K-On!

Both shows follow two bands that display the absolute brutality that music can offer. It's almost unbearable to watch, but in terms of intensity, K-on edges it out for me. Sawako could've easily have been in Detroit Metal City. She would fit in perfectly. If you watch both shows back to back it may blow your fucking mind. Make sure grandpa isn't in the room, otherwise his penis may fall off and his heart WILL explode. There's also an urban legend where if you watch both shows simultaneously at 3:33am, Yui and Krauser will show up in your room at the dead of night, and rock your fucking socks off with an earth-shattering double solo, composed by Lucifer J. Morningstar himself. "The Devil's Sonata Restriction #666 in E-Minor." Prone to cause anal leakage. A composition so complex and deadly, not even Steve Vai and Joe Satriani would touch it. May cause nausea, sore throat, cold like symptoms, and penile explosion. You have been warned, pussy.

Mirai Shounen Conan

Totalitarian dictatorship in a post-apocalyptic setting. The "government" of each anime is trying to kidnap and use the secondary main character, who are both girls, for their own plans and personal gain. Both main villains begin to lose their sanity as the show goes on and become power hungry. In Now and Then, the case could be made that the villain had already lost his mind from the beginning. Both villains have attractive women as personal guards, both main characters are young boys who have a very black and white view on the world and a strong ethos against killing. They also tend to act without knowing what they're doing or having a real plan in mind. Now and Then is a much more brutal and depressing watch compared to Future Boy Conan. Both have violence, but the themes, implications, and actions of the characters are pretty tragic to watch.

Both shows are 90's harems, but Aa! Megumi-sama is a little more subtle about what it's trying to be. While Tenchi is more upfront and obvious about being a harem, Megumi-sama's main character by the end of episode one is already in a relationship. This goes against Tenchi's "Anyone could hook up with Tenchi and it's completely up in the air." Both shows have multiple women living under the same roof with a young man, and the girls are associated with aliens or have some kind of supernatural abilities.

Both anime are magical, fantasy series with similar senses of humor. Cute adorable magical girl goes on an adventure with a male/male comrades. Goofiness ensues. Definitely made for children, but can be enjoyed by anyone of any age.

Ashita no Joe

Both shows are very character driven stories, both main characters in the beginning hate/don't care for the sport they're forced to participate in, both main characters slowly age and grow as people as the show continues, both main characters have an experienced mentor guiding them throughout the entire show, and both shows are dramas at heart. The sport is prominent, yes, but at it's core, both shows are dramas. Ashita no Joe is more dark than Hikaru no Go, however.
