I had heard nothing about this book, and I only knew that it was a movie, and likewise heard nothing about it, no feedback, no opinions, no nothing. I wasn't really into the live-action movies too much, but when I saw the book on the shelf, I was like, "Wait...this is a novel, too?" So I bought it and I'm actually thankful I did. I think I ended up liking this better than the other Death Note novel I read (The Los Angeles BB Serial Murder Cases), because it was an easier story to follow, despite the fact that I hadn't seen any of the

I actually didn't hear about this novel until I read something about it in Anime Insider (before they went under). Then I started seeing fanart of Beyond Birthday, and that just made me want to read the book even more. When it finally came out in Barnes & Noble, I was so excited, I nearly squeed right there in the manga aisle. Initially, I was expecting some sort of epic showdown between L and BB, and though it didn't turn out that way, I wasn't too disappointed when I got to the ending. Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of the author's style of

I had heard so much about this anime before I actually saw it last week. Needless to say, I got raged at by some of my friends for not seeing it sooner, but I think it's better that I saw it at this age, because I doubt I would've understood it back when I was younger.
Though the ending didn't completely make sense to me, I thoroughly enjoyed Akria, because of its story, the animation style and the characters. I also loved the dubbing, I thought it was good. It was funny, I was recognizing voice actors immediately. I heard Tetsuo and thought, "That's ... Sep 10, 2009

Okay, this may just be because I saw the anime first, but wow...just freakin wow. The authors really weren't kidding when they said they were bringing us a different aspect of the anime in the manga. Good god!
I just recently bought volume 3, the final volume in the series. They only told of what Gankutsuou did to one of the three men who "betrayed" him (not gonna say who), and then they kinda scattered the rest of the characters to the wind. While I did like the manga, I truly and deeply prefer the anime. Like Blood +, for me, the manga left me unsatisfied ... Jul 12, 2009

This has to be one of my original favorites, back when Toonami was the shit. Right off the bat, I dubbed Mutio as my favorite character, because I was very into non-human characters. Since I saw it right around the time I started listening to Gorillaz, I initially thought that Hayami looked a little like Murdoc, or Murdoc looked a little like Hayami. Either way...
It took me forever to get my hands on the complete DVD set, but it was well worth the wait. The story and artwork captivated me completely. Jul 11, 2009
I recently finished watching the series. Unfortunately, I never was able to see episode 24, so this made episode 25 harder to understand. I was, however, intrigued by the idea of the Contracters. It made me wonder how that would affect people if it happened in real life. All in all, I really enjoyed watching it and will watch it again in a heartbeat.

Personally, I liked the anime better, because it seemed like they didn't give each character enough "screentime" in the manga. Like, most of Diva's chevalier got maybe a few mentions in one or two volumes. But still, it was a good story, and I did enjoy it.

I enjoyed the story overall, though it got a bit confusing, what with going back and forth like that. I really thought that Makoto and Chiaki looked a lot like Saya and Kai from Blood +. The ending nearly made me cry, it was so sad!!

I really like this anime, not only because it's visually stunning and extremely vivid, but also it seems to follow the lines of the actual story, The Count of Monte Cristo. I can only hope that the ending won't let me down, seeing as I haven't watched it yet. I definitely think that the Count is my favorite character.

...I really didn't like the fact that they ended the series before the manga was even over. The filler episodes were okay, since I actually enjoyed a few of them, but other than that, I wasn't terribly impressed. The voice acting was commendable, though, each person they chose fit their character perfectly.
But honestly, I like the manga better. |
