[SPOILER FREE/SHORT REVIEW]
AAAHHH, DEATH PARADE!!! I WANTED TO LIKE YOU SO MUCH!!!
I went into this with so much hope and excitement, expecting I would love every episode. In actuality, there was one episode, 11. The ice skating scene in episode 11 was fantastic as well as the ending. Every other episode was just interesting enough to keep my interest in the show, but in the end, felt lacking.
The most important thing to a show for me is its characters, and with a show like this one, you watch as characters rotating through a revolving door. As is the nature of a show about death games,
...
but this show expects us to care about these characters that we dont get chance to know anything about. This is the reason I liked episode 11 so much, as it involves characters we are given multiple episodes to get to know and care about. The show is also full of predictable plot twists and story beats that just make no sense. Nothing really caught me off guard and made be surprised.
Technically speaking, this show had very good visuals and was incredibly directed despite its flaws. This unfortunately left me in a tough spot with my score. If I had a category for presentation, it would be an 8, easy, but everything else is incredibly generic. Would I recommend this? Eh, sure. Its not bad, just really not my thing...

[SPOILER FREE/SHORT REVIEW]
I enjoyed Rec way more than I originally thought I would. A romantic comedy where the characters actually hook up in the first episode? This is a story where the characters feel real. Its like this is a story that you could actually believe would happen in real life, and that is part of its core appeal.
The setting is what really lifted this show up and above the typical rom-com/drama. This is not a high school show, and the characters are actual adults that behave like human beings. I cannot stress this enough, the characters, for the most part, act like real
...
people with real life struggles and responsibilities.
Considering this is a show from 2006, I can say that the art isn't really my thing and the animation is pretty lacking; its average at best for a show of its time. I do have to give credit to the voice acting in this show, especially Aka. She put on a lot of different voices, and just by listening you could tell when she was do her job as a voice actor, when she was quoting a movie or just being herself. It was a nice touch.
Now on to the most glaring flaw there is. The directing was extraordinarily flat. There was a strange need for the characters to tell the audience what they were feeling instead of showing it and letting us understand their emotions through their actions. There was also an over-reliance on conversations that feel unnatural because they focus dumping information on the viewer.
Despite this though, I would still recommend this show to anyone interested in romance. 10 minute episodes makes this an incredibly easy watch. The bonus episode is also worth watching in between episode 7 and 8.

[SPOILER FREE/SHORT REVIEW]
Angel Beats is a tough one, so I'm going to start by recommending you give this show a go. I recommend experiencing this show before reading this review, if it looks like something you will like. I am likely to put you off with this review, so you've been warned!
This show is a mess. The pacing is so jarring that it honestly baffles me how someone approved this during story-boarding. Every episode is determined to end on either a twist or a climax making it incredibly difficult to care about what is happening. Everything feels rushed, almost like this was planned to be
...
24 episodes, but was only given 13.
The above is also true for character development. There are 19 members of the SSS + Tenshi (the one they are fighting). You can not expect to develop even half of these characters to the extent of feeling any kind of emotion towards them. Anyone who has even heard of Angel Beats knows this is a sad story, but there is no build up. How can I get emotional when I don't even know the characters. Oh, I know... use manipulative music and lighting to "set the scene" and have the characters cry. This will make you tear up, but on reflection the scene means nothing!
Now it sounds like I hate this show; all I have done is complain about it. But... a 6/10 is a positive score! Well... I enjoyed watching. This is why I recommended the show at the start of this review. I really liked how it looked, how it sounded; I liked the comedy and how there was never a dull moment. I was never bored and despite the plot-hole ending, I wasn't thinking about it while watching.
6/10: By my own metrics, a decent show with some flaws. This sums up my feelings on this show entirely.

[SPOILER FREE/SHORT REVIEW]
This is a hidden gem. The fact that only 340 people have got this on their list is quite disappointing. I am currently taking part in the recommendation clubs August/September challenge. I have to watch a show from each year from 1985-2004 in the next two months. I found this browsing the archived seasonal charts and thought, "Hmm, this might just be stupid enough to be enjoyable!".
Let me say, I was wrong. This is not stupid at all! This was such an eyeopener for me! This film looks silly. Bearing in mind my thoughts going into it, the first shot was a
...
bunch of penguins lined up in bush firing M16's at other penguins and I laughed so hard I had to pause to take a breather. However, once this action tones down a bit, we are introduces to our main characters. Three best friend penguins, one of which was just wounded. They have a good talk and at this point it all sinks in. This film is serious.
This film focuses less on the combat and much more on character development and what war does to an individual. An individual who has lost things very close to them. An individual who wants to live a quiet life as a librarian, where he can be surrounded by the poetry that motivates him to keep pushing forward through tough times.
This was released in 1985, and I would say that the artwork is average even for its time, though with the exception of the first and third scene, there isn't a lot of heavy animation anyway. It is a very dialogue and character driven story. The music and sound was also pretty average, though I couldn't point to anything I disliked.
A 7/10 is a good score, something I give to anime that I don't want to forget about. It isn't given to a "meh" piece of throwaway entertainment. Its something that I enjoyed immensely.

[SPOILER FREE/SHORT REVIEW]
This is currently the worst thing I have ever added to my list, though I wouldn't say it is the worst show I have ever watched. This is because I don't even consider this a show.
It has been two months since I watched this and I have already forgotten 90% of what happened in it, mainly due to its lack of substance. Nothing matters in this show; there are no stakes, no meaningful character motivations and the show just forgets about its own plot line halfway through.
The first episode opens with a scene that has no context that seems to be set
...
later in the story. Basically a guy massacres a bunch of 'undead'. As someone who thoroughly enjoyed steins;gate, this scene gave me expectations that this scene would come up again as some plot point later on that would explain what is going on. This is never seen again.
The main plot line is a 'kidnapped damsel in distress' story, but they just forget about it as our main characters dives into a video game to help some kid win a tournament. It feels like a series of short stories that don't have endings; they just move onto the next one without wrapping anything up.
I can't even say the animation and sound is average. Half the time you can't even tell what is going on and the only decent piece of music in the entire sound track is the ending song.
OVERALL: Don't watch this. I didn't have high expectations and it still disappointing me. 10 minute episodes made the experience slightly less painful, but there is zero merit to this 'show'.
