The absolutely obvious production issues bring this down compared to the first season, for sure. In the second half of the last episode we see what this show could've looked like if it had just been given more time, but alas.

Besides that, if you liked the dumb shit blue lock was doing in the first season, this season the shit has only gotten dumber to the point that it might pass the threshold of how ridiculous a show like this should be. For now it still has all the charm it had, but the stupid shit can only get it so far for me. ... I hope I don't have to see Blue Lock for a while so I know the animators actually cooked, because that makes all the difference, especially for a show like Blue Lock

For a remake of what is, essentially, a 30 year old show, this has aged FANTASTICALLY. I can't really comment on the original since I had never seen it.

Besides some really awkward thinks that are related to gender that come not only from how old this story is but also from the medium itself and the whole premise, this show really surprised me for how good it actually was.

This show is FUNNY like, really really funny, I dont usually laugh out loud when watching anime, only a few comedies have actually made me do that, but Ranma 1/2 made me laugh consistently every episode. ...

Top all of that with an amazing adaptation by studio MAPPA and I can't see how the old show can be better than this, it does just end abruptly, unfortunately. But I'm excited for next season!

Probably the most surprised I've been from an anime comedy since Kaguya-sama

I liked the idea of this show, at least what I thought the idea was: a romance where the girls are tomboys. Tomboys rule and aren't usually very well represented, so I thought it could be fun.

Instead what I got was a bunch of tropes and repeated jokes for 12 episodes straight, but now they're "crossdressing themed".

This show accentuates by a lot the problems I have with anime not accepting gay people in our society as something normal. There are ENTIRE EPISODES dedicated to Hagi (this show's most annoying character) just worried if he's gay because he's attracted to a women who cross dresses. He's ... such a good example of how anime thinks how funny a dude being gay is.

Besides all that this is just one more painfully generic show that does not even try to explore characters besides seeing them in slice of life, and for a slice of life show, there are a whole lot better you can do.

Also the show has a non-ending, literally just stops in the middle, and I have my doubts about the existence of a season 2

TL DR: Hearthwarming show with well written characters and relationship dynamics, very human and realistic

This show is absolutely a hidden gem, the whole concept of it prepares you for an heartwarming, but tragic story and that worried me at first because I thought they were just gonna make one of those "now you cry" shows like Your Lie in April, fortunately what they do here is a whole lot better.

Nothing in this series feels forced, the characters talk like real humans while still being goofy, relatable and fun, the relationship dynamics work very well, all the characters have a ton of thought and personality ... put into them, and the main character is very well developed by the end.

Add the great artstyle, direction and animation and what we have here is a surprisingly human show that is fun while it deals with tragic elements in a realistic way.

Absolutely recommend it

No matter what problems I might have with this show, I believe something like this NEEDS to be supported. For those unaware, Mecha-ude, was entirely funded through kickstarter, which is AWESOME! It's clear that the people that made this were super passionate about it, and it shows in the production department.

The show has a very distinctive and expressive artstyle reminiscent of what you would see from studio TRIGGER, the character designs are creative enough as well, pair this artstyle ith some gourgeous animation sequences and with Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto in the music side of things make this show really feel like a passion ... project and a dream come true for this small studio.

Unfortunately, though, that's where my praise ends, to put it simply, while having some cool imagery and themes that work, the story here is painfully generic, so is the dialogue. This was clearly written like a classic shonen, with the whole "power of friendship" style speeches that make me sigh immediately.

The show also takes absolutely no risks with its story, betrayals have no impact or are subverted into not mattering at all. And death has no consequence

And the amount of screaming and whining from "comic relief" characters was just getting to me by the end, STOP MAKING CHARACTERS LIKE THIS! THEY'RE ALWAYS ANNOYING and they ruin the tension of the show. These goofballs were making comedy sketches in the middle of the show's climax. Stop it!

And to top it all off, the end credits basically spoil what is essencially the next arc of the show through a slideshow. Look I understand you had no idea if this show was going to be successful and you wanted to show off the whole story in case you couldn't make season 2, but did you really need to pull a promised neverland season 2 powerpoint presentation for your ending? Show some confidence in your work!

And what is worse, the scene after those credits is a great ending to the season! It woudl've been a great wrap by itself!

When it comes to the first cour of any show, I am always hesitant to give it a 10/10 rating, due to the fact that 12 episodes isn't really enough to make such a conclusion. 12 episodes is the introduction, basically, and a 10/10 is reserved for masterfull shows that should stand the test of time.

With that said DanDanDan is probably the closest to a 10/10 first cour you can have. I love absolutely everything about this show: it is weird, charming, beautifull, action packed and emotional all at the same time, all while rocking top notch art direction, animation, cinematic direction, voice acting, editing, ... sound design.

Science Saru was probably the best studio to tackle an adaptation of DanDanDan, because they make the weird shit and they make it VERY WELL. This is as close as a perfect adaptation as you can get.

To reference a bit more of the emotional side, I have to mention episode 7. It's an absolute 11/10 masterpiece. It's an emotional and tragic story with absolutely perfect direction, editing and music. And it made me cry like a little b***.

It makes me incredibly happy seeing this episode rise in the IMDB ratings, as it took the internet by storm when it aired. And from what I've heard, there's way more where episode 7 came from in this story, and if it can execute those story beats the way this episode did, I feel like this could be close to a new defining shonen in the world of anime.

The biggest 9/10 I can give, if the next season keeps up with this level of quality and writing, this could be a 10 EASILY.

This is definitely a step down fom season 6. While season 7 presents us with some very good moments, what happens in-between in regards to structure and plot is very problematic. This season made more than clear all the issues My Hero Academia suffers from because they are all present and visible in this one arc: the pacing is absoulutely abysmal for a modern show, flashbacks after flashbacks after flashbacks taking major amounts of time and meat from each episode. And most of these are for incredibly dull and uninteresting characters.

Which brings me to another issue, the amount of characters this show has is ... insane, now of course I am aware that this is the 7th season of a show and that it is the last arc where everyone comes together. But thee way they do it SUCKS! Most of the time a character comes back, its to serve as a Deus Ex Machina to save everyone from the cliffhanger from the episode before, and then they become irrelevant again. In this season alone I can think of 5-6 times off the top of my head that that happened and its not fun nor compelling, its bad writing.

Both of these problems become extremely worse due to my third major problem with this season, which is bad structuring and lack of focus: everytime something important happnes we just cut to another place where the war is happening for a few episodes to tackle something else and we lose the sense of urgency and investment of the other storyline. There's even a time where we stop the biggest conflict of the show just to have 2 episodes about racism for some reason. It feels like poor planning in the mangaka's part.

And fourth, there are some serious lack of consequences for the characters involved, this is a WAR, heroes we like should be dying or losing their powers to all for one. Whenever that happens it's GREAT and engaging, but the times something incredibly consequential happens it's usually just solved with a Deus Ex Machina and the times it's not solved are few and far between. THis was also a problem last season but it is especially relevant now.

I enjoyed this season even more than the first. The focus the first half of this season gives on how a manga adaptation to another medium is made and all the problems that arise from it is probably my favourite part of the entire show so far. Couple that with a second half that sets up the mystery surrounding the main characters while breaking them and developing them and you honestly have a show that can be a main stay for years to come

Not only is this show a great exploration and commentary on the show industry in japan (everywhere,really, but it's main focus is ... there) but it also has amazing character work and sets up very interesting plot details for next season. All while having amazing visuals, storyboarding, animation, music and pacing. I can't recommend this show enough

This show comes out of the gate presenting some really interesting concepts with it's "near future science fiction", however, instead of exploring this world in debt, ATRI is more of a character based show that takes place around the interesting world it presents, which isn't a bad thing in it of itself. However, this show is about a loli robot and her romantic relationship with our adult main character.

Before anyone starts going at me for complaining about something that has been a common discussion for years in the anime community, let's get one thing straight: Atri looks like a child, dresses like a child, ... acts like a child, thinks like a child and learns like a child, so she IS A CHILD! And her relationship with Natsuki is CREEPY! i don't care how many times this show tries to tell me that "she's actually 33 years old" or "she's a robot so it's different", it's creepy either way! And since the show revolves mainly around this relationship, it's no surprise that the good elements the show has have absolute no impact on me

Before I say anything else, I just want to adress that this anime is a really good time, if you're looking for an action packed, wonderfully animated show this absolutely is for you. This show proves that you don't need super high stakes to make your audience invested in your story, the goal is to do something that has never been done before in a videogame, and that is AWESOME and a breath of fresh air for anime.

With all that said it really pains me to say what I'm about to say, but whoever wrote this seems to not be familiar with many MMOS ... at all!
Yes! comparatively to your typical "gaming" anime, this show has way better worldbuilding and way better sense of what a game is and its systems. But that's not saying much when every anime set in a videogame makes no attempt at making its game realistic at all. And Shangri-la has a ton of problems in that front. Every episode there would be multiple times where a mechanic or feature of SLF made me scratch my head thinking "that would never work in a videogame like this", "that's a terrible mechanic", "that would break the game immediatly", "that would be super frustrating". and for what is supposed to be a "god game", there are way to many bad systems to make me believe this game is as good as it is. It seems like the author made a lot of research about games, but hasn't ever played them extensively to understand what works and what doesn't.

It shouldn't be that important, because this is just a fun action show and I'm thinking about it way too much, but I'm waiting for one anime, ONE, that gets this right and this wasn't it. It's a really good time either way I just needed to rant about that.
