By no means does this show deserve the vitrial it's gotten online. As a story, it's a fun, lighthearted comedy with some fairly good writing and likeable characters, and some darker elements sprinklçed throughout (while not taking itself super seriously, it's mostly a comedy), nothing special, but it does its job.

I understand if the adaptation doesn't live up to the standards of the manga's art, but it's still pretty good, everyone that says this show has awful animation is either blind, lying or has only watched Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon slayer

If you're looking for some very goofy and fun comedy shonen, I would definetly ... recommend it

This show is dumb, like REALLY dumb, the whole premisse just makes absolutely no sense, but its fine as long as the story has a good explanation for it... to bad it doesn't

This anime that has a name so long I refuse to look it up for this review has some of the most generic world-building and plot, some of the most bland characters both personality-wise and design wise, and a main character that has a fun personality for about 2 episodes until it becomes gimmicky and repetitive. I'm sure everyone will point this out in other reviews but Alina being a receptionist makes absolutely ... zero sense for a lot of very obvious reasons, the show just ignores all of them.

To add to that, this is probably the worst CLoverworks adaptation I have seen since Promised Neverland 2, they were on a big streak of amazing projects but they stumbled here.

And seriously what is it with Alina's outfits? They dont fit her personality AT ALL and are there just to pander to horny dudes. Even the secretary outfit is ridiculous, miss me with that sh

This is going up there with the few unnironically good isekais that exists. Because Zenshu is a really good show.

Nothing about it is absolutely groundbreaking when it comes to its story, it is just a very well made plot with great character-development, especially for a 12 ep show. Some of the episodes have great direction and editing that deserve to be praised.

THe animation, as it is usual for MAPPA Studios, knocks it out of the park, good use of color, unique artstyle a and some great music to boot, all of this make this show stand out even more amongst other Isekai out there.

I ... have to give a special shoputout for the dub version, the cast absolutely knock it out of the park, especially Madeleine Morris as Natsuko and Ryan Negron as Luke, they absolutely killed it and would love to see them in even more stuff

Blue Box was a really antecipated show for months before it came out, having seen the trailer myself I thought it looked absolutely beautiful, especially for a romance anime.

Unfortunately the beautiful animation isnt consistent across all 25 episodes, which is a real shame seeing how good and consistent it was at first. Fortunately, the compositing team does god's work in this show, because it looks beautiful even when it lacks movement.

So how is the actual show? It's good, if not a little repetitive by the end, at first, the show does a great job at balancing the character's romantic life with their love for sports. ... Some of the best parts of this show are when it focuses on the sports these characters love. THe show deals very well with themes of losing at something even though you put your whole heart into it and how to deal with that. During those times, Blue Box is surprisingly mature. And I can say that as well when it comes to interpersonal relationships.

This show understands how to do character drama, which leads me to my biggest criticism of this show, which is its repetitive nature. During its second half, the show keeps going through similar situations as in the first half and it barely moves forward. For a 25 episode character focused drama, the characters are surprisingly two-dimensional, and I do mean literally, there are 2 dimensions to them: sports and romance, and while both of these "dimensions" are very well written and explored, I cant help but feel like these characters need something more to them to make me care about them more, they need to be put in more challenging situations, let us see more sides of them.

This is especially true for the female characters, as an example: Hina starts off as clearly the coolest girl ever, she has a fun personality, she is charming and she has great chemistry with the protagonist, but as much as I love her, she loses almost all of her charm by the end of the season. After she confesses her feelings, she very quickly devolves into being just another love interest of the protagonist who is clearly not going to win, instead of becoming a more interesting person looking to better herself. THis problem is even greater for Chinatsu, who lacked that initial charm Hina had.

I am really glad I gave the second season a shot after I had mixed feelings on the first. Not only is this season better storywise than the first by a very large margin, it made the buildup leading to it from season 1 kind of worth it.

I say "kind of" because I still think the problems I first had with season 1 being outdated are still true: 24 episodes is way too long to set up your protagonists in what feel sometimes like inconsequential arcs. Not only that as much as I lenjoyed season 2 more than 1, some of those outdated elements are ... still present in this season: stereotypichal anime characters, neglected female characters, repetitive "friendship" speeches that have characters talk a lot but say very little". That's just the beginning of some of the issues I have but its nothing I wasn't expecting. Such is the fate of adapting an old manga like this.

This season is when the plot starts moving forward and the actual antagonists are introduced, Shishio is by far the best villain of the series so far, being this evil, charming and sharp presence that haunts every scene he's in. He always controls the room and its not because of his strength alone, he commands respect from the people around him and they give it to him because they know he is deserving.

The animation is another thing that went up this season, not by a large margin or anything, but its noticibly better and I hope it keeps getting better and better

The absolutely obvious production issues bring this down compared to the first season, for sure. In the second half of the last episode we see what this show could've looked like if it had just been given more time, but alas.

Besides that, if you liked the dumb shit blue lock was doing in the first season, this season the shit has only gotten dumber to the point that it might pass the threshold of how ridiculous a show like this should be. For now it still has all the charm it had, but the stupid shit can only get it so far for me. ... I hope I don't have to see Blue Lock for a while so I know the animators actually cooked, because that makes all the difference, especially for a show like Blue Lock

For a remake of what is, essentially, a 30 year old show, this has aged FANTASTICALLY. I can't really comment on the original since I had never seen it.

Besides some really awkward thinks that are related to gender that come not only from how old this story is but also from the medium itself and the whole premise, this show really surprised me for how good it actually was.

This show is FUNNY like, really really funny, I dont usually laugh out loud when watching anime, only a few comedies have actually made me do that, but Ranma 1/2 made me laugh consistently every episode. ...

Top all of that with an amazing adaptation by studio MAPPA and I can't see how the old show can be better than this, it does just end abruptly, unfortunately. But I'm excited for next season!

Probably the most surprised I've been from an anime comedy since Kaguya-sama

I liked the idea of this show, at least what I thought the idea was: a romance where the girls are tomboys. Tomboys rule and aren't usually very well represented, so I thought it could be fun.

Instead what I got was a bunch of tropes and repeated jokes for 12 episodes straight, but now they're "crossdressing themed".

This show accentuates by a lot the problems I have with anime not accepting gay people in our society as something normal. There are ENTIRE EPISODES dedicated to Hagi (this show's most annoying character) just worried if he's gay because he's attracted to a women who cross dresses. He's ... such a good example of how anime thinks how funny a dude being gay is.

Besides all that this is just one more painfully generic show that does not even try to explore characters besides seeing them in slice of life, and for a slice of life show, there are a whole lot better you can do.

Also the show has a non-ending, literally just stops in the middle, and I have my doubts about the existence of a season 2

TL DR: Hearthwarming show with well written characters and relationship dynamics, very human and realistic

This show is absolutely a hidden gem, the whole concept of it prepares you for an heartwarming, but tragic story and that worried me at first because I thought they were just gonna make one of those "now you cry" shows like Your Lie in April, fortunately what they do here is a whole lot better.

Nothing in this series feels forced, the characters talk like real humans while still being goofy, relatable and fun, the relationship dynamics work very well, all the characters have a ton of thought and personality ... put into them, and the main character is very well developed by the end.

Add the great artstyle, direction and animation and what we have here is a surprisingly human show that is fun while it deals with tragic elements in a realistic way.

Absolutely recommend it

No matter what problems I might have with this show, I believe something like this NEEDS to be supported. For those unaware, Mecha-ude, was entirely funded through kickstarter, which is AWESOME! It's clear that the people that made this were super passionate about it, and it shows in the production department.

The show has a very distinctive and expressive artstyle reminiscent of what you would see from studio TRIGGER, the character designs are creative enough as well, pair this artstyle ith some gourgeous animation sequences and with Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto in the music side of things make this show really feel like a passion ... project and a dream come true for this small studio.

Unfortunately, though, that's where my praise ends, to put it simply, while having some cool imagery and themes that work, the story here is painfully generic, so is the dialogue. This was clearly written like a classic shonen, with the whole "power of friendship" style speeches that make me sigh immediately.

The show also takes absolutely no risks with its story, betrayals have no impact or are subverted into not mattering at all. And death has no consequence

And the amount of screaming and whining from "comic relief" characters was just getting to me by the end, STOP MAKING CHARACTERS LIKE THIS! THEY'RE ALWAYS ANNOYING and they ruin the tension of the show. These goofballs were making comedy sketches in the middle of the show's climax. Stop it!

And to top it all off, the end credits basically spoil what is essencially the next arc of the show through a slideshow. Look I understand you had no idea if this show was going to be successful and you wanted to show off the whole story in case you couldn't make season 2, but did you really need to pull a promised neverland season 2 powerpoint presentation for your ending? Show some confidence in your work!

And what is worse, the scene after those credits is a great ending to the season! It woudl've been a great wrap by itself!
