Note - This review does not contain spoilers of this season, but does contain spoilers of the previous one!
I love Oshi no Ko, but I feel like this season is a bit of a letdown compared to the last. What makes Oshi no Ko so different than the typical idol / showbiz anime is that it's anything but lighthearted. It has a strong dark side, about murder and vengeance.
The first season ended with Aqua joining a stage play for the sole purpose of identifying his father, who is presumably the person behind the killing of his mother Ai, as well as himself in his past
...
life. This season picks up from there.
The main issue with this season is that the vast majority of it is the preparation for the stage play and the play itself, which really feels like an average showbiz anime, one of those that you've seen one you've seen them all. The season only picks up around the 9th episode, and only then it becomes as enjoyable as the first season.
I understand that they probably wanted to stick to the source material as much as possible, which I generally consider a good thing - I don't like it when anime cuts a lot of things, but I still wander whether arc that doesn't seem very important had to take two thirds of the season.
Anyway, a 3rd season has already been announced, and at the very least the last five episodes of this season are very much worth watching and will definitely be needed to understand it. Go ahead and watch, but keep in mind that the first eight episodes might feel somewhat boring.

This is basically the Isekai / Fantasy version of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
A depressed writer almost achieves his dream of committing double suicide with his lover Sacchan, when they're both hit by a truck and sent to another world. Sensei is welcomed as a hero who would save the world from the dark lord - but he is extremely weak without any cheat powers, and furthermore, he has no intention of saving anyone. His only goal is to find Sacchan, who, presumably ended up somewhere else, and finish up their original suicide plan, though he wouldn't mind it even if he dies before finding her.
Furthermore, it
...
seems that the dark lord had already been slain by other otherworlders, those with real cheat powers, which then become as tyrant as the dark lord himself, if not more so.
Surprisingly, it seems that Sensei is the world's big hope against the rogue otherworlders. He's joined by the elf who welcomed him to the world, as well as a beastwoman whom he accidentally ended up saving from a monster while attempting to get killed by said monster.
Sensei can potentially save the world - but that might prove to be difficult, seeing that he has no motive to do so and just wants to die.

This is probably the first iDOLM@STER series I did not like whatsoever.
Up until now every iM@S anime had some kind of dramatic element - whether a competitor with a grudge and without ethics, a firm director who wants to disband everyone and start over, or sometimes just the slice of life elements like the hardships and emotional relationships between the idols.
This show has absolutely NOTHING. There is nothing I can write about the plot because, frankly, there is none. It's as generic as you can get - a bunch of teenage girls doing some practice, making their debut, becoming idols and making it to a
...
live show. That's the entire plot of the anime in a single sentence.
Maybe the only people who would want to watch it are those who seriously played the game it's based on and maybe some hardcore moe fans - and even then I wouldn't be too sure.
My recommendation - Just skip this. Hopefully the next one would be better.

The synopsis written in the description is very misleading so I figured I'd write my own. Unfortunately it's not possible to even describe this show without spoiling the first episode, so YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Anyway, this show is not just idols and about being one (although it partially is). It has a very dark side as well.
Gorou Amemiya, a gynecologist in a countryside hospital, is a huge fan of top idol Ai Hoshino, so he's devastated when she goes on hiatus due to health issues, but then she shows up in his hospitals and it turns out she's actually pregnant with twins. Unfortunately for Gorou,
...
he is stabbed to death by a stalker fan of Ai, who finds out about her pregnancy. To his surprise, he is reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino - one of Ai's (hidden from view) children.
He enjoys life as a top idol's kid with his twin sister Ruby (who also happens to be reincarnated), until one day she is also stabbed to death - by the same stalker, right in front of Aquas's eyes. While the killer himself commits suicide shortly after, Aqua realizes that he had too much inside information, meaning that he must have had an accomplice from Ai's inner circle, and swears revenge, but in order to sniff out the culprit, he needs to stay in the showbiz. Meanwhile, his sister Ruby tries to follow her mother's footsteps and dying wish and become an idol herself.

This is really one of my favorite anime shows of all times, because I look at the protagonist and feel something like "this is I", and I think many of the people over 25-30 or so will feel the same.
This is the story of Kyouya Hashiba, a 28 year old game developer, or so he wants to be, but the company where he worked, if it can even be called a company, had just gone bankrupt and he finds himself without a job. He thinks about the most popular artists of the time - Akishima Shino, one of the best animators of all times, N@NA,
...
a singer whose shows always sell out, Kawagoe Kyouichi, a very successful writer and novelist. Together they are known as the "platinum generation" - and they're all Kyouya's age! Looking back at his decision he regrets the biggest mistake of his life - back when he was 18, just fresh out of high school, he was accepted into a prestigious university of arts, but ultimately decided to go to general studies for a more "stable" job. He wonders whether he could have been part of the platinum generation if he had went to that university, so when one day he wakes up and finds himself thrown back in time ten years ago, just before he made that fateful decision, he is determined not to repeat that same mistake.
This anime is about a person who actually gets to do what many of us dream of. To get a second chance to retroactively change our life course, and this is why I and probably many of you would personally relate.
There is one warning though, which is the reason I'm not giving it a perfect 10 - like many shows, this is based on a light novel, and the anime does not adapt the source material all the way to the end. This is more or less the norm rather the exception in anime, however in this case, the light novel was never translated into English (at least as of the time of writing this). If you finish watching this and want to know how the story continues you'll have to either read it in Japanese or rely on fan translations (quality varies).

First of all - this is my first time watching an anime adaptation after already have read the source material, so my review might be a little tainted. I guess you should probably watch the anime first and then read the LN. This is the second LN from FUNA that receives an anime adaptation and the first one (Average Abilities) was poorly adapted imho, since the adaptation strayed away from the source material to the point where you'd have to read the LN from the beginning if you wanted to continue where the anime ends, so I did not expect much here either - but
...
I had a pleasant surprise since this anime is a lot more faithful to the LN (even though not perfectly).
Regarding the content - It's always nice to find an Isekai anime that's not the "hero saves the world" cliché. This series is unique since the heroine is able to jump at will between Earth and the other world. She realizes that the worlds are different enough that something that is sold for cheap in one world might be worth a fortune in the other - and she decides to monetize, with the goal of piling up enough money for an early retirement - but obviously things don't always work as expected.

In one word - "meh". You know how almost every anime has that fanservice episode involving swimsuits or another random episode that has nothing to do with the story (usually involving Christmas or another holiday)? Well why make a single episode if you can make an entire season?
I like Tensura, it's one of the only well made isekai anime around, but Tensura Nikki doesn't give any of the vibes of the parent show. It seems that they tried to make a gag anime based on Tensura but the jokes are repetitive and it just gets boring after the second episode. I really don't believe I
...
actually watched this all the way to the end but since I have I can just tell you this - If you watched a couple of episodes and weren't thrilled you can safely drop this, it doesn't get any better.

The TL;DR - What a letdown.
This is incredibly disappointing because the first season was brilliant, with so many reviewers giving it a perfect 10, it was one of the best psychological anime I know. On a first glance, the second season appears to be just as promising but this is only for the first few episodes. It then turns into a complete mix of clichés and things that would make you scratch your heard mumbling "wtf". Possibly a part of it is that there will be no 3rd season and they wanted to conclude the story, which may sound like a good intent but with
...
only 11 episodes, the story development seems extremely rushed, to the point where things don't seem to make any sense, maybe unless you've read the manga (which I haven't so please forgive me if I'm mistaken).
If this show deserved a second season then the proper thing to do would've been to go for a 3rd and 4th season as well in order to adapt the original material properly. Otherwise they should've just stopped with the first. Such a shame.

To be honest - I don't know why it has so many perfect score review. Don't get me wrong, it's a sweet slice-of-life anime with a taste of fantasy that's definitely worth watching if you like the genre but it's far from perfect. This review will contain spoilers but these are not about what happens in the anime but rather what *doesn't* happen, which is my main disappointment here. If you prefer not to read that, that's ok. The TL;DR is - The show ends in a way which reminds me of the cases where the original manga / novel continues past the end of
...
the anime, however in this case the source material ended before the anime adaptation began and therefore a lot of things remain unexplained.
Basically this is a story about the Haibane, a group of people whose appearance resembles angels - They have wings, although they are way too small for them to fly (they can move them though) and halos (though those are molded and given to them at birth). All of the Haibane live (alongside humans) in a certain (unnamed) town which is surrounded by walls and nobody (neither Haibane nor human) is allowed to go out. All outside trade is done via a different race called the Toga, which communicate only using hand gestures and only to specific people called the Communicators. Haibane are "born" by hatching from cocoons. They already have general knowledge when born but no identity and live in the town until their "day of flight", where they go to a specific point in the woods near town and vanish in a ray of light, presumably finally gaining the ability to fly and leave the town walls.
The story follows a Haibane girl named Rakka from the moment she hatches and her relationship with her friend and mentor, a Haibane named Reki, as well as the group of Haibane she lives with in a dormitory they call "old home". It seems that the Haibane are not exactly perfect angels.
So what exactly is the disappointment? MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!
Because the ending completely ignores the biggest mysteries presented in the first episode: What exactly are the Haibane to begin with (the only partial answer is that the Haibane are not sure themselves), what's outside the town walls and why nobody's allowed out (completely ignored) as well as what happens to a Haibane after their day of flight. It's seriously as though the story is expected to continue but never does. Really too bad.

This anime is basically an isekai anime but in this world. The background of the story is that there are many different "other worlds" that people from earth have been summoned into. In some of those worlds there are dimensional portals, allowing the "heroes summoned from earth" to eventually return and about half of them do. Furthermore, it seems that heroes who've gained superpowers, be it super-strength or magic, get to keep them when they come back. There is a special school called "Babel", intended only for those returnees, which helps continue train them for... some purpose.
Our story begins where your usual isekai story ends
...
- The hero's, named Ousawa Akatsuki, who, is obviously overpowered but also really perverted (with a signature move of stripping women's bra in a split-second without them even noticing), just killed the dark lord of a world called "Alayzard". Although the kingdom where he resided refused to let him go, he escapes and returns through the dimensional portal and not only that, he also takes a girl with him - Miu, who happens to be the daughter of the dark lord. Since people native to other worlds are not supposed to be able to use the dimensional portals and none ever has, Miu has to hide her identity and pose as Akatsuki's little sister as they both enroll at Babel. Meanwhile Akatsuki becomes one of the school's troublemakers, as he picks fights with delinquents, strips girls and becomes a target of the student council. Still, people realize that, as troublesome as he is, his powers are the real deal.
This anime is anything but mind-blowing, but is a refreshing new aspect of overpowered isekai shows, making it fun to watch casually, but don't expect anything incredibly thrilling. The ecchi aspects are notable, making this show NSFW, but not something that the plot revolves around.
Bottom line - This is the kind of anime I watch when I just sit casually in front of the TV and don't want to watch something "deep".
