It might be because of the last chapter that wasn't adapted, I think this Manga did it much better than the Anime OVA's. If these 10 chapters were contained in the original Manga, then Mikasa and Annie might've not gotten so much hate from the pro-fapping animanga incel weeb consumers that constantly misunderstand AoT and its' characters.
This is genuinely amazing character building and a great dive in torwards the psychology of Annie and Mikasa, that further aknowledges and portrays Mikasa Ackerman's cold, yet sensitive soul, with Annie Leonhart's being sharp, but extremely sensitive. You come to this realization especially when you finish the ... whole series. You could kind of say these two are two very different, contrasting sides of the same coin. Both are teenage women that are also veterans, isolated souls, born in a cruel world, and they're not perfect. They're pursuing their duties, even personal goals while tripping on -and sometimes being trapped by- the impulsivities and the numbness caused by their internalized traumas from being forced into the horrifying events the cruel world they've been born in had set them up to. Fuck. I love AoT and its' characters so much, man. I don't usually write semi-essays like this but I just had to sort of "vent" out my love for this series in this small review.

Listen, I'm only 7 chapters into the Bleach Manga so far as of the end of March 2025, and this Saturday night I thought why not see how the original one-shot was like. Bad idea. Bleach Manga is alright so far, I think it's a fun Casual read, but good God, I was struggling to finish this one-shot, I disliked almost every page of it. Horrible dialogue and badly drawn. All of the characters, except Orihime's dad feel like they've been robbed of any human emotion. That second to last page was so freaking underwhelming. I haven't seen such horribly written, soulless dialogue ... in a long time. I don't recommend it unless you're a hardcore Bleach fan.
For newcomers, It's a horrible way to start reading Bleach. Just ignore this thing and start from the serialized Manga.

-started reading after season 2-
No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get into this series properly. I understand why people love it, but I can't help the fact that I rarely got invested. As I finished the (extremely underwhelming) last chapter, all I could think was "Seriously? That was it?". I'm not sure if I regret my time spent reading this, that's for future me to decide. The few times I was invested, there were sparkling moments of brilliance. However, I hated the overly analytical obsession the writer had with this power system(I even yelled "okay shut the fuck up already and ... move on" in my mind at numerous points. I seriously considered dropping the series after Hakari's power system was revealed, with the most mind-numbing explanations possible only to end with Gege telling us to ignore all that and imagine a lotto machine that endlessly restarts until the jackpot. What the fuck.). I cared for very few characters. I hated the infuriating inner monologues and the eye-rolling dialogue. I disliked the weak attempts at comedy. I hated how most of the characters I was supposed to care about had way too much emphasis on their "cool factors". I hate how by the end of it all, everything surrounding the characters, word-building, seems "fine". Like it feels as if every character just went through a bad dream starting around the shibuya arc and then everything is back to normal. ...Do I even need to talk about how exhaustingly dogshit the pacing is? Okay, listen, even if I brush off the fact that this series never might of been for me, or never grabbed me(reminder that it took me a goddamn year to finish just season 1 LOL), there's absolutely no denying that there is SO much material here that is wasted potential. Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen, unfortunately to me, is a "painfully alright" anime and manga that peaked with the JJK 0 prequel and the Shibuya Arc.

A pretty cool prequel manga that takes place 50 years before the events of Attack On Titan's first episode/chapter. Goes VERY in-depth with how the ODM Gear was constructed and it shows that AoT could be entertaining even without too much focus on the titans. Unfortunately this prequel manga has an extremely rushed and dissappointing ending.
One other thing worth mentioning is that this manga as a whole almost feels like it doesn't add anything more other than some cool ODM Gear and Survey Corps military details to the original story. Would recommend for hardcore AoT fans like me who crave for more AoT, especially ... that season 1 type of nostalgic atmosphere.
Just don't expect anything extraordinary, apart from the REALLY cool way it explores the constructions of the ODM Gear, and how soldiers were starting to get comfortable with it.

Yeah, no, I'm dropping this. This is the first anime I've dropped in a very long time. And that is saying a LOT since I rarely ever drop animes. It went from a decent(really fun, even) anime to a dull, boring, tedious, and crappy experience pretty quickly somewhere around the second half and, just like the main character, I felt like I was wasting my time watching this.

I understand Sato being miserable is being done on purpose but at one point the show does it so much to the point where the sudden apparition of a cringe-worthy, pathetic, annoying character assassination of Sato in ... THAT island episode is absolutely mind-boggling. What could've been the best episode in the show is absolutely ruined by the joke of a character that Sato turns into when the episode is close to the end. It reminded me of my hatred for how Evangelion's Shinji is written as a way to lie to the audience about how the Main Character's struggles are "so realistic", and strips away all the qualities, and at points even forgets a very important point about the character(his crush on Misaki) just because "THAT'S THE POINT BRO!" when it's far from that.
I seriously laughed outloud because I thought it was supposed to be comedic. In a way it was? It's confusing because this same exact scene (which is the last scene of the episode) ends with a very traumatized scream.
And the next episode, this mf threatens to ASSAULT the girl that's supposed to be his crush? (mind you, this guy is supposed to be one of the most socially awkward, anxious character ever written, he's not just depressed). At one point he does it AGAIN? He even notices how much she's feared by that, and Sato, while noticing it, also just ignores it? Sato from the first half of the show would throw up in embarassment if he saw this. I seriously doubt that he will feel remorse for the way he treats her after episode 18(which is where I dropped, because I can't be arsed to continue any further after this new character "Megumi" gets introduced in the dumbest, most inconvenient way possible). This went too unnoticed.

An utter mess. After that not only do I feel absolutely nothing from the show, but it continues to only get worse with Sato's MMORPG bullcrap. The dialogue is mediocre at best, the decent pacing falls apart in the second half, the characters start to become uninteresting. Pieces of art that tackle the subjects of mental health in very inconvenient, and flawed ways really piss me off. The soundtrack and atmosphere were really good, and there were a lot of obvious sparks of something that was building up to be pretty damn good which continuously kept me coming back for more episodes, what a shame.
There are better animes that tackle the same mental ilnesses in this in much better ways. I also forgot to talk about the comedy which a few times really got me giggling but most of the other times... ugh.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

These 3 words are the only way I could describe this entire first episode. Cinematography, Animation, Art-style, Music, Voice Acting, Creativity, Horror, Writing and Story-telling is mind-blowing with this one.
Attack On Titan is without a doubt one of the greatest shows ever created, and this episode right here is without a doubt the best in the series. There is so much stuff to talk about regarding every character's decisions, philosophies and developments that it would take you whole essays to fully uncover the layers. The dreadful atmosphere and tone where everything feels like it's going to end very badly for the characters we ... love and the innocents, is made up for those last 10 staggeringly emotional minutes of the episode. It contrasts the first ever episode of Attack On Titan perfectly, where it feels like Humanity has no chance.
Hell, it still feels like it has very little chance for survival even after the end of this episode, but there is still hope. This type of stuff is the best thing about Attack On Titan: This piece of art constantly offers you intriguing details about carefully cratfed characters and a world with a history, both of whom invoke a rare feel of realism that you rarely get from animated movies or shows, and sometimes even live-action stuff. It grabs the audience by the throat, throws them in the literal definition of "Hopelessness" and still finds a way to unexpectedly comfort you in the end.
There has been no show that felt like it matured the same way this show has, along with its' audience.
There has been no show that forced the Audience out of their comfort zone the same way this show has.
Attack on Titan, itself, is an experience, and this episode furhter confirms that. Regardless if the ending will satisfy me or not, I will never forget about the positive impact it had on me and many other consumers of art. Shinzo wo Sasageyo!
(I know of the mixed reception the manga ending got, I have not read it, but let's see how the anime takes it, shall we? Let's hope for the best!)

Chainsaw Man is such an enjoyable show and it's definitely a must-watch, even if you don't love Anime.
It's hard to pinpoint why I love it so much, without spoilers, since its' vibe, and style is extremely similar to 2020's Jujutsu Kaisen, a show I unfortunately didn't enjoy and couldn't even be bothered to finish the last 3 episodes of.

Chainsaw Man is definitely a show you should watch when you are tired of trying to find shows that give you something new and refreshing, regardless if you love Anime or not.
What does Chainsaw Man do that is so refreshing, you might ask?
Well, let's look at ... something like Hunter X Hunter or hell, Demon Slayer, Naruto, One Piece etc... shonens in general. They all try to breakdown the boundaries of what makes a shonen enjoyable.
But Chainsaw Man, as it is also a shonen, doesn't breakdown these boundaries... it literally BREAKS them. It goes by its' own rules and it becomes a parody of typical Shonens we all love and have fond memories of. But it still manages to grab the audience's expectations by the throat, slap them, spit on them and make them enjoy it... *clears throat* kind of a kinky example, pardon me, but that is something that I think will surely prepare you for what the Chainsaw Man has to offer.

Watch it, right now. you'll love it to bits, just remember to not get your expectations too high, since that can ruin any anime, really.
