Hello,
This is my first ever attempt to write a review, and perhaps this is far from a review, just a thing that I really like to address from the bottom of my heart (and please do bear in mind that English is not my native language, hence there may be some mistake either in grammar and/or diction)
And be not afraid, for this piece is spoiler-free.
Human life is all about connection and relation.
Many things in life come but at some point, many things also depart from this life either for good or not.
But sometimes, there's a problem that lingers, within the very complex human relationship.
...
As Osamu Dazai, the author of No Longer Human once wrote,
"I am convinced that human life is filled with many pure, happy, serene examples of insincerity, truly splendid of their kind-of people deceiving one another without (strangely enough) any wounds being inflicted, of people who seem unaware even that they are deceiving one another."
From that passage, and from a personal experience,
It is hard for us human beings to be true, say true, and most importantly feel true to others such as, for example, our family, friends, colleague, or even stranger.
However, perhaps the hardest thing to do... Is to be true to oneself.
Recently, Violet Evergarden The Movie hits our local movie theatre, and without some work to do, I, along with a couple of friends decided to watch it together. Bear in mind that we start watching with a happy-go-lucky face and ended up with red eyes, a runny nose, and being miserable.
As many movies (anime or not) told their story and statement within the duration of 2 hours (less or more), Violet's main and sub-plot teach me way too many things in relation to human relationships (although as generic and common as the plot itself gets)
One may learn, that to overcome the hardship and trials of this life and ever-enduring relationship, we perhaps just need to write our feelings down maybe into a letter or something else and send it while we can for we may not know when will everything becomes 'too late'
One may also learn that life is way too vibrant.
At some point,
some people may love you but some may hate you,
some may agree with your opinion and some may disagree,
some may find you are funny, but some may find you cringy,
some may care about you, but some may want you to die,
and some may live until the end of times, and some may pass away in a time no one can tell.
And as absurd as my interpretation of the meaning of this movie, hopefully though, it reflects on Violet's journey throughout the series for finding the meaning and existence of the word "love" she cherished so much. And yes, it's an emotional journey that surely will evoke every sort of emotion humans possess.
Both for Violet, the characters revolve around her, and most definitely the viewers.
But truly a perfect or if not, a beautiful finale for Violet's story.
Thank you Kyoto Animation and every staff that took part and effort into making this art.
Ultimately,
Violet Evergarden The Movie makes me feel like I am not just watching a movie but rather experiencing something grand, beautiful, and emotional.
And lastly, if I ever had a chance to wipe away my memory just to experience this art again, I would gladly do it.
As the closure for this long piece,
Please be true to yourself and enjoy even the simplest and tiniest thing in this life for time is way too short.
Therefore,
Thank you for reading up until this point and please do watch it if the opportunity ever arises, and once again, please pardon me if there's a linguistic mistake or even a slight weird take on my interpretation about this movie.
And hope you have a great day ahead.
P.S. THERE'S A SHORT EPILOGUE AFTER THE CREDIT SO STAY PUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE.
