This is the worst Hero Aca movie. That's not much of a bold statement since there are only three, and if I claimed it was the worst movie of the year, it wouldn't do much causes this year has been pretty good for movies.
to preface this, I'm not a fan of the series anymore. I had dropped off after season 4 for a variety of reasons. The reason I actually came to this movie was I was doing one of my mates a solid and going with them.
I actually was hoping I might enjoy this film in the same way I enjoyed the second. I'd
...
even consider the second film better than the franchise it's a part of.
this will have some spoilers later on, but let's be honest, most people are coming for the action scenes and animation. So we'll cover that first.
Outside of fights, the animation is fine, it has it's moments. Meanwhile the fights are really fluid, which sounds great, and it should be, but it's so focused on fluidity that scenes start to lose impact. There are several moments where it can be difficult to tell what's going on, because everything is going so fast, and focused on individual actions rather than show the battles in a way that let's you follow them(sometimes it does, but it does have this issue a LOT of the time)
Another problem is the lack of tension. These fights have plenty of moments where you think "yep, they're dead,", which honestly feels like the studio is compensating for the fact that the fights have no buildup. Fights just happen with random antagonists that show up, get defeated and disappear.
This is an obvious issue. Most shonen movies, even the bad ones, have set antagonists, rivals for the characters, so in the final act when these rivals are fought and beaten, there's hype behind the battles, even when the rivalries are bad, at least there's something. There are no rivals, and then I just don't care.
This creates another problem as well, as spoilers, but the villains are supposed to be an anti-quirk cult, yet so many of their members have quirks. if there were only a few, then it would be fine, I can suspend my disbelief for 2 or 3, but not 10+ to the point where several handfuls are just faceless goons.
They could've given the villains advanced technology and just 2 or 3 quirk characters instead of so many quirk users. It would make sense for them to have technology since they've been preparing this plan for such a long time.
It's even worse when, and the film doesn't even hide this(though you might think it did), but the leader of this world wide, anti-quirk cult has a quirk! It's like if in Korra Book one, Amon was completely open about being a water bender. I thought blue guy had face paint, but no, he just has a quirk, and it shatters any sense of immersion.
To be fair, the plot doesn't have much immersion anyway. A cult this powerful should've been mentioned in the series beforehand. Both the other movies had excuses for why their plots were separate, placing themselves on islands, but this is a cult on par with the catholic church.
The villains plan also makes no sense. They want to more or less genocide quirk users to prevent the apocalypse, even if their bombs basically cause apocalyptic destruction, even if bombs wouldn't be effective in their goals, bombs are more often than not used for assassinations or intimidation, even if parents that have quirk could give birth to someone without a quirk and vice versa, and so many more issues that would require more spoilers.
Honestly, with their resources, they could build bunkers to wade out the apocalypse rather than pick a fight that really won't be as effective as they think. the morons.
Though I guess the villains are side note, since the film lacks a rising action. It just kinda meanders around until SUDDENLY, we're in the final act.
The film doesn't use it's time well. At one point there's a montage of the characters driving across a European country that's basically Greece. you can walk across most European countries in a day. you're not going to to be driving across one for a couple days.
Cut this segment
Also cut all the cutaways to characters that mean nothing, like the other hero teams, who feel so redundant. cutting to them for a few milliseconds would be fine, but seeing their reactions, making sure they get that lines and have things to do feels like a waste of time.
The first movie picked a select characters to use, and gave the others frames of time on screen. cameos basically. The second film made use of everyone in team battles, strategy, etc. This film wants to give these characters a purpose, but since they're off to the side, the time is wasted.
of course they'd have to have something to do, because the stakes are so high, it decreases the tension even more. it'd help if the characters had some focus that added more impact, but the only character who gets any focus is Rody, the film exclusive character, and even his development feels undercut due to all the wasted time.
He is a good character, I'd say better than most of the wastes of space Horikoshi writes. He makes decisions based on his character, ones that don't necessarily seem like the good guy thing(he doesn't do it that much tho). He's not just a generic good guy, and he has plenty of time to express his personality. As opposed to a lot of Hero Aca characters whose decisions are all....basically the same with a different skin/design/single personality trait.
At the end of the day, this film was made for profit. I don't think anyone really cared outside of the animators. The film was marketed as being about Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki, but realistically, Bakugo and Todoroki are just there for the poster. it's not like the second film where Bakugo actually felt important, as did his relationship with Deku.
The film almost has something at one point, a villain who sees quirk as evil, and a hero(Deku), who sees them as something for good. they don't have a lot of time to develop this conflict, and they ruin it by...implicating Deku as ablest.
The villain's quirk has made it difficult for him to interact with other people. He can't touch them, in short. Then we have Deku, who, while quirkless at one point, could still live a completely normal life. Most people in Hero Aca do that outside of heroes and villains. This isn't counting the fact that Deku has had everything handed to him by All Might, more or less
So when Deku tells the villain that he "wasn't trying hard enough,". it just comes off as a privileged rich kid telling a guy in a wheel chair the same thing. This wasn't the intention, I think the writers just weren't thinking, but it's a big issue, and makes me hate Deku in a way, even if the real thing I hate is this film.
This film is awful, it's boring, it's stupid, and it's even good for a few laughs at points(tho not enough to make it so bad it's good). Save your money, or go to a different one
Thank you for reading

At one point, certain Japanese Medical school began deliberately lowering entrance exam scores for female applicants. This was because they seemed to be under the impression, that these young women wouldn't be doctors for very long, as they get married and leave their jobs.....*vomits at the words she just wrote*
Author Ameko Kaeruda discovered this, and was rather enraged, so she went on to write the Web Novel turned Light Novel, Sexiled, though I think a better name would be Lilliam, as it fits the story pretty well, and a lot of people will in fact, be confused by the title: Sexiled.
Tanya is a hot-headed young
...
mage who tried her hardest to become an adventure, teaming up with her scummy child-hood friend, Ryan, and starting a party together, until of course Ryan kicks her out of the party because he thinks that he's "doing her a favor," because most female adventurers are looking to settle down as far as his dumb-A** can tell.
Tanya gets angry and we learn that the author has read Konosuba when Tanya goes into the middle of nowhere and spams her favorite spell, EXPLOSION!
[Megumin has entered the chat]
Anyway, Tanya accidentally releases the lackadaisical and egotistical, mythical sorcerous, Laplace. I believe it's pronounced more like Le place, as Laplace also tends to use a lot of French, like oui oui. The two end up teaming up to help Tanya get revenge, to help Laplace get into adventuring, and to make out for plot reasons, this is in fact, labeled as a Shoujo ai/yuri.
This is a really fun series, yes it has the whole revenge thing, but it thankfully doesn't take it to the sadistic extremes or edge that Shield Hero or Redo of Healer were up to. Tanya just wants to embarrass Ryan, and without spoiling anything, Ryan's own actions are what lead to a lot of the really bad things that happen to him. it comes off as though he's bitten more than he can chew.
This series has more than just a revenge aspect though, our heroes help each out and work to dismantle the sexist problems with their society, such as unfair systems or something small like the dress code, which is a nice lambasting of the tropes of female adventurers not wearing a lot of clothes.
There's also a certain kindness to the series, our characters help people, feeling sympathy for people, even if those people are monsters, or former enemies. It helps balance out the rage, revenge, and anti-sexism. it also helps that the characters never feel like their on a soapbox, or being preachy. Tanya doesn't talk down to Sexists, she yells at them or punches them in the face. She's a fairly simpleminded, hot tempered type as I mentioned previously.
This series can also be a lot of fun, when reading it, the characters did have their serious moments, but the series can often be rather comedic, at least in the first volume.
It's also worth noting, since people will wonder this, the characters are overpowered, but within reason, as this story more or less takes place after they've been through most of their training, and even then, Tanya does get a bit of practice in during the first volume.
And as one would guess, this is DEFINITELY a girl power story, which I personally rather enjoy. I've been enjoying the influx of good female rep. in fantasy isekai-type series like Kuma, Bofuri, Villainess, Spider, and now Sexiled. I also liked that the characters didn't feel like bland pieces of raccoon shaped wood, yes, that was a jab at Raphtalia from Shield Hero.
The only issue I have is that the LN will often skip over bits that aren't THAT important, but I think could be if things were a bit more fleshed out, though I guess that would be something for more of an anime, which I hope this series gets, though I doubt it'll meet the expectations of the visuals in my head.
That also reminds me, the artwork in this LN is amazing. Characters look expressive, detailed, cool, and cute at the same time. Kazutomo Miya did a FANTASTIC job with this series.
Another issue I have isn't much of an issue, but I....don't even know if this will ever get an anime, because at the time of this review, this is one of those series that's basically forgotten on MAL, so it could actually be over for all I know, doesn't help that the next volume looks very final, and that a third volume isn't listed. MAL has it listed as ongoing, but I really trust them, since this one has faded into the background.
In conclusion, if you think you might enjoy girl power lesbians getting revenge and helping people out of the goodness of their hearts, read it, the series has been translated into English physically and digitally. The volumes aren't that long, and it's not expensive on Amazon, so go out and get it. If you don't think you'll enjoy it, give the series a shot anyway, you might think it sounds bad, but it might pleasantly surprise you.
This has been N.G.Chloe, signing off

Taiso Samurai is easily a 9.4, so I rounded up, Gozaru.
This series was definitely an underrated Gem this season. It has a fun, and distinct cast of characters, amazing music, a good story, and is able to do so much in only 11 episodes.
The main story is simple and straight forward, as most sports series are. What differentiates this series from other sports anime is that rather than being about a young, teenage athlete that's new to the sport, it's about a veteran of the sport trying to make a comeback. That's still not new, but in the realm of anime, we don't get that
...
very often.
I would even recommend this to people who aren't into sports anime, because the sport isn't really where this series excels. Yes, Gymnastics is given a lot of attention, this series is also very much a character drama, putting focus on Jotaro's daughter Rei, or RACHEL, as well as the Ninja, Leo, Gozaru. RACHEL and Leo actually sometimes feel like they get more attention than Jotaru. RACHEL expecially, which fine with because she's a Queen.
The series have plenty of other side characters who have their own subplots that really don't get much attention, but get just enough to leave an impact. It makes the series more flavorful, and makes such a small story feel larger, as we have other gymnasts, characters connected to Jotaro's family, or even Leo's plot. Some characters don't even have names, but they leave a distinct impression.
I've gushed about the cast long enough, of course there's the production to mention. The artstyle is great. I like the character designs, and the coloring. Characters look simple, but distinct, and I particularly love the linework, as it makes the characters feel a little grounded, but also expressive.
The animation itself isn't fantastic. It's mostly the bare minimum, they even made most of the gymnastics with CGI, and used rotoscope for the ballet. This is all serviceable, and never really detracted from the series for me. Yes, it would be great if they could animate each move in glorious 2D, which would allow for more subtle details, but this series doesn't come off as being high priority, and they sadly can't animate everything in 2D.
My favorite part of the series' production is definitely the music. The background music is great at giving a sense of excitement during the gymnastics scenes. It helps adds a sense of fun during the scenes where it's needed. The background music is just all around, really effective, though there were a few misplaced spots.
This isn't even going into the OP, and ED, which are some of the best in Fall 2020. The OP is catchy, fun, and lives in my head along with the ED. The ED, Yume Ja Nai by Hatena, is the best ED this season, it's catchy as heck, and the visuals that go along with it are pretty nice as well. If you haven't seen the OP or ED, ya gotta look em up, Gozaru.
It was unexpected, but I really, really liked this series, Gozaru.
I consider a series that can do so much with so little to be nothing short of a masterpiece,
If you have the time, recommend giving it a watch in Sub. I tried the dub, and I barely watched it before leaving, maybe it'll be better in the uncut version, but I don't like who they got cast as coach.
Many thanks for reading, Gozaru!

"Rwby often threatens to be good, people saw what it promised and believe it would deliver. The pieces are still there and sometimes just enough for people to keep watching, it looks like their going to fall into place, but they never have, and it's starting to become clear, that they probably never will,"
- Harris Bomberguy, RWBY is Disappointing and Here's why
Minor spoilers
My Hero Academia.....is a serviceable enough series. When it started, I found myself enjoying it a lot, and that kept up for the first three and a half seasons. Then I ended up dropping off the series for a bit, because I was
...
waiting for the dub, and then I just never got back to it until recently.
And I have to say, the series starts to drag on. it's still good, but honestly feels more like a popcorn series that's quick and easy, even if the microwave takes forever to actually cook said popcorn. A lot of the issues fall on it's world, characters, and pacing, stay tuned.
[World]
To start, the world of Hero Aca is pretty much our world, except there are super heroes. The world can often be involved in the plot and be connect to various character's actions, and the addition of Super heroes can often be shown in how it's affected the world. Which is good, however, because it takes place in our world, it lacks a level of uniqueness or distinction.
Even series with incredibly basic ideas for their worlds like AoT, BC, Naruto, or Gintama, the settings are unique enough to make them feel memorable or distinct in their presentation. In Hero Aca, a lot of the story is based around small scale events, or school events. The world ends up being a background element despite how important it is, because we're rarely in it. And the world itself is mostly generic cities or locations.
Despite how important the world is, there's nothing unique about it outside of super heroes, and in the end it feels like set dressing.
[Characters]
Now as for the characters, something kind of happened, the school festival happened. The School Festival can be described as a great idea done very poorly. Here's a simple idea, if your characters more mundane events enjoyable, you've won. A lot of series have been able to do this, Gintama, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, etc.
The ultimate key is to have fun. Most of Gintama's story is mundane events, but it's fun because the characters are fun, or they do something fun that makes the scenarios entertaining.
Black Clover relies on tropes to have fun with it's characters, and uses tropes to make them all distinct, so that even in filler the characters will be entertaining despite doing nothing
AoT, despite having more grounded characters, has had a few scenes to have fun, particularly, a minor scene where the character of Historia and the rest of the main cast go together, to see Historia punch Levi, and it's amazing, and incredibly endearing.
This leads us to Hero Aca's character issues, the festival arc is boring, not because the events are boring, but because the main cast makes it fun. the characters that were the most fun were class 1-B, and Bakugo.
Everyone else is so constrained, so lacking in expression or distinction that when they urge earphone jack to help with the music, she says no, but after a bit of pushing, hse's on board and fully committed, almost as if she hadn't been against it in the first place. She's given a quick moment, and then her character remains static until she's given a backstory.
Of course there are lot more characters to focus on this arc, but so many of the characters are given this degree of focus, they have a character moment, and then they remain static, if that. It's not that their one dimensional, it's that there isn't any fun or distinction, they can barely express their character quirks, and there isn't enough time to focus on them.
It's also true that there's a lot of focus Deku, who I know is supposed to be bland, but that doesn't feel like a very good excuse. So is Kirito, but he Kirito is also supposed to be cool, no matter what you think of him as a character, the fact that he's bland in anime form is because he's supposed to be the coolest guy around, unlike Deku, whose going to be cool at some point, but in Deku's case, I don't think it'll be worth the built up. Someone like Subaru, isn't supposed to be cool, but even in season 1 of Re;zero he had his moments.
Even the interpersonal relationships among characters tend to fail, as they just kind of support each other or are friends and leave it at that. Their friendships aren't built up, they don't have a lot of moments that scream "these people are friends", and in most cases, with a few exceptions, their experiences together don't feel like it makes them better friends. there's no punching Levi, no Gon and Killua, no Black Bulls vs Veto the Despair, no Odd Jobs/Shinsengumi shenagins, the characters don't even feel like friends, they feel like aquaintences, in 1A at least.
As a last example for the characters, Uraraka had a character in season 2, they built her up, gave her motivations, a moment, and fight. This was great, but then at some point, she just became, the girl whose in love with Deku, who worries about Deku, her whole character has suddenly started to revolve around Deku rather than being her own character, and I hate it.
[pacing]
A lot these issues stem from the series' pacing. It's fast, but it's slow. Each arc is written quickly, with little time wasted, so each of the character is only given a moment or an episode to shine before most of them are shifted to the background, but it's worse than that. The despite how quickly paced it's written, it's overarching plot is taking forever to build itself up. To the point where nothing really happens out of a few standout moments, and outside of the few standout moments, there's a lot of sitting/standing in rooms, talking.
So the characters have time to be built up, but the writing structure leads there to being little time to breath. i could say the characters have fast paced writing, with a mid-paced story, but I just don't think that works, because there's a lot of potential for them to be super interesting that the series shows them for a second before it's back to the background.
Overall
At the end of the day, Hero Aca is the definition of mid. It's pacing is mid, it's characters are mid, it's world is mid, and at the end of the day, that just leaves to everything showing potential, but not following through with it.
It would work very well as a fast-paced series like Black Clover or Demonslayer, who use simple characters and stories to keep the pace up while building on themselves in mostly satisfying ways.
It could work as a slow paced series like One Piece or Gintama, which spend years building up the characters and/or world, and have massive payoff in the end with the feeling that you and the characters have been on a massive journey together.
But it's not going to do that, it's going to be collection of great moments surrounded by mostly meh or okay. It'll build to an epic climax, then end, probably get spin-offs and what whatnot that will keep the series alive until it's replaced or forgotten by something else.
I'm not sure if I got my point across, so if you have any questions, message me or ask me on my MAL page.
Thanks for reading

I find myself mesmerized by CG anime. I know that's not a common sentiment, but I seriously enjoy it. The models have a certain look , style, and level of detail that often makes them visually appealing.
That is Dragon's Dogma's best strength in essence, it's animation quality is some of the best in terms of CG anime, though you can probably find a similar quality from studio Sublimations other series, like the upcoming Shikizakura, which is looking pretty nice.
Seriously any other decent to great looking CGI series, because Dragon's Dogma is lacking in strengths, and it's only great strength is the CGI. The series has
...
good music, but the sound effects are just kind of okay. There's an overuse of the impact sound effect that Fate series tend to use. it's find, but sometimes it feels overused.
I like the two main leads, Hannah and Ethan. They have clear arcs that are done pretty well, I feel like it could've been done better, but it works well enough. The only thing as that the two leads are a bit too straight faced. There really isn't much of a dynamic, and there isn't much time to set it up.
okay, this leads me to the structure of the series. naturally, it's an episodic series, every episode has an individual plot that ends in each episode. This can be done to great effect in series like Lupin the 3rd, or Little Witch Academia.
The problem with DG is that each episode wants to make a point, and while some episodes kind of do this, the problem ends up being that you see how the resolution was made, but it feels like a few beats are mission.
If some of these one offs were made into 2 parters, it might work out better, because as it stands the main pair don't have a dynamic and the plots are missing something to make it feel truly impactful.
Some episodes also don't work because they need a rewrite. Without spoiling, episode 3 was awful. It was honestly distasteful, and the story just doesn't work because the foundation was poorly built. Which can be said for most of the series, as it wants to make a point, but because those episodic stories tantamount to making said point, it falls flat.
Episode 3 is the one that kills it the most, along with 6, which only sort of wanted to make a point, but didn't because there wasn't much time. 5 felt rushed and 1 really didn't have much of point, which made sense, but in the end the series is now missing a point.
Overall, the series just isn't worth it in the end, I recommend that you skip it, and search everywhere else for better CG offerings

I've only read the first volume, it was hard to find this, because in America it's known as Not Your Idol, which is frankly a better title than Goodbye Miniskirts, and fits the story and characters a bit better.
I find this to be an interesting read, with some interesting commentary on harassment and other things. It has good art, and I like the characters.
There are some thriller(I think that's the right term) aspects as well, with some psychological. I can't really say much because it's the first volume, and I've still got a bit.
Just trust me when I say based off my first impressions, this
...
is a solid series so far, it could still screw up at this point, or get even better. I did definitely enjoy some of the social commentary aspects, though it seems those are going to the wayside for the main plot of the series.
not much to say, I recommend reading it, because it is fairly solid so far, but if you want to make sure, I would suggest looking through it at your local store or something like that

this review is Spoilers. I't honestly, more venting my issues with certain points of the series that aren't massive on their own, but put together, build up. I previously posted it as a forum called venting, and you can check that out if you have any thoughts, agreements, disagreements, so on. Please enjoy.
This is all venting, and if some of these issues are corrected in later seasons or something, well, good for them. I genuinely did enjoy the show when I started it, but as time has gone on, these little things have started to bother me. if you like the show, please leave, I'm
...
just here to vent, and don't necessarily want to bother anyone. I might pick this show up again depending on how the second and third season are received, but as of right now, I'm not sure at all because of some of these things, some of which were a bit of a stretch I admit.
my little issues:
1) the characters are really bare bones
2) I thought Filo taking the role of the future chicken god was rushed
3) a lot of the pacing in the later episodes is really bad
4) I think it was episode 4 when that emotional moment early on in the series happened, and I really didn't feel much at that point because for comparison, re;zero had a similar scene in episode 19, but that was episode 19, shield hero was episode 4.
5) the king wasn't given a good reason to dislike the shield, to be fair I stopped shortly after Naofumi boarded a boat to go on vacation or something, I just got disinterested at that point, so if the king was given a better reason to be biased against the Shield hero specifically, I don't know.
6) I hate that they introduced the cursed mode, because it makes Naofumi a bit too overpowered, and I feel like it took away the purpose of Raphtalia.
7) the point with Raphtalia was that she was supposed to be the sword to Naofumi's shield, but in the second half, she feels kind of like her role was greatly diminished.
8) I hate that the chicken god blamed Naofumi for what happened to him. She had a point, but also, seriously, sorry to bring up victim blaming, but that's what it feels like, and that's aggravating
9) for people who have played a similar game, the other Heroes are a bit too bad at it. I mean I understand the spear hero and even the sword hero to an extent, but the bow hero comes off as a smart enough guy, and I think he would at least have some kind of tactical knowledge rather than just spamming strong attacks.
10)Naofumi is too overpowered for his level, this is back to the cursed shield, but I know tactics win, but that's not what Naofumi is using, he's using a power up her got that makes him super strong, even though he should be a lot weaker than the other heroes.
11) Naofumi being told to make up with the other heroes felt like it was kind of dropped. They stopped the bad guy, he tried to make up with them, but then failed, so it's back to just not getting along with each other. Maybe their going for the slow burn, which that's fine, but for now, this sub plot, which the chicken god emphasized was pretty important, feels dropped.
12) the church twist came out of left field. They were shown to be shady, but the twist that they were the ones behind everything felt underdeveloped. It's not unbelievable, but with what little presence they had, it felt kind of out of nowhere. there weren't any real clues either other than that they were kind of suspicious.
13) the entire plot when they were on the run kind of dragged for me, in that it just wasn't enjoyable. Myne and the Spear hero were cartoon villains, and I can't find enjoyment of them when you try to make them more serious villains.
14) The spear hero being a pedophile, I know we're supposed to hate him, but really, REALLY, we're going there.
15) they made the other heroes too stupid or too horrible to feel like Naofumi could make up with them, and that really grinds my gears, because of what the chicken god said about how if the heroes aren't united, we're all gonna die.
16) I didn't feel anything with the plot about Raphtalia's village, in part because as mentioned before, the characters are kind of bare bones, I mean look at Isekai Quartet, they don't do much with the shield hero characters, because it's hard to do anything with the shield hero characters. They even find things to do with Tanya's soldiers, and most of the Re;zero cast, but Shield trio gets little to do, beyond Naofumi making one of his killer one remarks, and Filo being cute.
17) I feel like they don't go all the way with Naofumi's meanness, which is more of an issue pf adaptation from what I've heard, but I think they make him too nice, but also-
18) I think the story feels too self indulgent by making him mean. the whole, be mean to everyone because their not nice to you is kind of immature. I have no problems with Naofumi being mean, but he should at least be respectful to someone like the king. If you told a king to kneel before you, you would be killed, no doubt, but Naofumi does it because he can, but really he should be careful not to threaten a guy with that much power, it might not go well for him.
19) the execution scene was painful, just because it felt like the writer giving the audience the sweet revenge they want by having Myne beg while sexualizing her a little bit, it was kind of disgusting honestly, even if Naofumi spared her.
20) the part where Raphtalia let that one guy live was just not a cliche I'm fond of
21) returning the slave mark, which I know they modifed the reason for that choice from the light novel, but still I think it should've stayed gone.
22) last one, I could try to think of more, but I think I've gotten most of it. That episode where they just stood around talking. Like the pope just let them talk it, and I'm like, "ya know this was fine while watching, but now that I think about it, what the heck was that," I know they have to have some kind of meaningful conversion, but please find a way of doing it without forgetting the plot. To be fair, I might remember it wrong, it's been awhile.

this...was a thing. I like the idea of a 4K anime, but after this, that's gonna be a hard no. if they make any 4k anime that end up being good, that's nice, but while I thought the level of detail in the animation was quite impressive, I found movements to be rather stiff.
I personally prefer movement over detail if I had to choose, and I'm not sure I'd actually be into a movie or series animated like this unless it had a good story, because I think CGI is a better path than this, because CGI can move a lot more easily
...
and maintain a decent amount of detail that can't be found in 2D.
But yeah, the short is fine, a nice animation showcase, but with how long it took them(two years) to make this, I can't imagine 4K anime being new grounds for animation. Personally, just keep things fluid. This isn't really much of a review, because you can't really say much about this short since it's only an animation showcase

I apologize to the MAL guidelines for the argument I had about their 4 episode rule, because this is a series that doesn't really get going until episode 4. The first three episodes are set up, gathering the team and such.
I'm perfectly fine with that honestly, as I have enjoyed every episode of this series, mostly in spite of its flaws, but that's a later problem. This is a standard baseball story about a baseball team, but with girls. The teams focus is less on macho rage, and more on supporting each other. They also try to have fun while still trying to win
...
the game, which is important I think.
The characters aren't very deep, but this is just the beginning, some of them do have some hang ups, and have built relationships, though some could be expanded more upon, but sadly in the current anime climate you have to get to point as soon as possible. The characters due have their quirks and goals though, and that's nice.
I like that when this series wants to, it's actually pretty exciting, I loved episode 4 in spite of some of it's issues.I'm not going to spoil episode 4 beyond saying that it's the first practice game for the characters, and I think the game was really good, even if thee direction could've been better.
As for what's wrong with the series, the animation and direction are pretty bad. There are moments where it's like, that actually looked not bad, but then there are m moments with some of the worst CG models I've seen in a while, or moments where the ball looks like a jpeg, and that's just sad.
There are moments where I don't know what's going on, because this feels more written for someone who knows more about baseball terminology. I know the rules, I don't know all the little details.
The characters also look really similar, so it can occasionally get a little confusing in the heat of battle, but that's the downside of having so many characters, you can't make everyone look super unique, well you actually can, see Princess Nine, Taisho Baseball Girls, and Cinderella Nine for reference, but Princess Nine was original, Taisho Baseball girls was based off of a light novel, and Cinderella Nine is based off of a phone game last I checked.
Tamayomi was based off a manga, written and drawn by a relative newby and maybe a few assistants here and there. So of course the only major difference between most characters on the team is going to be their hair, and maybe their height, they weren't designed by a whole team like Princess Nine, allowed to have little details like Taisho, or given the freedom of designing for a game.
I'm forgiving of the terrible animation, because the studio at this point has mostly done short series with the exception of Frame Arms Girl, which was a collab, so I can forgive the lack in quality. It is a shame about the direction, as the director had worked on a few seasons of Major previously, so I'm gonna subtract a point for that.
Overall this is a fine series so far, really enjoyed what I've seen so far, and will keep watching. I hope you can keep watching as well.

"God I love this show, and God I love anime, amen," -me at around 12:30
I don't usually give series based off of incomplete material a 10, as one can't improve on perfection, and if it's incomplete it's not perfect yet, at least, that's what I usually say.
Keep your hands off Eizouken isn't the exception to the rule, but it's so close to perfect and such a masterpiece that I made an exception. I didn't know what it was about very clearly until I actually watched it, and I only watched it because of the glorious Masaaki Yuasa, the Van Gogh of anime, as I love
...
his work, even though Devil man Crybaby was a little hard to get through at points, Ride Your Wave, while amazing, wasn't quite the tearjerker for me, I couldn't get into Mind Game, and he has other works I haven't seen yet. Despite these little things, I've always loved Masaaki Yuasa's work and knew I would love this one likewise.
Story- Picture anime production, you got your director(s), your storyboard artist(s), writer(s), background artist(s), producer(s), animator(s), key animator(s), etc. etc., now take all of that and shrink it down into 3+ high school girls, and have them go through productions of various projects while dealing with the difficulties of business. That is the story, and it's bloody amazing.
Art- The character art is perfect, it's simplistic, it gets the characters across easily, and it's expressive. The background art in contrast the simplistic characters, has a bit more detail, especially in some of it's sequences of the creative process, where the show visualizes Asakusa's ideas and blends them with reality. A lot of detail was placed into the artwork, and the animation is able to appear like a film in someplaces, in part due to animation saving methods tha Science Saru is able to hide masterfully. Every scene, while not always the best animated, is a joy to behold.
Sound- Music is the most subjective thing out of MAL's review parts. In this case, Music is critical to the story and characters, as they need to work on sound design and getting help with music, in that respect this series is fantastic. As for the music made to enhance scenes outside of in universe music, I found that it created a sense of excitement and joy whenever it was used.
Character:
Kanamori- the producer, and straight man of the group. She uses her knowledge of business, and her no-nonsense attitude to get the production done. She's one of the most standout characters, as she has to negotiate with the student council, the school board and others. She also has the to keep Mizusaki and Asakusa in check, as they tend to go off topic or be stubborn about wanting to do the production perfectly, but of course, they have to cut corners and make changes to adapt to bad situations. Kanamori is my favorite character.
Asakusa- Asakusa is the director/background artist/storyboard artist/writer. She's the de facto protagonist, who from a young age was enthralled by anime, and wanted to make her own someday. She's got most of the creative story ideas, and her realities are often the ones visualized by the series. as character, she's socially awkward, having trouble with people, and when working with people she's comfortable with, she'll often say more quirky lines like "you bet your bottom" or something like that. She's a fun character and I love seeing her work through the creative process, as I can somewhat relate as an aspiring writer myself.
Mizusaki- Mizusaki is the animator, and the character who helps get the ball rolling on the Eizouken or Film club I believe. She's a rich girl/model who wants to work in anime, to the point where she will pay attention to little details no one cares about, like how water is thrown, and I respect that, as an artist in training myself. She can be a bit unreasonable though, as she wants everything to be animated well, which I can still respect, but I know they do have to cut corners somewhere. Mizusaki is a character I quite enjoy, but she's definitely not as perfect or quirky as the other two.
Pacing- The series pacing is fine, I only really care about pacing when it's too fast or slow. This series is fast, but not fast enough to the point where I'd be annoyed.
Enjoyment- when I started this series, I had initially been unsure of it. I enjoyed it, but I didn't think I was enjoying it enough, after all, I hadn't quite known what to expect and had to take everything in, and after taking everything in, I must say-
Overall- "God I love this show, and God I love anime, amen," me at around 12:30
