I'm surprised I'll be the first to leave a review here.
Well, this is Yami Shibai, the 12th season. For the genre it presents, I think it holds up quite well. From the presentation or animation, if I should even call it that (it’s a play, or a theater story or something), to the content and finally to the duration of the episodes (4 minutes each); everything does well to send chills down my spine, that is, do what it’s supposed to do.
After stumbling upon this season and easily finishing it in no time, I went down the spiral of looking for more like it.
...
Which is why I look favorably on this season, because in comparison to the others I saw, this one stands as the creepiest. Kagewani for example, the first episode is too long, with unnecessary lengthy conversations and chasing scenes such that horror appeal was easily lost. In any case, I recommend Yami Shibai for an easy chill down one’s spine. But if you’re looking for something to knock you off your socks or make you pee your pants, this is not it. I’d describe it as a set of stories you’d tell to get to scare a kid, but still have them go into their room by themselves in the dark.
I personally enjoyed the highly short season, and I plan on conquering the rest of the series seasons. I hope this review helps.
