Rare for anime to make me cry. Immortality (or close to it) is such a terrific medium to explore death and what connections we make with people, how they grow over time. The animations and music are gorgeous as well. Explore the threads of fate with them.

Oh my gosh, so adorable! Reincarnation with good writing that isn't aimed to be a comedy! Let them cook. I promise you'll enjoy their experiences as they work towards their lofty goals with the world against them!

Desert planet? Check. Ancient space age technology? Check. One of the space agers inexplicably thrust into the surface world? Yep. Oh and these rock the 3D style of animation too. I enjoyed the touches of humor each had while otherwise just navigating an apocalyptic hellscape trying to avoid annihilation. If you like dystopian sci-fi then these are up your alley.

Seems the trope of Fantasy World with an RPG Leveling System is all the rage these days, and these both fit that vibe, and reincarnated as classically inanimate objects to boot. I appreciated the humor they both took and how they tried to be light on fan service so they can focus on a slightly more serious plot despite the silly setting.

These are both like DnD parties of one neurotypical surrounded by autistic companions. They get dark when they need to but are otherwise super wholesome adventures with characters learning more about themselves and how to make the most with their relationship with others, and how to deal with their quirks.

Tired of power leveling? Prefer mental chess games trying to counter specific abilities and morally grey characters? Bungo Stray Dogs is a seinen evolution from HxH that dives into dark plots and has more modern animation quality.

What better way to catch a criminal than with a criminal? These have both "solved crime" in one way or another by mysterious scientific means and really blur the line of free will. Detective work in a futuristic era, but with a catch. I also liked how serious and philosophical they both were and focused around an adult cast of characters.

Ingress the Animation

There's always something beyond what meets the eye. While Psycho-Pass had its enigma of the Sibyl System, Ingress is meanwhile this world of Exotic Matter one can glimpse with the right technology. Actions of persons aware and unaware of the system's true nature are quite different in how they shift their motivations and who they will ally with. It's also another adult cast that focuses on more seriousness in the wake of espionage.
