character's family in general. Both families have their own way of doing things which freaks out the love interest. Within the romantic plot, both are slow, sweet, and not only circled around the main couple but also pulls in elements of other love stories, school life, and relationships with friends. Ani Tomo is more on the 'innocent high school first love' side of things whereas Horimiya focuses on the more realistic(I think) 'friends before lovers' side/type of a relationship. In that way, Ani Tomo is more 'moe' and 'young hs romance'. But Horimiya's comedy and character building are just as, if not more, interesting. I don't say this often but; If you like one it'll be worthwhile to check out the other. ...wa watashi no suzume desu! <3

Both are romcoms in which two brother and sister pairs fall in love with each other. Two siblings, one male one female, meet and fall for(?) their sibling's friend. In each story, there is a blonde(or light haired girl)who is into otaku-like activities but doesn't want anyone knowing. They also both also over obsess(being otakus). Though the ages are switched. In which Brothers the sister pairs are older and in Ani Tomo, the sister pairs are younger. There is a sadist in both stories who don't or can't confess their feelings.

Legend

Both were young adult males in Japan who were called from a master in another world. That master spoke to then in a spirit-like state and gave them his inheritance, magic, and knowledge so that their magic could be passed on in their world. Afterward, they both end up with an animal-esque companion with which they get along well with and work together. Along with that, they have tons of strength and lost knowledge that would shake the world would it be known. Continuing on their journey, they find a woman(though not necessarily romantic)who has something in common to them that average people would be impossible to reach. With that, they find themselves in a close relationship in which the females tend to pull the main characters into things while the male supports them from behind. These are both great Isekai mangas. Legend is more serious whereas Frog and I is casual and seems to revolve around comedy as opposed to the regular 'Op character in fantasy world' troupe.
both main characters(male)reincarnate into another world as an animal. Both also end up as pets to some great girls. Not only do their new masters seem OP, but the main characters themselves are as well! Storys about the pets protecting their masters as they grow into something far from pet-like.

I'm just going to run in head-first with this one. Both are about females(who use magic)and somehow find a pet-like companion. Neither of them knew just how much they were going to fall when they got their new helper. They seem to grow a romantic-like attachment to their new helpers the more they live with and get to know them. By no fault of the helper, might I add? Though in Behemoth it is from the 'helper's' point of view more often then not and he seems to like his... female magic user companion just as much as he likes her. In Slime Life, tsundere rule is law.

If you've read Ten Count you'll get a kick out of Graineliers. I've only read the first few chapters yet the similarities are frightening. The main character in Graineliers is named Lucas, but looks and acts exactly like Kurose from Ten Count. I found out that the similarities were due to the books being from the same author, but thst doesn't dismiss the face that these two are good to read one after the next. It proves that history does repeat. Think about it like this: Lucas and Abel from Graineliers are Kurose and Shirotani from Ten Count in their past lives. With this, everything makes sense. Luc/Kuro's blonde haired- older man friend in their childhood, his loneliness from due to his parents, the blondie who he's got a weird relationship with, his love for studying that came from the blonde-haired older man. Also, why he fell for Shirotani in his second life. I don't know if all of this was on purpose or not but it certainly akes for an interesting read. <3

Although the art isn't anything alike and the most alike to this movie is going to be either Junjou Romantica or Sekai Ichi Hastukoi which are both by the same author, I thought it would be a good one to add. -Men who work together and fall in love -Heartbroken romance(Side character) -Both have a 'large mystery' to figure out -both a movie -'Uke characters' like and do good with kids -Both inlude stories about someone's child that is intremental in finding the resolution -Both have feelings for the other side but maybe aren't willing to accept it. And the one I appreciate the most- -Both couples are aware of the other's feelings and accept(in hatsukoi-grudingly)the advances. They don't fit under the same genre as Hatsukoi is stricktly a romance and Fake is a mystery but I feel like the romance in Fake fits nicely next to Hatsukoi's. They are just similar enough in several respects that I think that if one is enjoyed the other could also be(ane maybe even be liked more).
