Tian Huang Zhan Shen is another one of those Chinese anime where the main character starts as the weakest in his village but some how becomes over powered and no one can stand a change against him in a matter of episodes.
I don't feel like there's a reason for me to write a full on review so I'll state how I feel. There's no reason for you to waste 6 plus hours on this anime. The writing is lazy, the plot line is so blend that you will probably have a better time watching paint dry and the characters are beyond generic. Some of
...
the scenery in this anime are so poorly made it looks like it was ripped from a $2 unity asset flip game on steam.
As someone who is Chinese and enjoy seeing genuinely well-made Chinese anime such as Quanzhi Gaoshou, I despite these low quality shows. They add nothing new to the table and acts as a quick cash grab for the studio.
That's about it, just go found something else to watch.

Never did write a review on the first season of this anime, but since I'm here, I might as well give this whole series up to this point a review. I'll keep this nice and short as I think there are not much to really say about this anime anyways.
Wu Dong Qian Kun is an anime based in an alternate version of ancient China all about this boy named Lin Dong, but if you are here, you probably already know all that. Lin Dong was weak and then he became strong for no reason blah blah blah.
Listen, yes, this is another one of those Chinese
...
anime set in ancient times, where the main character is op and everyone who comes against him, even if 5 times stronger on paper will still lose. Is it trashy? Yeah. Is it predictable? Yeah. But I personal enjoy these types of anime for a brain dead viewing experience. If you are someone who wants 10 outta 10 story, 10 outta 10 plot, this ain't it, and it never will be. But if you like a bit of casual op main character "trashy" anime. Then here you go.
Story and Character are a 5 outta 10 on a good day, quite bland and overdone. But the art and sound on the other hand isn't too bad. I did enjoy a fair bit of these two seasons so I'm not gonna leave it with too bad of score but it gets a 6.5/10 from me.
One last thing before I go, Chinese is my first language, and this anime's English subs are way less interesting than the actual dialogue and they sometimes even miss-translate things. But this happens with 90% of Chinese anime so there really isn't much you can do about it. Learn Chinese maybe? probably not.
Ok, that's all from me folks, adios.

I'm writing this review after watching all 3 seasons of the anime as well as all the specials that are available at this moment.
This review will be spoiler free, so feel free to read before you watch.
The first season of Doupo Cangqiong is garbage, there are no other ways to put it. The story is stale and have been done many times before. Normally I don't have a problem with overused stories as long as the execution is good, but as you guessed it, the execution is also trash.
Story:
This story starts with our protagonist Xiao, Yan. When he was just a young boy, he
...
had great power that surpassed everyone his age. He was a genius, and because of his amazing abilities, he was engaged to Yan Ran, Na Lan, a girl from a powerful family. Just as everything was going well for Xiao, Yan, something terrible happened. After he turned 11, his power stopped growing and even became weaker as time went on. After three years, he was one of the weakest in his family, and deemed useless by his peers.
Because of this, Yan Ran, Na Lan wanted to break their engagement as she doesn't not want to be married to a useless husband. This was devastating to Xiao, Yan's family as her family was very powerful and sacred off people who tried to take over.
In the Heat of the Moment, Xiao, Yan promised a 1v1 with Yan Ran, Na Lan in 3 years time. If he was to win, he can do whatever he wants with her, but if she wins, she'll get to break off their engagement. From there the story begins.
Conclusion:
The reason I said the first season was garbage isn't necessarily because of the plot, but more of the poor execution when it comes to story telling. It was incredibly boring to watch the predictable plot points happen one after another. The music used isn't that great, even the OP is questionable. Overall the whole season could have been cut down to 3-4 episodes.
However, I'm writing this review not to drive you away from watching this anime as the second and third seasons are so much better after a new animation studios took over. I recommend skipping through the first season or reading the webnovel so you know the main plot points and moving on to the next seasons.
This season is a 5 out of 10 at most while the next two seasons are easily 7-8 out of ten. So please, do not turn away from a great anime due to this first shitty season.

I was planning to write a review on this anime anyways, but after reading the only other review, I now have to write one.... (the other review was really bad... if you couldn't tell already)
This review is spoiler free so feel free to read it before you watch.
Xing Chen Bian is a Chinese anime I found while going though the romance genre on MAL. I decided to give it a go since it had a decent rating. With that being said, there are zero romance in this anime, ZERO. so if romance is the only thing you care about, move along cuz you ain't finding
...
it here.
Let's start with the story, it's pretty basic. We all have seen an anime where the main character is told that he is hopeless and can't do great things, and somehow he becomes OP. Well, this is one of those. The main character Qin, Yu was born without the special gift to hold power within himself, so he was deemed useless. Although his father never gave up on him and loved him very much, he didn't have high hopes for him. The story begins with a flash back (or I guess flash foreword) of a bit of the last episode, and then cuts back to Yu's childhood.
The plot itself wasn't bad but it lacks creativity in the bigger picture (6/10)
The music used in this anime was great as with almost all Chinese anime, they add on to the mood and gives the scenes which have music more character. The background soundtrack as well as the sound affects are also very well done, nothing felt out of place. (9/10)
This anime uses CGI combined with real human motion capture, so while the animation is presented in 3D, everything is very smooth and sometimes felt real. It is not perfect however as some scenes still feels edited. Overall the art was nice to look at so (9/10)
Now on to some of my small nit-picks. The pacing felt off on the earlier half of the anime, some things I felt could have been cut shorter and vice versa, however I understand that could just be personal reference. The dialog sometime have unnecessary pauses and charters just kinda of stood there doing nothing. There was many times were it felt more like cut-scenes from a RPG rather than an anime. But hey, these are just some of the things I found odd.
Last but not least, the translation. I was born in China and lived there for 12 years before I moved to Canada, so my first language is Chinese. Chinese as a language in nature is more complicated than English, so any Chinese anime you watch will be better if you understood Chinese. As this anime takes place in a fantasy version of China a few hundred years ago, the language used is sometimes complicated and when translated, lose some of its meaning. So just keep that in mind if the translation doesn't make sense sometimes.
Overall, this was a fairly enjoyable anime to watch. It is definitely not a masterpiece or something close to it, but if you just want something to watch and pass the time, this anime is not a bad choice. Overall a 7.2 out of 10 in my books.
Give it a go and see what you think!

This had to be one of the best OVA/ONAs I have ever seen for any anime
Before I start, I would like to add the fact that I was planning on writing a review for the main anime, but I never got to it, so some of my opinions of the first season will also be put in here if it is suitable. I assume that everyone here has watched the 1st season, because why would you be here otherwise.
even tho this ONA follows the story of the main anime, it introduces something that the main story doesn't have that much of, detailed one on
...
one PVPs that doesn't only show the in game side, but also the player. In the last episode, the fight between Rou Tang and the pro player even gave me initial D flash backs when the player's real life stamina was mentioned. This gives the in game fights more of a realistic feel as the power levels and the abilities of characters are never clearly explained to the viewers(Which is a good thing). I'm looking forward to this story telling technique being used further into the series as the anime seems to be shifting its weight more towards the competitive side of the game.
In terms of the storyline in these 3 episodes, nothing really sticks out. However, the few progresses made are very crucial to the season 2 release and the main storyline as the esports team that has been hinted at is officially created in the last scene. Not only does this allow us to get an idea for that's to come, but it also fixes up a few things that were not fully concluded such as Xiu Ye's hidden identity towards Guo Chen and Rou Tang.
As someone who lived in China for the first 12 years of my life, I really didn't like any Chinese anime till a few weeks ago. In fact, I used to preferred Japanese anime OVER Chinese anime because I didn't have to listen to the awkward voice acting in Chinese anime. The king's avatar however, has perfect voice acting which made me laugh at times, and emotional at others, it's not forced and fits in with how people actually talk in Mandarin. This is what we need more of to come out of China. I'm very proud of this anime both as a casual anime viewer and someone who is Chinese.
Over all, this is an anime serious that I will keep on watching and hopefully enjoying.

This is the first anime that made me cry in a while
I went into this movie having high expectations, and I finished the movie thinking about how much better it would have been if this and if that. With that being said, this anime does not deserve the 4 or 5 ratings reviews that are top voted. (This review contains certain spoilers)
First off, I’ll start off with the things that are done right. The symbolism with the smaller things are done with care and meaning: the gum that was offered to Haruki 3 times represents other classmates' feelings towards him. He was unable to accept
...
it because he was unwilling to open up to others, but with the help of Sakura, he was able to return those feelings the 3rd time. Sakura’s murder was also well foreshadowed in the beginning of the movie, when Haruki’s mom appears on screen for the first time, she was watching the local news, which reported a case of murder that the police was unable to solve. If you were able to notice this small detail, you would have seen Sakura’s death coming. But because her death was so sudden and out of no where, you would have forgot about it till then.
The story on the other hand was dry, there are really not many memorable events that happened between the characters. Even though Haruki and Sakura had this relationship that was “unrepresentable by just the terms friends or girlfriend and boyfriend” they really haven’t done anything special. Most of the character development are done off screen or briefly mentioned.
This anime starts off with the funeral of Sakura, some people might not like that as it serves as a spoiler, but I think that’s a fine opening. What I find unenjoyable is the fact that the events and character developments are done in such a slow faction. With an ending that evolves death, the viewer would look for more then what the movie was able to offer. The amount of enjoyable screen time between Sakura and Haruki was fairly little leading up to no good conclusion other than that “your lie in April” type dreamy realization at the end.
Overall, if I didn’t go in to this anime with high expectations, I might have enjoyed it for what it is. So, at the end of the day, this movie isn’t a masterpiece, but it also isn’t something that’s 4 or 5 out of ten. Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai is an enjoyable movie that you wouldn’t regret watching if you are into Drama or Romance.

This is a difficult one for me. To give some background, I’m a 17 year old who lived in ShangHai for 11 years of my life, and trust me, I have a few things to say about this film.
Setting:
I did not know the stories were located in China before I started watching it, since it was suggested by a friend, but I did enjoy the fact that it is something new and different. Without losing the forces on the story the film is trying to tell, it does a great job of setting the right location with the right context. Everything felt right, but not
...
just that, they felt real. Although I can’t say much for the locations of the first two episodes other than their accurate, I do have a lot to say about the last one. The details that were used to create the atmosphere was not only correct, but surprisingly fitting. Countless times during the film I would pause, close my eyes, and let the nostalgic feelings hit me. People leaving their tab on low to cheat the water bills, the cassette tapes that can’t be found anymore, and even the old toys in the box remind me of the exact same brand toys I had when I was young, all of which originated off of a Chinese cartoon. This is a Netflix anime, and for it to be this accurate, down to the very details of the early 2000s era of China made me surprised.
Story:
The stories are fairly generic, but done well with the touch of music, animation and great voice acting. This isn’t going to be the first time you watch a story about a guy reminiscing about his childhood experiences. Or a story about someone successful being replaced by someone new. And if you have seen Kimi no na wa, you would think that the third episode has a lot of common points with Kimi no na wa. Some part of the film is a little boring to sit thought, but overall, I was able to keep watching everything it had to offer. The endings seemed a little forcefully cut short, which I did not like.
Characters:
Characters seemed really generic to the story. This film mostly focus on story telling, rather than character development. Which means the characters really aren’t going to be too rememberable.
Music:
The background music fits the story well, it set the mood for some of the scenes and it never felt repetitive or out of place. Nothing really stood out to me, but nothing was out of place.
Animation:
The art and animation is 10/10, I mean, there are not many animes out there that can make noodles look this fucking good… FUCKING NOODLES.
Overall:
This show is a 8.5/10 for me. Might not be for everyone, but definitely doesn't deserve the embarrassing low ratings of 1/10 or 3/10 that I've been seeing.

Sukitte Ii na yo has been on my on hold list for a few month now after I watched the first episode, the reasons that I could remember for this show to be on hold were just the art style and my misunderstanding towards Shoujo as a genre. When I watched the first episode of this anime, I just started watching romace anime, and for me, I had lots of shows on my list. The First episode didn't catch on to my childish taste in romace, so I left it there, and forgot about it.
Last Night, while browsing YouTube aimlessly, I came a cross a
...
top 10 YouTube video. With nothing but "Trash Harem" on my plate, I clicked on the video. Althoght this anime wasn't rated that high on the list, I found myself wanting to give it a second chance. So here I am (7 am), after a allnighter finishing this show episode after episode.
First, lets talk abut the setting. There really isn't anything new here as far was the Shoujo and school romace genres go. An anti social girl and the hotest, most liked boy in the school, An idea that has been done countless amounts of times. But to me, a overused setting/background does not mean the anime is automaticlly going to turn out bad. The most importent parts to an anime is how they handle the character devalopment and the overall story line, in my opinion.
Lets talk about Characters. The charaters here are fairly well done, beside one fact, it seems to me that everyone has the worst childhoods ever. Having tragic backgrounds gives the characters' actions more emotion and give the viewers more things to relate on. But this show does it to everyone who is some what of a main character. Overall, the characters seemed fairly realistic and likeable. Tachibana, Mei's Change was every well done
The art is something that put me off at first. It's always hard to have something other than the main steam anime art style, but after watching every little detail, I realised how beautiful some of the animations and still piantings looked. The charater's faces are done at perfect timings to give the show its comdy effects here and there. The art is different, but it sure is not bad.
Here is where I talk about how this show was about to move me. As someone who watches 90% romace, a special kind of romace anime has always been at the top of my list: Those that can pull of a "relationship starting early" well, without the same events repeating themselves over and over again. Some of my all time fav such as "Golden Time" "Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii" and "Bakemonogatari" all did a great job of that. This show was not that far behind. Events felt some what relatable, and uselly ended on a good note, which is aways a good thing for rommace anime. There were moments that moved my heart, actions that I was exctied about, and words that will drive me carzy between happiness and sad. The Enjoyment was definelly high up there.
If you are looking for a masterpiece, you are most likely in the wrong place. But if you want a cute romace story that has a story to keepyou hooked, this is the shoujo/Romace for you.
(Oh yeah, why does this show make it seem like Highshcools in Japan are just full of kids being bullied, fake friends and having sex with any hot guy and girl you can find? Just me? idk, let me know what you think.)

"Araragi-kun, Do you want a girlfriend?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Cause you are going to get one if you say yes."
Bakemonogatari is an anime that does many things right in my opinion. For a person like me who likes Visual learning more than reading, this anime doesn't stop me from being surprised, in a good way. The art style, the way the characters present themselves, the way they use dialogue to give viewer information, and the different OPs that represent each female character. To be honest, the list goes on.
First, lets get the visuals of this anime out of the way. This is probably the first
...
thing you notices about this anime that makes it stand out from the others. Bakemonogatri uses unique anime character designs and backgrounds that are just as unique. The way the school is located in the middle of no where with no city background at all; The way they purposely only modeled one traffic car but use it over and over again; and of course, how can we forget the use of flash screens, real life pictures and cut outs in the OPs and between dialogues. All those unique visual techniques serve one purpose, It keeps your attention focused on what really matters. To keep a dialog forced anime stand out, it needs good visuals to support it. This style of art keeps the views forces on what the characters are saying instead of making the viewer gather information from the art itself. To think that this anime first aired in 2009, it really was ahead of its time.
Of course if the dialogue is no good, than this anime wouldn't be a 9.5/10 for me. This is a perfect example of dialogue done right. There are almost no useless information being pasted on to the viewers. Every line that the characters says either adds on to their character, or add a piece or two to the over all story. Sure, dialogue isn't the best tool for everything, but thats why this anime has the visuals to do the rest. (Some of the narration sounds a little washed out as in sound quality, but it does not affect the anime since there aren't that much narration in the first place)
Next, let's talk about Characters. Because of this anime's Mystery/Supernatural background, many and almost all of the characters are unrelatable to the viewer. But that didn't stop me from falling in love with some of them. It really isn't but the character's visuals or their background, but the way they delivered their dialogue. Some of the things that are said in this anime is so different from the norm that it becomes refreshing. Different girls have different identities, but none of them appear to be shallow to me. On the other hand, the main character seems a little weak when it comes to dialogues.
As some one who watches mostly romance, I have to say that the romance in Bakemonogatari is every well done. Because of how unique the two main characters are, they formed this really enjoyable refreshing romance experience.
However, romance isn't this anime's only focuses. Some of the Mystery aspects are so enjoyable and shocking that even me, who isn't really in to this genera of anime look back on some of the events. When it comes to the plot, this anime didn't have fan-service or Filler episodes to waste your time. It goes from event to event, girl to girl, making every episode remember-able in a certain area.
Overall, this is one of my favorite anime for sure. Everything felt deep and meaningful, even if they weren't. If you want something that is out of the norm and well done, this will be your masterpiece.

It has been a couple of month since I finished this anime, and I fell like now this the right time for me to write a review after looking back. Back when I watched golden time, I just started watching anime and Golden Time was one of the first romance anime that I discovered on my own without a friend's suggestion. Although I did enjoy this anime very much at the time, I didn't realize how unique it was. It might seem like any school/relationship Romance anime, but it does many thing differently, and makes most episodes enjoyable. (There will be spoilers in this review)
First
...
of all, the setting isn't in high school! This might not seem like that big of a change, but it adds another level to this anime. The characters live on their own, they can get a job at night clubs, the main location of episodes aren't just class rooms and things that make the events more alive and believable.(Not just Christmas, Valentine's Day or the good old school Festival)
Above the setting difference this anime makes, the main character isn't some antisocial loner. The story is able to use the fact that the main character lost his memories to create this love triangle. A love triangle that isn't painful to watch. The force of this anime being the main character over coming his memory lost with his new friends and new girlfriend, keeps this anime fresh and different in every episode.
Given the situation(Love triangle, memory lost etc) that this anime has put itself in, the ending is one of the best I have seen. This is what my expectations of a perfect Happy Ending should look like. It doesn't spoil you with overstatement or more characters just the latch off another season, it tries its best to make your watching experience feel enjoyable. Although simple words like "promise me you will stay with me for the rest of our lives" and "I love the way I am when I'm with you." doesn't push new ideas on to the viewers, but instead reinforces the two main characters current relationship. This kind of ending wouldn't leave you with the emotional and lonely after taste of something like Your lie in April, or the feeling of that lost and sorrow love in white album 2, but it was make you look back and think: "what a wonderful experience".
Overall, I understand why this anime has a huge divide within its reviews. If not taken seriously, you my mistake this as any generic romance anime. But if you take your time and give the whole anime a watch, maybe you can look back months after and appreciate, like I did.
