At first, I was very hesitant to start watching this anime due to its dark, gory elements and unique older art style. At its core, the anime follows the story of a powerful female knight/hunters known as Claymores in search of revenge and destruction of the Yoma, man-eating monsters that take on the form of their victims. The anime is packed with unique high-intensity battles between the Claymores and Yoma, these battles are then used to develop the identities of the majority female cast. Each and every Claymore is shown to have a certain type of backstory that fuels their purpose in life and reason ... for hunting Yoma even though they face hate and prejudice from the villages they help. The development of the MC was very enjoyable to watch, she went from a weak underpowered Claymore with only a desire to exact revenge to a powerful being that had other people and desires she needed to protect. At the very end, I was left with a burning hunger for a second season which unfortunately never got produced.
