I just finished re-watching this, and I'm really shocked at how good it is. Like all the greatest satires, this meta-Isekai send-up manages to both make fun of and embody the best version of Isekai tropes. Both in its satirical elements, and with its modern-day comedy, it's genuinely funny, which is something I can say of very few anime.
Both the primary modern-day characters and the host of harem-members from the fantasy world are surprisingly well-drawn and wholesome. Ojisan himself, despite mostly being the butt of jokes, manages to serve as the heart of the story.

I really can't say enough about how good this remake is. It takes the core experience of the old anime an completely reinvigorates it. All of the cartoonish action and plot elements of the original are here and better than ever, while the cartoonish relationship dynamics have been massively upgraded with truly excellent writing. In particular, Akane is... just... I want to say a new character, and that's really true, to a degree. She is obviously the same character in many ways, but in the first five episodes, she has been so sympathetically and relatably written that she kind of steals
