Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was an outstanding movie that brought justice to the Jujutsu Kaisen series as a whole. It had a couple flaws some noticeable and some you can't explain, one would just have to watch it to understand. Nonetheless, if you need to see any anime movie I urge you to watch this one and notice how blown away you are.
Story:
One thing that Gege Akutami (and MAPPA helped with the adaptation) made clear in this Cursed Child Arc is that IT IS SOLELY A PREQUEL. Prequels in different anime that release after the main story like to foreshadow the main character of the story.
...
I like to believe if the prequel has nothing to do with the main character, then they should leave them out entirely. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a PRIME example of how to do a prequel. The film stay on Yuta and his story alone. Prequel aspect aside, Cursed Child Arc was a great story but some aspects I felt it was lacking just a TINY bit. I won't go into detail (for spoiler reason) bu IT DOES NOT MAKE THE STORY BAD AT ALL. It just leaves you at a "okay WHAT!?" moment. During the movie, two times it occurred.
Overall Story Rate: 9 out of 10 (Great)
Art:
Animation for anime movies always reminds me "okay, THIS IS WHY IT TOOK SO LONG TO COME OUT!" and Jujutsu Kaisen is no exception. Jujutsu Kaisen animated by MAPPA Studios is kinda a given that it's gonna be good but the way this movie explodes past the barrier and GREATLY exceeds the expectation. The fight scenes have you on the edge of your seat and the animated choreography of the fights are almost like beautiful, full dance routines. It's an experience to watch and admire.
Overall Art Rate: 10 out of 10 (Outstanding)
Sound:
This has to be one of the few anime I will say that THE MUSIC CARRIES BIG TIME. I'm not saying that all the other aspect are bad to where the music brings it up, which is not the case at all, the other aspect are amazing in itself. It does quite the opposite. This is one of a rare case in which the music amplifies the other aspects of the movie. It's heavily rock/guitar based, so all the guitar fans out there, y'all eating good right now.
Overall Sound Rate: 10 out of 10 (Outstanding)
Character:
Although the movie is centered around Yuta and his development, the movie also let's other characters shine and have their moment (mostly Maki), but in this case Yuta is the only one in this movie who has ACTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. In this I'm not complaining because this is HIS movie, but the amount of screen time the others had just for them not to have character development kinda takes it out, only like a little character development was portrayed to the others. I do think it is a healthy amount but a little more could have been done IN MY OPINION.
Overall Character Rate: 8 out of 10 (Very Good)
Enjoyment:
Alright here's the kicker. Two MAJOR points with my enjoyment with this movie. One where the studio could have done anything and it still wouldn't have changed, and another one where, I'm gonna be completely honest, doesn't make any sense at all. Lets start with the first one. One thing I noticed about theater anime movies is that the full experience can be obtained by seeing them release date or a max of 3-4 days later. The audience plays a big role in the theater, I feel as if I would have enjoyed it if the movie screening was sold-out, everyone was getting excited whilst the movie is playing, and you can feel the enjoyment in the air or just the tension in it like a knife. This was not the case for me. I saw the an entire week later which left the screening have less people, I was probably sitting with like 8 people, 10 max. It's just not the same experience with pack movie theaters where everyone shares similar interest and everyone is screaming at major fight scenes. The second point is that the entire time, I felt as if I wasn't watching a movie. I was just watching a VERY LONG episode. It's something I can't explain, you would just have to watch it to understand. This factor is also very hard to change, in which I have no idea how to combat that issue so it kinda is what it is.
Overall Enjoyment Rate: 6 out of 10 (Fair)
Overall:
I think the movie set an example of how good MAPPA can do and what Jujutsu Kaisen could be in the future, and I hope to see more examples like this. I recommend watching this weather it be at home or in theaters, either way this is a must and you won't regret it one bit.

Before going ahead in this review, I just wanted to point out that I started watching this anime as a kid, stopped watching it, and started again about a month from today. After watching all 75 episodes (plus the 76th bonus episode), I can proudly say that this anime was an absolute satisfactory joyride of an anime series. Although it is a classic, having been produced in 2000 through 2002, it is a phenomenal anime that stands firm and proud in the modern age.
Story:
The story receives and OUTSTANDING 10 out of 10. From the start of the story to the heart-pounding end, this story absolutely
...
amazes me. In some of the matches, I would think to myself, "The main Protagonist is about to be DROWNED in plot armor, so he is obviously is going to overcome this." But every boxing match always throws a rude awakening and has the watcher second-guessing the "Plot Armor" statement.
Overall Story Rate: 10 out of 10 (Outstanding)
Art:
The art in this anime is fairly amazing but IN RARE CASES it can be a little hard to work with. Once you get past that fact, the art is REALLY enjoyable, from the bloody fists to cracked ribs to even straight forward "road work" scenes, you can tell much work was put into each and every scene, although most cases its really generic because it is made in the 2000s, it can hold up the majority of the anime.
Overall Art Rate: 8 out of 10 (Very Good)
Sound:
The sound in "Hajime no Ippo" is good. Getting deep into this anime, you can tell that the sound developers focused solely and exclusively on the fight scenes in the anime and anything outside of that normally gets the scraps. However, I will say the fight scenes sound SUPERLATIVE. You can hear the power behind each jab, body blow, and uppercut. You can hear how each dodged punch slices the air in half and shakes the arena. And KOs, you can hear when Ippo's opponent is out cold.
Overall Sound Rate: 7 out of 10 (Good)
Character:
(When I am stating side character, I am referring to the main protagonist opponents.) The same treatment I gave the story element, I give the same to the character and the character development of the anime. The Madhouse studios did a PHENOMENAL job introducing the main character, Ippo, as well as all the side characters. Normally side characters do not get much treatment in your standard anime, but each of the side characters has so much background, so much emotion, so much power, you grow attached to each and every one of the characters Ippo comes into contact with. You see how each character has outlandishly different personalities, each having funny moments, intense moments, sad moments, the whole package.
Overall Character Rate: 10 out of 10 (Outstanding)
Enjoyment:
Watching this anime and major fights bring so much suspense to the table. And sometimes a little too much. The ONLY issue I encountered with this anime is that the fights are dragged on sometimes. That is mostly a preferred aspect, some other people love when the climax is quick and to the point and others think that long fights bring the best out of the anime. For me, its the first one. There were times where I thought the end of the fight should have ended in that episode but it ended in the next. Again, this is a preference aspect. Other than that, everything was amazing to watch and there wasn't a time watching "Hajime no Ippo" where it seems more of a chore than a hobby.
Overall Enjoyment Rate: 9 out of 10 (Great)
Overall:
In conclusion, this anime is EXTRAORDINARY AND AMAZING, to think hard about the score, I give it an outstanding 9 out of 10. I will definitely tune into the seasons after this! If you are into sports anime but also like the action aspect of things, This is definitely something you should pick up, although its a little long with 75 episodes, I can say that it is worth the hours watching!
