Welcome To Black Hogwards, Mob-kun!
I will say, only reason I picked it up was because of the opening song, that apparently is from the 2nd season to begin with.
So we have a single braincell guy with no magic getting admitted to a magic school(how original), except this one falls flat in almost all aspects that aren't rare action scenes and voice acting. It's predictable and honestly- unfunny. The characters are as follow: Mob after he finally builds up his muscles, blue Dan Heng, literally Toto(with a pinch of Zeinitsu mixed in), a comic relief Love Interest, Sasagawa Ryouhei but boring(I guess that's why he's a
...
side character), and Natsu if he had Sanji's personality.
Sure it's clearly a parody, but due to the lacking one trick pony humor it feels more like a slop thrown together on a whim, and that makes it rather boring compared to many other parody series(one example I can think of is Mahou Shoujo, Ore!). I'm sure that many people will find this kind of surface level comedy entertaining and funny, but personally to me it was meh, there was not a single time I burst out laughing or even had a chuckle. Maybe the manga was able to build up to the jokes, but the anime didn't do much with them...
As for plot- what can I say except it's been done many times before and in a better way? So if you're looking for comedy anime with a bit of action but also one that includes character growth, interesting, engaging plot and actually good action scenes you will find more enjoyment in places like Mairimashita! Iruma-kun!, Mob Psycho 100, and even Black Clover.
... Or you can watch Mashle and go to sleep with the immerse feeling of having just wasted your time after the same joke has been shown on screen 10th time within a minute.
