Both are about the Hiroshima bombing in 1945 and its tragic consequences. While Pika Don is short and informative on the actual act of the bombing, Barefoot Gen builds on the bombing and shows the aftermath with detail.

Both are intense, bloody and engaging shows that center around survival. Shiro and Ganta's relationship is very similar to that of Yuno and Yukkitteru-- both female leads have the dominant personality, mixed with mystery and more to them than meets the eye. Similar art between the two. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other, guaranteed.

Both have lots of gore with scary moments. Both series have a cute girl that chases the main character around, use the wide-eyed look for creepy characters and use disgusting splats for blood shedding scenes. Also, Both the main characters in Higurashi and Mirai Nikki have one objective-- to stay alive.

Both animes start out with the creation of a club made by a girl who is an out cast. Consequently, both animes have male leads that get dragged into the club and are forced to go to the clubs activities against their will. There is also a character in Boku wa that sounds like Haruhi.

I was only a few episodes into Seto no Hanayome and I felt like I was rewatching School Rumble!. Hilariously funny stuff- incredible facial expressions, horribly entertaining situations, and that overall feeling of "This is so stupid, but I can't stop laughing!"

While watching Usagi Drop, I couldn't stop thinking about how much it reminded me of Kimi Ni Todoke. They both have similar artwork, and both series has that light, fluffy, flowery air about them. Both wonderful stories as well, though there's nothing very similar between plot lines.

I couldn't stop thinking about Whisper of the Heart throughout the entire movie of Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo. Toki wo~ is not done by Miyazaki, but its still some pretty great art. The story lines and characters are not extremely similar in the two movies, but Chizuku resembles Makoto quite a bit in looks and in temperament. I think if you liked Whisper of the Heart, you will LOVE Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo.

Some of the characters are very similar! For example, the two main characters of Toradora and Shakugan no Shana, Taiga and Shana, are so similar that sometimes I forget that they are two individual characters! Kitamura and Ike are both very similar in character and looks, and I even see similarities in Ami and Margery Daw. Shakugan no Shana has more action, but they both have love and Comedy. If you enjoyed Toradora, you will probably enjoy Shana, as well!
