THis is just another money grab, just like hollywood. It's Berserk, people will watch it, no need to give a fluck about the useless fans. We've seen so many useless remakes of our favorite comic heros from DC and Marvel, now Japan spits in our face. Give us what we want. Let Madhouse do the series JUSTICE!
Story 6: It's Berserk so it has to get a 6 at least. They cut out a lot of the important parts, and censoring just made it so bland and PG.
Art 2: Gods it was so bad. People saying it looks
...
good or the pencil makes add depths are in denial. Clunky animation, worse action scenes that use cuts and shaky cam. The pencil marks just look like the characters were dragged along an asphalt road and have skid marks. I've seen better animation in MMD. We've seen great #d animation from Square, Dreamworks, and Pixar... Making the most popular manga of all time like this... is an insult. Guess Square is the only one that can do great CG in Japan.
Sound 2: Well we all know about the same clang sound over and over. Music was alright, but doesn't compare the the POWER of Susumu Hirasawa "Forces" in the original.
Character 2: Horrible, abysmal, and second worst next to art. Hardly any facial change to any character. No epic rage change to Guts as he desperately defends the one he loves. The facial expression and body language is ruined by the clunky animation.
Enjoyment & Overall 2: Put these two together. It was one of the worst experiences in my whole anime watching life. Each episode (I watched the whole thing) was like being stabbed in my gut, over and over. I usually don't wish bad things on people, but I hope Millipense gets the boot and we get a decent studio.

I'm writing this after watching season 1 and season 2 recently (I've watched 3, but not spoiling), and season 1 was slow, slow to the pace that a snail would sneer. The story is great, and there is So much potential in this anime that I get miffed that they stretch it out so long.
Story: Much better in season 2, but only in episodes 12-24, episodes 1-12 are mostly about Shana and Kazumi being jealous. You'll get it when you watch it. After episode 12 is when it gets good, some of the sub-charaters and the mains realize their feelings.
...
Episode 12+ it's a good watch, watch the first 12, but feel free to skip some.
Art: Much better in season 2. The action scenes are faster and more vibrant. I think the characters looked better and the action scenes were much better than season 1.
Sound: The opening was good, sound during the series was average. Why do we have this category? Series sound is standard for most... all anyone judges is the opening and ending (and most are average)
Character: MUCH better than season 1. There were the useless flashbacks like in season 1, but there was some progression in the characters. Special. The background characters. Some very emotion scenes in episodes 12+, you'll get no tear/fuzzy in 1-12. Episodes 1-12 are a median for emotion, watch them, but feel free to skip 2-3 minutes at a time (you won't miss much). Episodes 12-24 were much better, but there were those slow moments.
All in all: 3 times better then Season 1. Better action that was faster and more entertaining. Better art and plot in some episodes. I still think that this wouls have been a series that could have been a classic. If they would have put more into the Art, less time into the back story of characters we could care less about.
Guy is an idiot, girl is an idiot... they are all idiots. Only ones that aren't idiots now are Ogata and Tanaka. Epic scenes there with those two, and I loved it.

I think this one deserves more credit. I'm old-school so I love these old anime. At the time the story wasn't all that original, but it had "feeling". There was an emotional element to it. Yes the animation wasn't that great, especially by todays standards. You can't judge old anime that way though.
Story: Dang good even though you don't get some of it. That's kinda par for most anime anyway.
Art: not so great, but the action is good.
Sound: Mediocre... never have figured out why this is a category... Who cares. All anyone talks about is
...
opening and ending songs which make no difference in the story.
Character: Well done and with feeling, there is a love story and you get it.
You'll like it or hate it. Just depends on your taste and whether you're addicted to the new style of anime art. I thought this was great.

First review and I usually don't care to post reviews but I just had to for this one. I watched the Dub of this, and that is the only reason i actually finished this series.
Story: There was a decent story to this, nothing very original. It was interesting though. The pace in the anime was so slow that you really didn't care much though. It is slow, incredibly slow. Give it one point up for being dubbed there, you could get up and make a meal or go to the bathroom and still hear the plot. I skipped
...
through half of this and enjoyed it much more than I did watching every minute. Would have been much more enjoyable if it would have been 12 episodes and they put more effort into the art.
Art: This was the biggest disappointment in the whole series. One of the worst animation I have seen, especially for it's time. If you really pay attention you can really see how lazy they were. All the effort seemed to be put into making this 24 episodes. A lot of filler and still scenes. I enjoyed many 1980 and 1990 anime WAY more than this on the artistic level.
Sound: The OP and ending were pretty good. What really Made this a decent one for sound were the Dubbed VAs. One of the only reasons I kept one with this series. They did a great job on such a slow paced plot.
Character: Can't say I really cared much. The pace was so slow that I was blase about every character in the series. Episodes 14-17 were pointless, just a flashback that didn't make any difference how I felt about the characters.
All in all This would have been a much better series if it would have been condensed to 12 episodes and more effort put into the art, and making the action scenes more exciting. Yes, even the action scenes were slow. I didn't get a feel for any of the characters or feel much emotion during the whole series. There are many anime that I get emotional about, whether excited, angry, or tear-jerker. This isn't any of those.
