A rather heavy-handed yet startlingly accurate depiction of Japan's current political climate made for wonderful backstory to this Manga, as it's surprisingly likable antihero Shou "Akumetsu" resolves to take-on the system and eliminate corruption, one crooked politician at a time.
Any comparisons between this and DeathNote are completely irrelevant as this masterpiece is in a league of it's own.

All I can say for this show is,
Way to make a come-back! :) bd After what must have been a Decade, the good folks at FUNimation™ decided to resurect one of the greatest titles of the Anime genre. I must say I really enjoyed seeing all my favourite Characters again, seemingly unchanged by the passage of time. Even the seyuu's (voice actors) were exactly the same as I remembered them. Considering that this particular title was one of my childhood-favourites, I can safely say that Justice has been done to the Series, as "Slayers - Rvolution" follows the show's recepy of 3-parts Comedy, 2-parts Mayham and Destruction ... A Space-Opera in 3 acts, "Kiddy Grade" in my (humble) oppinion should rightfully be regarded as a Classic of the Genre.
Although, as many are quick to point-out, the show is off to a "Slow Start" [spoiler]Which apparently involves fighting five armed Cyborgs bare-handed and foregoing an inter-Planetary War[/spoiler], somehow it manages to never seem boring, if maybe a bit easy-going at times. To that i have to attribute the copious doses of fanservice, splendid mecha graphics, and to a lesser extent the Classical Victorian style implemented in the artwork, from balroom-dances to Lumiére's schoolgirl *ahem* I mean work-uniform, which help to give the Series ... |
