I won't say this is the worst sequel of an anime I have ever watched, but I would still say I feel like I have wasted a day of my life watching this second season. The first season was confusing enough with crapton of answered questions and cliffhangers. But this one only added more confusion to it and made my experience of this anime horrible.
Story 3/10:
They had SO MUCH storyline to work with. It's not that they were trying to come up with plot as it progressed. They already had enough. But they never bothered to touch on any of them.Bear with me but I sure need to list
...
some of them. They did not explain:-
1.Why the 2 gates appear in the first place?
2.Who exactly are Syndicate? What is their story? Why and since when they start to exist?
3.Why and how is Amber related to the Heaven's gate?Who the hell is she anyways?
4.[spoiler]EXACTLY WHERE THE HECK DID THIS LOLI COPY-WATEVER SUOU OR SHION OR THEIR FATHER EVEN COME FROM?
5.[spoiler] What the heck eve happened to Misaki?
6.[spoiler]What the heck is Shion? What did he even want?
7. THE GODDAMN ENDING.WTF WAS THAT (sorry i just lost it.it was HORRIBLE)
Art 7/10:
The art-style was pretty nice judging that it came out in 2009.The action scenes was nicely done.I really enjoyed watching all the fight scenes, even though the first season had better and more scenes than this one.
Sound 8/10:
The music is astounding! I think the reason why I continued to watch it till the end is because of the background music. It really highlighted the scifi-ness of the show.
Character 2/10:
I think I am more disappointed by the character development than the plot development. It was even more horrible.Every single character are kept in mystery. And not even like mystery for the sake of making people think about them(like those psychological animes). It was just plain annoying and irritating.I would have to say- all of them are developed half-assed.I don't know if it has a novel or manga where they explain them better later on.But as for the anime,it was disappointing af.
Enjoyment 6/10:
I gotta say,I only enjoyed it because of the soundtracks it had.
Overall 5/10:
The ending was extremely weak. After watching both of the season, only thing I'm left with is pure disappointment and thought "I should've just ended it with first season.I shouldn't have watched the second season."The first season ending was pretty weak too.But it was WAAAAAY better compared to this one.I hope they would remaster this season or make a movie or something with better explanation about everything.

This is one of the very rare animes that I call "masterpiece."Everything in this anime, from story to character development to plot twists everything were outstanding to me. This anime does not hold any "deep meaning" to our human world. As if,the story takes place in another dimension and everything it portrays on it are based on the world it presents. I would say, after rewatching for 4 times, this anime presents an example of how societies are build and goes through reformation as well as what would happen if an apocalyptic situation happens.
Story 10/10:
The anime is from the point of view of the protagonist Watanabe Saki. The story is
...
about the society she lived in.The era is 1000years into the future from modern time, where humans possess psychokinesis power called "cantus."It is taken place in district in Japan called Kamisu 66,where Saki and the 4 other main character Satoru,Maria,Mamoru, and Shun lived.Story started from her enabling cantus power when she was 12 and graduating from Harmony school to Sage Academy and reuniting with the 4 others.Afterwards, they went to 7-day adventure trip from school, where they learned about the violent past and truth about how their society came to be.From highschool 2 years later, frustrating events started to happen and 3 of them were victims of it.During then,Saki learned that their society is corrupted that is afraid of children and their creativity. If child is given the freedom of imagination, their cantus might go berserk and fiend will born from it,which can burn cities into ashes.Their society's main hidden goal is to mind control everyone's behavior and memories so their cantus could stay under control. However, during the 2nd part of the story,Saki had close encounter with a child that has gone fiend and how she caused mass destruction to Kamisu 66.Her previous events in her childhood gave her enough experience to make valuable decision about how to defeat the fiend to save humanity and help them recover.
Art 10/10
The artstyle is pretty simplistic, which is the beauty of this show. The story is pretty critical, therefore simple artstyle helped to balance it out.
Sound 10/10
1 of the main theme song is like a traditional orchestra type of song, which is used when a resolve is presented after a plot twist.During moments when something bad was going to happen or Saki thinks that something is mysterious,a kind of creepy music is used that highlights the thrill of the moment.Another ost is "Going home" which is used when Saki feels extremely sad after remembering something from the past, giving it a feeling of sad nostalgia. This ost is Antonin Dvorak's "New world Symphony no:9" 2nd movement.
Character 10/10:
Even though it was from the perspective of Saki, other characters were developed nicely, each with their own thoughts and personalities. But the most astounding character was the villain queer-rat Squealer.Even as a villain,he portrayed every single personality a villain was supposed to have and carried it till the very end.He was cunning, highly intelligent and strategic. His actions easily deceived Saki, but even she failed to go against him, knowing that she was getting played by Squealer's trick.
Enjoyment and overall 10/10:
I said before, this anime is a masterpiece.Every time I rewatch it,I can't take my eyes off from it because every single event keeps me engaged with watching the series.Every single episode brings some sort of plot twist. This anime will always be 1 of the best animes in my list.

In short, this is a quite enjoyable anime. The story is well written, even though it might appear boring for some if not most people. However, those of you who likes to watch show based on mythologies, this is a perfect anime for you.
Story:
The story is well-paced.I have not seen any sort of rush in both of the season. It developed it's way through from the very first episode till the end and resolves all the conflict it presents. The first season starts off with introducing Tamayori hime and the five seal guardians, and quickly brings in the enemies into the plot without wasting any time.Instead of slowly talking about the
...
Tamayori and Onikirimaru legend,it instead tells the story part by part.I'm pretty sure this is what throws a lot of viewers out who wants to see a quick plot that goes straight into action. However,I believe the approach they took to tell the story was a good one, even though it flushes out most of the viewers. The story focuses on mythology, even though I am not sure if it's a made-up mythology of Onikirimaru or if it's a real mythical character. But since I like animes that focuses on this sort of topic, I enjoyed it a lot.
Art and sound:
The art was pretty modern. The colors gave it more of a mythical vibe,as if it has taken place a long time ago.The battle scenes were pretty badass and the flashy skills the characters did were exciting. The sounds also boost the tension during the battle scenes.(P.S : I love the 2 opening songs though <3 )
Character:
The story begins with introducing a mentally lost girl who moved in to the village from Tokyo and suddenly learned that she was some sort of a hime who is suppose to strengthen some sort of seal to protect the world ...I'm pretty sure if you are walking in the street and suddenly someone takes you away to White House and says you are president now,you will feel quite lost.Along with her,the story introduces 5 guys who are the guardian of the seals she is suppose to protect and the enemy team who is trying to break the seal.Throughout the 2 seasons, her friendship and relationship between the 5 guardian are increased. However, some of the characters are left in the dark except for Takuma.I feel like they should have gave more characteristic to the other 4 character and why or how their family started to protect Tamayori hime and such.
Overall, like I said before, I liked this anime a lot.Even though I know it's from an Otome game,so it was natural to see some reversed-harem going on,which is 1 of my favorite genres. However,I was happy when she actually acted on her own and picked someone, unlike other reversed-harem animes. But,the storyline on this anime were more interesting to me rather than who she picks.Plus,it was obvious in the 2nd season too, since everyone is a good friend to her,but there was only one who was most important to her. I wish they would make more animes like this.

To simply put,the anime community's expectation is really complicated.Even if someone creates just the perfect anime that "everyone" is looking for, there will be no doubt that something or someone will completely ruin it.Perhaps sometimes,it's not just that particular something or someone to blame.Sometimes,it's just how things are.
Yes,I'm talking about once "most anticipated" Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, the anime that EVERYONE thought of looking like the clone of Shingeki no Kyoujin. And I don't blame the viewers, because I thought the same too.And it was my motivation to continue to watch it in the first place. But...
Story:
The was decent. And I mean flat-out decent. It's a overly "simple" straight linear progression.
...
It introduced to the problem, gave a gradual slope rise, introduced the villain, jumps to the climax where the entire beginner plot turned upside down(maybe tried to create a "holy shit!" type of failed excitement),then it progresses down the slope very fast and ends up with the villain dead and everyone lives "happily ever after."Hey don't get me wrong,I have no problem with positive endings.But...you know...this is too common, lol. And it is nowhere close to the twist and turns and mystery of Shingeki no Kyoujin. Please don't compare them anymore.
Art:
The art style was pretty unique. It was not anywhere close to Shingeki no Kyoujin. It was not overly detailed. But the scenes are fluent the visual effects are exciting to look at.It did give off a apocalyptic theme with dark colors.
Sound:
The music and soundtrack were fair and it blended in with the scenes. They were quite noticeable.
Character:
The character info and development was a disappointment to me.They overly summarized the character's personality, mentality and history. There were many characters who are left unknown even though they were connected to the main characters. They just picked out the most notable characteristics of the characters and only spent time on that, which made the story too simple to watch and confusing regarding how or why the characters got involved with the main story.
Enjoyment and overall:
I tried to keep the review short, but I know it's still a bit long. But I had a lot to say about this series.Honestly, when Biba was introduced and the entire story turned to "I want to kill my father because REVENGE!" plot,I totally started to hate it.I even wanted to quit it if it wasn't for only 12 episodes.I enjoyed the story in the beginning and had high hopes for it.But toward the end,I didn't like it as much.It was too common, too simple, too strightforward and not at all like Shingeki no Kyoujin.I wish they made the story more like that. But this anime is just like that - really pretty outer look, but dumb inside.

Before I start the review,I've known that this anime is originated from the game "Kiznaiver",However, after the anime ended,I wasn't able to find the game in google to compare it to,so I will do review based on the story development of the episodes.
Story: 7
Honestly, the story started off really slow.On the first 2 episode,I really felt like droppingg the anime because it was too slow for me.But soon the story slowly starts to develop by first bringing the Kiznaivers together and bulding connection among them instead of forcing viewers to gulp some idea or storyline without explaining. It does not just throw a solution of mystery to
...
the viewer,it actually develops it and gives evidence on how it was solved and the background story(hint:Sonozaki Maki). However, the story does take a major turn with the drama which will probably blow your mind because how the story take a transition from kiznaivers being friend from suddenly they are in love with eachother and fighting over eachother like a chain reaction, when one person rejects,it just end up breaking the friendship between all of them. However I was kind of disappointed with how the story ended, because I wished they would reveal more of the history of Katsuhira and Noriko's time of kiznaiver experiment and how or why it started. The ending clearly seemed too rushed since it made my feel like the story could develop more after Noriko started an all out "connection" experiment in the city. However, the ending matches up so it was alright.
Art: 7
The art seems pretty unusual compared to other animes; it is like a game.So I'm guessing the art is similar to the one in the Kiznaiver game. It's not half bad;the art does not bother as much at all.It gives an impression of the game so it's pretty cool to me.
Sound: 5
Starting of with the opening theme,it's pretty trippy. The sounds in the game also go along good with the overall progress of the story, but it's not overwhelmingly astounding. When there's a need for an action-packed scene, they add a combat-like music to sync with it. But most of the time,I kind of don't really notice the background sound because it is kind of subtle.
Characters: 8
The major characters in this anime are all connected to kiznaiver experiment, where Noriko and Katsuhira were the first ones to start the experiment as it seems like. But they gradually unpack the relation between the characters and their history.I would say they did a really good job with the development of the characters even though there are still some that are left totally unanswered. For example, they did not reveal the history o Noriko except that she was always "alone" and they did not also mention histories of the other kiznaiver that Noriko were friends with. However, the ending makes it end smoothly and they don't need to have a second sequel season. I wished they reveal more of the history of the characters in the anime except of just showing their personalities when it comes to the person they like. They kind of make the character relation look cheap because how it was suddenly all about love and love-triangles.
Enjoyment: 7
As I mentioned in the beginning of the review,I wanted to drop the anime when I started watching it.I actually it put off to the side to add it on my drop list. However, when it was almost halfway into the anime and they developed the relationship between the characters,it was more enjoyable and I wanted to watch what comes after. Before it was confusing with how everyone just popped into existence. But since suddenly it was all about love triangles,I did not enjoy it more. But those were only during the last 2-3 episodes so it was still interesting to see what happens between the kiznaivers after.
Overall: 6
The story was really interesting and unique before they brought love between the kiznaivers into the story. My excitement dropped after that even though I liked how the story progressed. If they didn't rushed it to end the story,I would've given this anime a 7.

I don't want to give a lengthy review for this, because my main goal is to just notice the main strength, weakness, and my opinion on each.
Story: The story is ok. I would not say it's a typical type story. Storyline is taking place in the past, probably during the wartime(it's completely fiction). It involves action so I would not say it's entirely unique, but I think they could've developed it a little bit more. It was going toward a good story if they did not rush too much.
Sound: The soundtrack is not anything out of ordinary. For some action scenes it tries to add dramatic sense
...
to it, mostly ninja or samurai type. But the story overpowers the soundtrack, so sometimes it's even hard to notice the background music.
Character: I want to refrain from spoilers, but this is more like a story of 3 brothers of a wellknown family. The character developement were kind of...too common. It's like those type of characters who are always lying on the ground saying "I'm weak;I should just die off," and then suddenly turning point appears and they are like "I want to be stronger and protect everyone." This is too common in most action/drama-genre animes.
In conclusion,it was an OK anime. It's too dramatic for me and in some places(Spoiler: by the end) it turns into knot which reminds me of Naruto story a lot.Basically, I would say this story is like a mini version of Naruto plot, like 1/60th of Naruto plot. I actually quit this anime after watching first 4 epi,but I recently went back and finished it. Not a great anime, but it's those type of anime to watch when you are bored or can't decide on anything to watch.
