Both about adventure and the routine of pathetic "bounty hunters". Some fan service, but it never falls into vulgarity. If you like over the top characters doing ridiculously awesome stuffs all accompanied with quality animation, try both of this shows. 👌

How to deal with the cycle of suffering that every living being has to undergo ? Revenge, love, fate, wrath, death, rejection, the gap between nobility and mob, betrayal, war, both manga adress these thematics. We note the presence of demons, malevolent spirits, monsters, and others. Many characters have a harsh time in a world where only strengh counts. EPIC.

There you have two EPIC stories about a journey of iniation. Those manga share very interesting themes such as suffering, death, the acquisition of maturity, vengeance, friendship, life's value, nature,... Both manga aren't exclusively focus on there main characters adventures. Buddha contains less action and more philosophical reflexions. Both authors impressed me with hardly predictable plot lines at frequent instants. Yoshihiro Togashi was without a doubt inspired by Buddhist beliefs when writing his manga, therefore I find my recommandation relevant.

The two share an interesting approach to science and consequences of Humanity's progress. Nature is linked to the development of the protagonists in both of these series. Both tell the journey of a young genius (Jean/Edward) and his fellows. While Fullmetal Alchemist is more axed about the truth and the human vices; the big deal in Fushigi no Umi no Nadia happens to be how to socially connect with others (get rid of mistrust), and depict the transition to adulthood, among others. If you are looking for a fun and epic show with loveable characters, mysteries and which will make you feel a palette of emotions, I highly recommand you to give a chance to Fushigi no Umi no Nadia.
