To my utmost disappointment after a fantastic 2nd season, so far after the 4th episode, I just can't recommend it for now. Unlike other anime this season, I had to kinda force myself to watch it, it's utterly boring.

It started kinda weird, a few quick battles that weren't really engaging and you could miss them if you blinked in the wrong moment, new character that we know nothing about but she's suddenly rendered as a Raphtalia's nee-san, then it got into the most random encounter with those siblings, went through the most "wut?" battle in the series that if you just sneezed you'd miss ... it and loose nothing, and at the moment we're at the point where the "big mentally disabled trio" makes its comeback which the lack of made the 2nd season so much better than the 1st. And what was that thing about Filo becoming an idol out of nowhere?

I have to say that the animation and art got a substantial upgrade which pleases the eyes, all of the main characters look now more lively and "deep" for the lack of better word. It really looks like a 2023 anime. The music is okay, nothing special, the 1st season had better ones.

So to summarise - for now nothing makes sense, fights are quick and boring, we are being thrown at random events without explaining anything and the worst characters are making a comeback. It really feels like a "random bullshit go!" season for now. I miss the excitement from the 1st and 2nd seasons :(

I warn you, it's gonna be "hard" to read this manga.

I've just recently found out I'm into armpits and accidentally found this title and I can say that was the best thing that happened to me today. I'm actually pretty satisfied with the quality of the art, usually such niche things aren't being done with the intent of looking good but only going for that one specific aspect that gathers the followers. This one is actually drawn properly, the characters look good and well designed and it's a pleasure to the eye. For sure, there's no real story or plot but it would be a ... little bit weird to expect an actual story in such manga as its goal is to only provide only one thing - armpits. Even tho it kinda, with a big grain of salt, makes sense. I mean it has at least a bit of continuity and some basic idea. For sure it's not a manga for those who are not interested specifically in armpits but it's also not a completely 100% dumb one.

Also yeah it's a little bit off-puting that it revolves around younger boys but huh, at least they're in "that" age I guess?

As someone who hasn't read the LN I really liked season 2 more than 1. Here are some of the reasons:

Season 1 pros:
- Raphtalia getting proper treating from someone that was accused of doing bad things to the girls
- Spreading his good name by helping the poorest that didn't know about the accusations

Season 1 cons:
- your typical "mc was the worst so through the power of determination and friendship he became the best"
- other heroes being annoying and plain
- really boring reoccurring cursed shield usages to the point it started being annoying
- even tho the shield hero became the best through his hatred he ... still couldn't get the real work done which was killing the 1st princess and the king

If you want better "mc was the worst so he became the best" type of anime just watch arifureta, Hajime would just immediately kill the king and princess to the satisfaction of the viewer.

Season 2 pros:
- getting more interesting characters that later turn out to be from another world
- seeing that there actually are another worlds
- getting to know those heroes, who they are and why they came to the shield hero's world
- thanks to this the plot was much more interesting as it was mostly done with the cliche "oh he's the best in the end"
- thankfully we didn't see too much of those lame heroes

Season 2 cons:
- only 13 episodes with the last being just a "relief after the battle" type of stuff
- the battle with that mutant turtle was a bit too long and boring

That's not all but enough. Season 1 had a bit too mainstream plot which made the season 2 much more interesting.

I can think of only one reason this anime is so low rated. It's because people think about it just as I thought at the beginning - oh my lord what does it look like, the nostalgia tells me that this looks bad omg and it's just a reboot. But then I've read that it wasn't just a visual reboot, it was the actual anime adaptation and not only some childlish cartoon about 'friendship is magic'. It's great, it's actually awesome. Yeah sure the art is pretty mediocre and for 2021 anime it SHOULD be better but you can get used to it. Great story. ... It's awesome that it's gonna get a second season. Can't wait to see it!
