**Disclaimer: This review contains spoilers and may not match your opinion, please dont be rude :3 I also want to add, that this is my first time writing such a review, so it may sound not that pretty**
First of all: The creators did the same mistakes as with the classic SAO, but we will get there.
Story, Character:
Lets talk about the story: Well, there is no story. The anime basically only takes place in the game (besides those scenes which take place in the real world but dont really matter). All this anime is about, are those two tournaments, thats it. The fact that the main
...
character was very tall and didn't like it was just a detail and didn't really matter in the end. I was looking forward to an arc after the tournaments which concentrates on Pitohui. The show build up this mysterious thing she had, but it wasn't even that mysterious, that you would think ''Oh, she definetly has some secrets''. The show tried its best, but i actually felt like ''Oh, she likes guns, uses games to escape the reality and she seems to like it''-How extraordinary. We get to her later on as well. But i just wanted to point out, that the main character is a little girl dressed in pink clothes. GGO is a game in which you have to hide, be quit and play tactically. There is a reason why someone invented camo-clothes. She screams around wears those clothes you would notice in only a fraction of a second and that in front of enemies. Of course no one seems to care and she just lives on. lol. Now let's go on to this typical SAO mistake: The main character is just op. The girlr is pretty stupid, does not play tactically, but wins in the end. For example: There are elite soldiers who are not only pros at the game but also pros in real life. They kill every team they witness. But if there is this pink fucking bunny, they are like ''Oh okay. Dying go brrrrr''. And then a whole team of pros die to someone who is just fast. The main character is so op that she will always win, no matter what. Normal mistakes cant happen to her. If enemies hit, they dont hit critically, so she just carries on. Her teammate is just chilling even though he is way better than the actual mc. The plottwist was kind of confusing and could have been cool, but just didn't matter in the end anymore. And then she wins the first tournament, killing a lot of squads by herself, just because she is fast. In the second tournament, the pink bunny girl plays along with an other character. She is even worse than the mc and only shoots grenades. Besides the fact, that the squad is overpowered again, it bothers me that Pito doesn't die during that tournament. This bothers me about SAO productions in general: Side characters no one cares about immediately die when they get hit critically, but important characters...oh no. If they get hit critically their hp shrink so slowly and they dont even die. Every other side character dies 1 second after they get hit in the head for example and they hp shrink fast - Well, this makes sense, right? But if Pito gets hit in the head with a high caliber weapon, her hp are slower than my grandmother and she doesn't even die after a whole minute (How?). Only because she is ''relevant'' for the ''story''. You can always be sure the ''good'' ones will win, no matter what. That was kind of disapointing. In the last episode of the anime, the producers reveal that Pito is actually that musician the mc likes. Why Pito threatened her boyfriend isn't revealed. Everything just ends. Wow.
The side characters are either kind of intellegent or just dumb and nooby. The main characters aren't that interesting as well, besides Pito, even though this turned out to be a fail.
Art:
The animation is well made and flawless. I'm not experienced in drawing and animating, thats just what i thought. Its a decent art style. Not bad, rather pretty but nothing that special actually.
Sound:
The soundtrack is pretty okay. It's nothing that sticks to your brain, because it's brilliant. As i said, it's okay. But to be fair: You can hear a similarity to the first two openings of the classic SAO series.
Overall:
It's a meh: Overall a 5/10, just because the concept is quite nice. It could have been way better and show GGO more detailed than just in SAO 2. The chance to make something cool was there, it was just waisted.
