Tl;Dr Boruto's writing is terrible, the characters forgettable even after 100 episodes. Life is short. Don't waste what little time you have on earth trying to find something as good as good as OG Naruto, here's not where you'll find said quality.
I watched 100 episodes of Boruto then 100 episodes of Naruto,so you don't have to.
By Episode 100 of Boruto, I only barely knew the characters, let alone cared about them,
The first few episodes are pre Boruto the movie so the episodes feel like filler.
Boruto himself and the rest of the supporting cast are completely unlikeable/have no agency, except for Sarada but they'll never

flesh her out, cause even Naruto's greatest flaw was writing female characters.
By episode 100 of naruto, I watched Lee struggle with the 50% chance he'd die getting to trying to fulfil his dream and guy being there for him, swearing on his own life and meaning it 100% despite neither of them having any control of the situation,, I knew how it would turn out but I still felt really invested in the storyline and It even got me to like Tsunade even more during the course of the rewatch.
By the 100th episode of Naruto I new the characters from the rookie 9, to the sanin to, Ramen guy and Iruka and I cared for them deeply.
I knew there world and it felt grounded, like I could go live in it like it had always been there it felt almost real. By the 100 episode Mark.
In boruto. It was,

literally they reuse the assest like 4000 times during that arc
And that's when I realised I just watched 100 didn't know any of the characters, and honestly wouldn't have cared if a half of them got killed off cause there all fodder, right down to mitsuki.
That's when I knew the writing was trash, they say it's good to give an anime a shot of 3 episodes before you give up on it
But for the love of Naruto I gave it 100 and I regret wasting that time in my life. That could have been used for soooo much more. Don't make the same mistake I did hoping it would be good, If you just got invested, you won't and from what I hear it, just gets worse please end this fever dream of a show cause to me after Boruto TNG movie, nothings cannon and Naruto ended there.
It's better than this mess, wearing the skin of its predecessor trying to convince us the audience we love it.
