The first half of the story is Boy has childhood friend he does not remember come live with him. Boy remembers her, Boy falls in love with her. Both admit their love and start dating, and then the second half happens. The story that she had a close friend that she liked but did not love. That she chose to date him as a form of dying wish is interesting, but also makes the main female character extremely shallow. The fact that she acts afterwards like nothing happened, and that she wants to get back with the MC makes her character even worse. Beside this ... manga cannot think of another main heroine that is this shallow and as a result I ended up just hating the story.

The other major issue is that after the first part it is apparent the writer is riding high on the manga doing well and their previous work doing well. That they decided to just drag their feet as hard as they could. There are so many chapters where nothing happens or changes for the character, it is all filler. It gets so bad that the ending feels rushed since everything gets concluded in 10~ chapters obviously the higher ups said “knock it off and finish it or get canceled.”

I can recommend the writer’s previous work before this, but this is garbage.

I followed this series back when it was a webnove, and after reading it I knew it would be made in to an anime one day. this was LONG before SAO was anime or isekai was the norm.

When it finally was announced I was excited "finally it's getting what it deserves." and then I watched it and hated almost every other episode. Anytime the anime was a 1 to 1 it was good any time it wasn't it was padding and was a dumpster fire. Episode 4, 18, 19, 20 and 21 are great examples of this.

Episode 4 is based off of one ... page of a manga and 2 paragraphs of the web novel. 18 - 21 are based off of 4 action chapters aka nothing happens for 4 chapters and skimming gives the same results.

I don't understand why they did 25 episodes when the first arc which ends in the return of the queen would have fit nicely into a 16 episode season. As you can tell from them doing this the original writing gets drag.

Then there is the main character in the original writing after false accusation against him his personality does a massive shift. He cares little of people, their options, their wants, or their needs. in essence he looses all empathy becoming a more by the numbers or book personality. Everything has positives and negatives, and the actions he takes are for them to be in his favor. It just so happens that those actions are viewed as benevolent while he only views them as transactional. This creates a character that is brooding, dark humor, thick headed, but calculated and able to apply his knowledge well.

The lack of empathy is completely removed from the main protagonist after episode 4. As a result he just becomes a thick headed standard anime protagonist that happens to be perfect in every way. There is part that comes up later in the original writing where he regains his former personality at the beginning of the story. happy go lucky and naive. it's going to be amazing to watch and see nothing change in his personality.

The art is bland and it's obvious that there was no budget for it and the CG while interesting in some scenes was more jarring as the show went on ether do a lack of time or budget.

While the Japanses dub is okay, the English was terrible. Besides Jamieson Price, and Erica Mendez everyone else has done nothing in this industry, and it shows in the voice work. Erhard voice being the most Egregious, I was expecting them to ripe off Patrick Seitz's voice style as Andrew Mills in SAO what we got instead is so bad I can't describe it.

I can't recommend this anime as it is I hope it gets better treatment in the second season but I wouldn't expect it to. This anime got the Mc Donald's treatment and since it did well there is no reason for them to try harder next time.

This story starts out very strong in the first 30 chapters and then it drags it's feet through quicksand. The writer has decided that every character that is introduced that is not killed/destroyed is going to have their own story and be followed. This drags out the story to nowhere with no resolution on any aspect of the story. What makes it worse is the last battle in the story to be published takes up half the current produced content with 40+ chapters. If you thought Dragon Ball Z was bad at never ending battles this one takes that award away easily. It's obvious the ... writer is trying to draw out this story as long as possible to be payed as long as possible before he is dropped from the publication. Skip this.

Okay the issue I have with this story is the amount of continuity errors the story has. There are multiple points in the story where an issue is brought up and they explain that they have to hinder themselves by doing X thing to solve Y problem. Only for then a chapter or two latter or the next volume the logic to be undermined.

The best example I have which is the reason a lot of people think the main character is "cool" is the fact he uses rundown garbage gear. Latter it's shown that it's not run down just that he buys the worst ... gear possible, even though he can afford significantly better gear. Anyway the claim is he uses it because better gear would have a strong metal smell.

The only problem is he then in latter chapters of the volume covers himself in goblin blood so the metal smell is covered up. He also is shown in the next arc applying various oils to get the same result. This works so well that when he gets a complete new set of armor fresh from the forge he is immediately able to cover it up. So with that in mind why doesn't he get better armor then Iron. And yes it is iron because steel can take a greater beating then what his glass gear goes through.

There is also the insanity that he doesn't wear chain mail under his leather armor. Which is why he even gets poisoned at one point. What I'm trying to get at here is these ideas were done for "cool" but instead just look dumb since there is no reason for him to be acting this way.

Anyway while the story is terrible and the Main Character is worse random D&D fighter random roll ever. The rest of the party has actual good characters they are a bit tropey but I found the cleric to be a good self insert of the reader in understanding how the world works. And the other 3 to give insight into the politics of their various clans.

To be frank Skip this. if your looking for D&D style fantasy go read The Gamer, Konosuba or Log Horizon.
