Setting aside those numbskull who says isayama butchered the story, or is not to their liking, it's his work, let the man cook, and he does just that, I don't see any falloff to the story, or any point where he throw any of the material aside.
I dare say no show will ever come close to what aot is, heck no show is aot, you can look at a show and say, oh I've seen this before, name one title that bare any resemblance to aot, in terms of its idea, story, and execution, the action scene is just mecha kaiju fight, but even that
...
has it's own uniqueness.
The buildup, how all the plot points are tied together, is hard to do, you wouldn't think a premise about man eating giants would accumulate to what it came to be now, anyone can come up with an ending, but what makes the series special is what fills in those gap, no part is wasted on nothing, character development and how they all came together at the end is great, just the choice of music during action sequences doesn't fit the overall theme.
