"Should I watch Guilty Crown?" ~you
To put it simply: If you're looking for something with a gripping and intricate plot that puts you on the edge of your seat and keeps you clicking 'next episode' all night long, this probably isn't the series you should watch right now.
The plot of GC, as well as a decent share of the characters' developement, are often convoluted. This series' success is not based on intriguing the audience by jumping through psychological hoolahoops, so I repeat, if that is the key feature you're looking for, I'm sorry but your princess is in a different castle.
DON'T LET THAT BE ALL
...
YOU TAKE FROM THIS REVIEW
I know you finished that paragraph and started inching your mouse towards the back button. Keep reading. You silly goose.
That being said, I apologize for starting this review so negatively. The plot really isn't that bad, I'd even say it's more than decent, given the following;
This series' plot is very clearly, and I can't stress this enough, an EXCUSE for your computer to throw top grade animation at your eyes, invading them with an excellently chosen and utilized color pallet, while assaulting your ears with music such that each individual scene could be scored a 10/10 out of context.
The beauty of this show makes up for what it lacks in regards to coherency.
A quick note on characters; The characters of this show are nothing to write extensively about, though that's not to say they're designed badly. The personality tropes designated to each character are handled quite well, and there are a few dialogues that do stand out as uniquely well done; all in all, characterization is not an issue for this series, beyond a few awkward spots in backstories.
So to summarize this quick how-dee-doo-dee:
1. If you don't mind that the plot won't knock your socks off
2. And you don't mind that some things might not make sense...
3. ... Because they're only there to allow the artist behind it all to express himself to his fullest
4. And finally, you like it when things are colorful and pretty and flashy and sound good and whatnot
Then yes. You should totes watch this show.
Your eyes and ears will enjoy it, and your mind won't hate it.
Hope I helped, toodles!

I'll try to make this short and to the point.
It's fairly obvious that the writers bit off more than they could chew. The story has a great basis, and arguably too much potential to squish it into 13 episodes.
Despite this, I am largely of the opinion that, while they usually lack a singular plot-driving focus, the first ten episodes are QUITE enjoyable. The 'problem solving crew', while made up of your average cliches, makes for a good laugh, with exemplary facial expressions, and Maya, and sometimes Bunmei, find ways to make each episode interesting enough.
After that however, it becomes glaringly obvious, in my opinion, that
...
the writers were scrambling to reincorporate the driving plot of the series, end of the world and all that, and they got more than a bit desperate/sloppy in tying off/together loose ends, jumping into new genres here and there.
As a final note; I have several problems with the final episode, mostly preferential and logic based, what with the involvement of time travel and affecting the future and all, but that aside, I found the particular way the series ended to be very original and interesting.
All in all, the series has many faults and, who knows, might leave you feeling a little disappointed like me, but I'd still recommend it as a series worth watching.

To put it simply, there are spome scenes/aspects/themes/what-have-you in this series that are super, SUPER cute, just flat out adorable, though that's my opinion. The number of times I squee'd to myself is the sole reason I'm writing this review.
So if you like (what-I-think-are) really cute things, and want to watch a series with an intriguing plot structure, well developed characters, and enjoyable animation, this is more than worth giving a chance.
