This is my first time leaving a review because the low ratings made me question if I should even watch this, however, I tried for myself because not everything is for everyone. And this anime is the perfect example. After reading a couple reviews, it was clear to me that the low ratings are due to a misunderstanding and that's quite unfortunate. First off, I'm not sure where ppl get off thinking this anime is some sort of commentary about the LGBTQIA community because it's definitely not. The anime starts off right away and gives you the premise. It is about a straight male who

happens to be a fudanshi aka a male lover of BL. BL is a genre predominately consumed by women for obvious reasons and usually it's non-straight women so it's no wonder they assume he must be gay and why has worries about ppl finding out. I am a fujoshi (and member of the LGBTQIA community) so all the jokes and references were right up my alley. The entire point of the anime was making jokes using stereotypes from BL and also about fudanshi/fujoshi. Even if you aren't familiar with the BL references, they made a point to quickly define them so outsiders could be in on them too. Although there were a few jokes that might've gone over y'alls heads though. I think they did an awesome job. The end of episode 9 really killed me though. I don't think I ever laughed so much watching an anime.
I don't get into ratings on art, sound etc. But I gave this anime an 8 overall and a 10 on enjoyment because I was cracking up every episode. If the episodes were longer and there was more of an actual overarching plot that was leading to some sort of conclusion, I would've rated it higher. But as it stands, it kinda just feels like one long episode or OVA. It ends and doesn't feel finished. I would've loved more episodes. Either way, I definitely recommend it especially if you're a fan of BL.
