The normal cliche of Shoujo manga, right? Boy falls in love with a girl, but the boy's childhood friend fell in love with him.
A cute little story of love and friendship, but with a most shocking end.
I recomend this to all manga lovers. Even those who don't usually read Shoujo.

Just one word : astounding. Junji Itois one amazing mangaka.
He manages to take any topic ever, from stinks to swirls, and makes them into a fantastic horror manga. Though, like Gyo, the storyline is somewhat hard to follow. The plot seems to love to twist and turn. Otherwise, it is a amazing manga. After reading this, you will never look at spirals, pregnant women, and snails the same way again. May 11, 2009

Ah, the story circling around stink.
After reading Uzumaki, I simply had to read another work of Junji Ito. Gyo was my first choice. The first thing I noticed was the art. When people think manga or anime, they think of the huge, shining eyes, cute little turned up noses; a up-graded cartoon. I enjoyed Ito's art, it was a nice change. Breathtaking, actually. The only thing I don't like is at first it's hard to keep up with what's going on in the story. At the beginning, it's just extremly confusing. Though, as the manga unfolds, it becomes a delightfully creepy manga. I would really recommend ... May 11, 2009

An amazing, beautiful manga.
People don't really take notice of those lone wolves in the world. They believe that they prefer to be alone, to be secluded from humanity. Though, 99% of the time that isn't the case. It's lonley, and Sumino is the perfect character to show the truth. Hinata's help to bring Sumino into the sunlight is extremly touching. For those who have felt such lonliness will be sure to shed some tears for this manga. Beautiful art work, beautiful story, just an all beautiful manga. |
