You'd think that if a series has come this far, it'd be amazing, unique, unpredictable... good, if you may.
The truth is, having followed through with these series for years just made this whole season scalate to another level of disappointment. Season 3 being as good as it was, followed by two terrible seasons after, seems like peak comedy—the kind I cannot understand.
I'll give them credit on the opening and ending, as at least they kept the quality on those and didn't fail to deliver.
The story in itself, however? Predictable and appalling. It was so easy to know what was going to happen
...
or what was going to be said that it became torture to even finish this season. It was so bad yet predictable that my friend splurted out, "This is so dumb; the only thing we're missing are aliens, lmao," while we were watching the ending in the last episode, and then they showed that Ootsutsuki-looking character (the 'aliens' from Naruto) to end the season. Of course, now we are completely done with this.
They really went ahead and used all the cliché tropes and didn't make any effort in making it interesting, from "I'm evil, but you'll find out I'm actually not now that I'm dying" to the "random character that appeared once will have an important role to the plot," or my personal favorite: Dazai is Dazai, so he won't die, "immortal character finds a copy of the person they loved in the past, and now they will devote themselves to that person the time travel bs, etc.
Compared to previous seasons, this doesn't have any substance and feels like poorly written fanfiction. It was really hopeless from the beginning, but one wanted to believe it couldn't get worse, but man, they actually were able to make it worse.
Honestly, I think you can only find this good if you are either are new to anime, don't read a lot and/or you enjoy those predictables plots.
