The third installment to the series excluding the OVAs and it continues getting better by the second. First let me state that AoT is what got me into the anime medium in the first place which may lead to my opinion being biased a little bit, but I probably won’t need to exaggerate on its quality for it already speaks for itself.
Second, this season was being criticized by many manga readers even before its release for it takes a different directive being mostly about the political situation within the walls and fights among humans themselves instead of against naked titans. This is honestly upsetting because
...
of how presumptuous it is and from what I’ve seen so far I can assure you that the thrill remains the same as you’re used to if not better along with the intriguing action any fan of the series would be pleased with.
As for the titans, even if there isn’t much titan action, because most of what seemed confusing in previous seasons is explained here we will have enough titans in the flashbacks all through. So, if you’ve seen unjustified hate befall this anime, don’t let this bum you out. Watch the PV and feast your eyes upon the action then give the first four, no, first two episodes a try and you will know what I mean.
Lastly before I start actually reviewing anything, I just want to state how glad I am to review one of my first favorite series as it airs since it means a lot to me and my career as an anime fan.
Now to the juicy part
Story:
We continue from where we left off last season. If you took my advice and watched the PV you would know this season mostly follows Levi and his squad and it starts from there. The scouts have fallen drastically and the political situation just keeps pressuring them more and more that it borderlines abusing them. And so, this season begins with how the scouts face such abuse and try to survive this cruel reality. However, this time their fight is inside the walls and their enemies are fellow human beings.
Despite being so early in the season, so much has already happened and the pace is just what I would expect of this series. Almost certainly this season will be 24 episodes, but as of yet MAL hasn’t updated it for some reason. In either case, we can expect it to have two arcs so if I find anything noteworthy in the second arc or a change of quality I will update this review.
I have mentioned a lot of hate which this anime has received justified by drawbacks found in the manga. However, the creator of AoT has already announced and I quote “Hopefully, now that season 3 is being made, I’ll have the chance to wipe away that regret and replace it with something I’m proud of.” So in case you were critical of certain weaknesses you have found in the manga, you have something to look forward to this season.
Art:
Since starting AoT, I have always been astonished by its art ever since the first episode when I got those goosebumps. Art is certainly a major strength of this series and I was afraid it would have fallen out of touch before starting this season. You can imagine my joy when I found out the art is still as beautiful as ever and has actually been polished a step further. The animation is breathtaking and the atmosphere is as bloody as ever with a tiny gap that lets in rays of happiness reflecting in the cast’s tears.
Here is a small fact about me, I am a gore maniac. Thus, seeing the bloodshed, cut skin and ripped out intestines is of outmost importance to my gore-loving self. Luckily enough, AoT doesn’t fall behind in its beautiful display of the aforementioned and, as a matter of fact, this season might be the best so far if you oddly enough share my same interests. Since the titans evaporate after being killed we don’t get a fair display of carnage, but this season seems to shine best in that regard. After so few episodes we have witnessed various colors of torture up to the number of episodes so far, this review is as of episode 6, which should be enough to please you if you are in it for the dark plot.
Sound:
The most notable thing here is that so far we didn’t have as many screams from Eren as we’ve had in previous seasons. Of course, that is to be expected given this is a more serious arc about political conflicts and struggle for power. The OST is befits the show with the OP and ED being best described as fun while the music during the show goes well with the action providing an ecstasy for any action fan.
Character development:
I don’t know about you, but Levi is one of my favorites in the series right after Hange and luckily all of the scouts have been getting an adequate amount of character development from the very beginning. We get to see them all from a new perspective because of the new enemy they are facing and how each of them is constantly changing be it for the better or the worse. I have to say, I’m enjoying Levi being a lead for this part and can affirm that if you like Levi, then you are in for a treat.
Enjoyment:
This series certainly isn’t for everyone, but if you are among the lucky ones who enjoyed the first two seasons, then shut your ears to all the hate you’ve been hearing and take my word for you will definitely enjoy this season just as much if not more than the previous ones. If you happen to be skeptical of the theme of politics hindering your dose of tantalizing action, I can tell you that the action is more than enough and more amazing than words can describe. The style we are used to is here and is polished up sharper than we have ever seen. I have been having a blast so far this season and I am sure any fan of AoT would say the same.

A comic work of art and best anime of the season, if not of the year, would be the least I can say to describe Asobi Asobase. The anime manages to show its strengths from the very beginning that I had already decided to give it a 10 after only the first episode which had me crying of laughter.
Each episode comprises of 4 parts during which we follow this squad of three middle schoolers and their adventures if so you wish to call it. Each girl has her own characteristic traits which are unique to her and the more you discover about the characters, the
...
more hilarious this anime gets.
Asobi Asobase is designed mainly for the purpose of comedy and towards that end it shines brilliantly. Not long did it take me before I made up my mind to have it among my top comedy recommendations and for it to replace Hinamatsuri as my top pick this year.
Now let’s go in detail at the art of Asobi Asobase
Story: As mentioned, the story mainly revolves around the three middle schoolers and expands the premise and their surroundings as it progresses. They mainly spend their time playing simple games such as thumb wars, for instance, which develop exponentially into crazy settings. But the anime isn’t limited to this and as more characters are introduced, the horizons it encompasses continue to grow without lacking in quality. Think of something like Nichibros and you’ll have a fairly good idea of what to expect.
Art: For any comedy to be a success, artistic talent is mandatory. And for that regard, Asobi Asobase doesn’t fall short. It features an adaptive art style which changes accordingly depending on the needs of the setting and is certainly one to remember. The girls look cute when needed, they look distorted when needed and are adorable all through.
Sound: Another aspect that was mastered here. The opening plays a tricky part in showing you this as a common CGDCT anime and then you are presented with material that contradicts the expected, but as you watch it and get to know more about the characters, in a comically breathtaking way, certain beauty starts to arise in the op making it as cute as intended to be. The ED is another thing worth noting, but I’ll leave that for you to find out. Nothing here felt out of place, be it the VAs whose job mostly involved screaming, the themes of the scenes or the execution. It all worked in a harmonious manner delivering the best Asobi experience possible.
Character development: Despite what I say about how this anime is mainly for laughs, there still is character development going in-between and during these scenes. We get to know more about the girls with each episode and their peculiar personalities that still retain their cuteness. For some reason, the characters take so short a time before I take a liking to them and feel like I know them well after just one appearance or two. This may be thanks to their personalities being simple yet entertaining, peculiar yet likable and the balancing between said traits is what makes each of them unique.
Enjoyment: Not much can be said here more than denoting the fact that this is the most enjoyable title this season without competition. It continues to astound me the more I watch it and never ceases to excel in all that it presents. If what you are looking for is a comedy anime then you have certainly come to the right place and are in for a treat as Asobi Asobase might just be the greatest find you’ll make.
If for any reason you find yourself reluctant to start this show, I urge you to at least try the first episode. Usually it takes me 4 episodes to accurately assess an anime, but in this particular case, as I have already mentioned, you can decide if this is the right anime for you after just the first one.

Laid-back RETURNS! and it's as amazing as it has ever been. What I really love about this series is its outstanding atmosphere that warms you inside and it does so impeccably. I have seen plenty of other moe anime, but yuru camp is an irreplaceable experience when it comes to the overall experience of the show.
These shorts are three episdoes. The first two being mainly about room camp that we sometimes saw parts of in the end of the episodes of the anime.
The first one talks about the beginnings of the camping club when Aki and Aoi first started it. It is in the same
...
style that we're used to and is basically a chitchat between the two about camping and its equipment so nothing new is introduced in it and nothing is missing either.
The second episode is one after Nadeshiko joined the gang and is also a chitchat episode, but we are introduced to new things about the characters especially Aoi and the loli Aoi, her sister, who makes an actual appearance this time as well. Nadeshiko almost always undeniably adds to the experience with her adorable character and I usually notice that at the scenes without her, but this episode is mostly focused on her and her cuteness so if you're a Nadeshiko fan, you're in for a treat.
Last but not least, the third episode which I would encourage you not to read my take on as the surprise factor is key sometimes so I'll start by vaguely pointing out that it isn't another room camp episode, but an actual camping one and it is one that stands out from the rest of what we have seen so far so if for any reason you don't want to watch the room camp episodes I would encourage you to at least watch this one.
Now I start talking about the episode itself. This time, the girls travel abroad to camp, but due to circumstances I won't get into detail about they end up on an uninhabited island with no means of contacting human civilization. It's time for some survival camping! But not so much. This show is yuru camp, not btoom. Even if survival camping is a unique experience I still want what I signed up for. And so they give it to us brilliantly. I have seen survival games incorporated a lot in anime, but this is definitely one to remember. Despite being stranded on an island the girls still hold it together and live through the hardships of the island as a team. They still give us the exquisite experience I'll probably never see in any other anime with such flair. It was a bittersweet episode with the slightest glimpses of the girls missing their home while still smiling so brightly and having their lightly comic moments we love.
And so this review comes to a conclusion. Bottom line, if you liked the anime just as I did, definitely give these a watch. The cute squad is here, the laid-back moments are here and the experience as a whole hasn't been demoted in the slightest, rather these shorts have added a little to what the anime might have missed and don't exist solely for the sake of it.
Side note: Give me season 2 already!

If you don't want to read through this review, then let me make it short. WATCH IT! It's amazing and I guarantee your time won't be wasted. It's so underrated and I can guarantee you this is the best anime this spring and potentially the best this year as well.
Now to the boring technicalities,
Story
What story are you expecting out of comedy? Hina is a girl who appeared to our protagonist who is a yakuza and ended up living with him for some reason or another. Just your common plot, really.
Anyhow, that doesn't really affect the quality overall. There are certain arcs for each character and
...
everyone get their own fair share of development and progress in their respective arc, but the main focus of this anime isn't about giving a moral to live by or a piece of wisdom. Go read a book if that's what you want. Here you have an anime that will make your lungs burst and potentially have you sent to the hospital. Just make sure you sue the producers if that happens.
Art
That's probably the most notable thing once you start watching the anime. The art isn't the greatest, to be frank. And at first it felt odd. It certainly is unique. However, it needs some getting used to. In the end of the day, it actually became a trademark to this anime and a characteristic trait it has.
Sound
Amazing voice acting that's on point. Expect the same level as you have seen in Gintama or dare I say even better. Certainly, couldn't have asked for better than what I was given. Each character is just too fitting in their role and you can feel everything is placed just right in its place. The OST isn't something special. It is good, but not unique as the rest of what this anime offers. However, it doesn't play any big role in the anime, anyway. So that won't affect my score.
Enjoyment
Now to the real talk. Is it enjoyable? HELL YEAH IT IS! It's one of my top anime in terms of comedy and I just started watching it on a whim. I entered completely blind and now I'm absolutely addicted. My one and only complaint is that we don't have enough of this. It's a crime that this isn't a long-running series. Leaving me with the feeling that I need to rewatch it and I just finished it is certainly unsatisfactory and not what an anime should accomplish.
Character development
As I said earlier, each character gets their own share of development. I won't go in the details here as I think this will diminish their worth once you actually get to see them. But the arcs are equally emotional and enjoyable. Certainly, the girls are the ones who get development in their arcs. Anzu being the one having the most emotional arc and the most beautiful one as well(Anzu for girl of the year).
Surprisingly though, despite Hina being the main heroine, she gets the least amount of development. But arguably this might be the most fitting for her monotone personality.
All in all,
If you went through this description then I hope you realize by now how much I'm fanboying over this anime. I haven't read the manga nor did I ever hear about this anime before this spring. I just fell in love with it because of how good it is. I wrote this review in hopes of showing you how much I love it and potentially giving you the chance to experience what I have. That being an amazing journey of laughs and tears called Hinamatsuri.
Definitely recommend watching this and will most likely rewatch it a ton of times unless they decide to make a second season.

Okay, I've seen so much criticism befall this anime so I'm going to try and be as thorough as possible with this review. I won't include spoilers, however, and will try not to mention any major events which happen through the anime so bear with me if I sound a little vague.
Story
Pardon me, but this anime is a bitch. It basically aims in any way possible to trigger those tears of yours. It's probably one of the few anime which made me cry this much that I can only think of another one. Just prepare your tissues and be ready because there is a high
...
probability that the onion ninjas will be paying you a visit.
Now to the criticism I've mentioned earlier. There has been so much hate going around over this anime and from what I've seen I think most of it for the story being "too linear" . Yes, it's not like the usual anime you'd see most of the time, but it's all a matter of perspective really. I'll advice you beforehand; try and view it as a play and not an anime and you'll find yourself being immersed into it.
One thing to note though is that the beginning of the story is nothing like what's yet to come. The first three episodes, especially, are a prelude to the anime itself and emphasize on Violet's character and describing the setting in an orderly manner. Perhaps too orderly that you'd feel quite bored at times. Because of that, I thought that all this anime was is just some quality art and breathtaking scenery, but trust me that this is far too presumptuous so at least give it five episodes before you decide to continue with it or not.
The setting of the story looks like England in the 80s, but the names of the countries, cities and even the language are all fictional to my knowledge. Since there is plenty of focus on the state of war the countries have gone through and what those wars have caused, the creators might have chosen not to mention anything that would bring up hard feelings into the story which is a wise decision if you ask me.
Okay, so now that pretty much sums up the subtle details of the story and its general idea. Now for the story itself, Violet Evergarden is a girl of about 14 *cough*underage*cough*. Back in her childhood with no parents, name or feelings she was viewed by almost everyone around her as a killing tool or a loli weapon of mass destruction who knew nothing except how to kill. She didn't even know how to speak, but all of this changed once Gilbert took her in as a gift from his brother. From that point on she was intended to be Gilbert's weapon to be utilized in army as a weapon as usual. However, Gilbert disagrees greatly with this and chooses to treat her as a proper human being. He raised her, taught her, took care of her and eventually loved her. (゜ロ゜)
What happens is that Violet is currently trying to understand emotions; love to be specific. As the major in his last breaths' confesses his love to her, but Violet couldn't understand what his words meant. Thus, begins Violet's beautiful journey to pursue pure emotions and convey them to people as she starts to understand them herself as well.
Let me tell you this, she's going to be exploring emotions alright and you'll be exploring emotions just as much so don't forget those tissues of yours. You have been warned!
Art
HoHoHo do I even need mention a thing here? The reason of all the hype before this anime came out is because of its art style. An artist's wet dream would be an understatement to its beauty. Just watch the trailer to get a solid idea of what I mean.
The scenery are extra bright and the characters are very well-polished from tip to toe. Just look at their beautiful eyes when they're not full of tears! The usage of the art style varies by episode. There are some where you'll be awestruck by the beauty and others where you won't be as much. The characters' style isn't the main beauty of this anime, but they surely look beautiful and original and I think the latter is what matters the most.
The scenery, however, will have you drooling waterfalls, which is another good reason for the tissues by the way, so unless you don't like those bright colors and overly detailed scenery, you won't be disappointed.
Character Development
I think most of what I'd say here would be redundant. Violet is probably the only character who has significant amount of development while the others don't even have that much screen time to begin with. The anime is split into two arcs, the main one where Violet faces her traumatizing history and all that she's been through and the secondary arc which is episodic to the characters Violet encounters through her journey. The secondary arc is a thousandfold more emotional than the main one and has plenty more of character development included, but that's to characters who'll only last for one episode so I'm not sure you can really call that "development". Nonetheless, their characters undergo drastic self-speculation which overflow with emotions so, if you ask me, I find it impressive how much they managed to fit into a single episode.
Sound
This is such a vital part of this anime and I don't think it I could have appreciated the beauty of it without this beautiful soundtrack. Think of it as the adhesive which connects everything into the big picture. It's almost entirely on the classical side, which I'm fond of, so you might not like it if you hate classical music, but honestly, who does?
The characters' voices are pretty good as well. I liked some more than others, but everyone fit his character and played it well. You can clearly tell the VAs were immersed in their roles and paid very close attention to the details. My favorite one was introduced in the last episode though, so I can't really say who she is without spoiling too much. If you do choose to view this anime as a play and let yourself immerse into it you'll certainly know who she is, though.
Entertainment
Despite the shed tears, spilled blood and fatal wounds, I can with all honesty tell you that this anime was indeed enjoyable. You'll probably need some light series to recover after you're done with it, but you won't regret a single moment and are sure to appreciate its beauty. It's certainly a piece of art you'll enjoy watching and an experience you'll cherish.
Watch this if: You have high tolerance to onions, You're looking for breathtaking animation, You like Slice of Life, You want an anime presented in a new perspective.
Don't watch this if: You're not into drama(VERY DRAMATIC), You don't like slow-paced story lines, You're looking for action(Really mild here), You don't have tissues.

This season was very fluctuating in terms of enjoyment. At first, It felt entirely as an OVA and not a second season. It's as if they had a big lump of OVAs so they decided to make a new season out of it. However, the last two episodes raised the bar a little bit and make the expectations for the third season quite high so with that I think it passes.
Story
As I said, it was like an OVA. The first half of the season was about Ains taking over the Lizard villages which, for me at least, was quite prolonged. It didn't seem to serve
...
much purpose to the story in overall, but we'll see how that turns out in the third season. The second Arc focuses on Sebas against an underworld organization called the Six Arms. Again, rather than focusing on the overall progression of the story, it focused more on the gap of level between Nazarick's residents and the rest of the villains and heroes in the world. The reason I found this season to have some value to it are the last two episodes which finally add some progress to the story we left in the first season.
It's really hard not to describe the first 11 episodes as pointless as it stands right now. Maybe if you've read they'd have some value to them, but as it stands right now with no third season yet, they don't seem to serve any purpose.
The first season was all about exploring the world and knowing the people who dwell it and potential dangerous enemies whom may pose a threat against Nazarick which is to be expected since that world differs greatly from the one Ains is used to. Here in the second season, instead of seeing something interesting that might add some thrill to the series, we're shown
Ains playing the cool Overlord guy.
Foes who are basically one shot kills that there was no point in even naming them.
Extremely uninteresting combat. Even between characters who're close to each other in level, they just spend 15 minutes having a little intimidating chat and 5 shouting the names of their spells; giving the actual combat a few seconds of time.
However, this changes in the last two episodes which I'm not going to describe since that'd be like spoiling the entire season's worth. However, you can expect the story to pick up where it left from there.
Art
Didn't improve much over the first season which was indeed good in its art style. If anything, it held up to the last season's standard in art style which makes it somewhat nostalgic and original. The art is a major focus of this series and this season is a proof of that since Ains wouldn't have been able to showcase his abilities and dark aura without good art.
Sound
The first season had one of my favorite OSTs which makes it difficult to compare it to the generic OST of this season. It pales greatly in comparison to the first season that it's not even a competition. Yet, it wasn't bad in general if you don't hold that high of expectations out of it.
Entertainment
In short, if you're longing for Ains' demagoguery then you won't be disappointed with this season as long as you don't mind the story being put to delay until the last two episodes. One thing I personally liked in this season is the use of more bloody deaths in comparison to the first season and I hope they do add even more in the future.
As of the time this review has been written, the third season for Overlord has already been announced for July 2018. Though, this does emphasize my theory that this whole season was a bunch of OVAs they decided to show us to quench the thirst for a sequel. I can't deny I'm quite excited to see what the third season has to offer.

Here is an example of how a prequel could ruin a new addition to a series. For all of those who watched Chaos;Head before this one you surely understand what i mean.
The only mistake this anime made was being a sequel. However, that doesn't really matter since it's not related to Chaos;Head except in order of events. From my point of view, Chaos;Head was like the introduction or trial version before creating this anime. (No I'm serious and a proof of that is the recap at the beginning of Chaos;Child where the entire season of Chaos;Head was wrapped in 20 minutes. That was not a
...
summary that was essentially the entire season in 20 minutes!).
Okay now that it's clear how unrelated this season is to the last one let's me explain what this one has to offer.
PLOT! (No not what you're thinking of) I mean real plot with twists at every single corner. Just as you think you got the idea of the anime you get hit with a plot twist that changes everything then another one afterwards and so on.
Wait, but plot twists aren't enough to make an anime all that different,no? Yep, you're absolutely right. We've got better art style now. Although I guess that's to be expected since the last season was about 10 years ago.
Okay so we got plot and art anything else? Yeah, character development as well. Chaos;Head MC character,Takumi, Was basically GAME-> HALLUCINATE -> SCREAM -> BLAME RIMI FOR IT. However our new refurbished MC, Takuru, Is an active detective-like person. He's not that much different than your typical protagonist but in comparison to Takumi he's much more suitable as a MC.
You keep on criticizing Chaos;Head all the time why did you even get into the series, dude? Psychological that is! Away with your mainstream! True that Chaos;Head wasn't my cup of tea but all the Sci-Fi candy in it encouraged me to continue with it. However, after Chaos;Child being published and since it offers almost the same amount of Sci-Fi material I thought of letting whoever wanted to continue through with Chaos;Head just for the Sci-Fi or psychological as I did. DON'T! You've got a better option now that is Chaos;Child.

I’m just going to start off with a little piece of advice. This anime is EXTREMELY chill. If you’re looking for the slightest bit of adrenaline rush then this isn’t the right one for you. However, if you’re looking for a heartwarming experience like you’ve never seen before then you’re just in the right place.
Story: Not much of a story; Rin is a student who likes to go solo camping in her free time in winter when no one else does so that she can get to enjoy the scenery and quiet all by herself. Nadeshiko meets her while she’s camping and the two become
...
friends right away. Most of the episodes are either about camping or preparing for camping in a way or another. There aren’t many characters and there is no need. It’s just a warm, cosy marshmallow of an anime and that’s all it needs to be.
Art: the drawing style matches the intention of the anime as a whole. It doesn’t give the characters too much details or a distinguishable feel to their drawing. Yet, the scenery, the main focus, is way too beautiful it’s ridiculous. Most of the campsites are around Mount Fuji, but each has a beauty of its own.
Sound: This show isn’t too conversation-focused with most of the attention given to the atmosphere and that just makes it even more natural. At times, you’ll feel as if you’re sharing the experience with Rin and the others as if you were there which makes it all the more heartwarming.
Entertainment: I’ve definitely developed an interest in camping after this anime and might try it. This is just the right dose you need after an emotional anime like Violet Evergarden so it acted as a medicine in my Thursdays. I also got to learn a bunch of stuff even if trivial about how camping is, a bunch of dishes and how beautiful the scenery in Japan is. If you’re just about to start watching this, I’d recommend getting as comfortable as possible and a warm drink for maximum enjoyment.

This anime is actually... fun. There's probably no other way to express how I felt while watching it. The message it conveys is taking the idea of a change of pace to the extreme. Simply getting out of the usual routine in order to try something new to make the most of your youth. That's what Kimarin is determined to do and that's what the story revolves around.
Story
As Kimarin constantly has these thoughts of doing something spontaneous while she's still a high schooler, whenever she actually tries to go through with it, in the end she cowers from her anxious thoughts and calls the whole
...
thing off in the last moment. That's probably the typical thing you'd expect from an ordinary person in modern society. However, after Kimarin meets Shirase, she's provided with just the right push she needed to do what she's always wanted. Furthermore, Shirase is even more strong-willed to go through with a plan even more outrageous than Kimarin's and that's going to Antarctica.
Now this covers what the story is about. Let me tell you this, I started watching this anime having no high expectations. I didn't even expect to give it a 7 in the first place, but I got more interested in it progressively and finally decided to give it a shot after some time. To my shock, it's absolutely immersive. I had no idea it took all this effort and preparation to go to Antarctica in the first place. I also had no idea about how amazing of an experience going there can be. I mean, at first glance the whole idea is just about snow, penguins and that's it. Not many amusing thoughts come to mind when you imagine going to Antarctica. Yet, this anime proves just how unique such an experience can be.
Art
This was the main reason of my disinterest in this anime. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad in itself and the scenery look gorgeous. However, the characters, especially Shirase, give certain unintentional vibes because of their art style. An example of that is that smug of Shirase in the trailer which is supposed, in this case, to be an ambitious, passionate type of smile. Anyway, you'll get used to something like this in no time so that's no reason to lose interest in this anime. In fact, it somehow makes it unique that despite something like that it still conveys its message beautifully.
Character Development
I didn't expect any character development from the way the few first episodes were progressing. However, the anime plot's progress is basically
The problems of going to Antarctica > The difficulties along the trip to Antarctica > How the life in Antarctica looks > An episode of development for each character > The Epilogue
If you ask me, it's actually really impressive how much they've fit in there within such a short span of time. Moreover, it didn't feel the slightest bit of rushed and continued to maintain a relaxed atmosphere to it.
Entertainment
It's a very amazing anime. If you're interested in seeing a journey to somewhere new with plenty of comedy, sincere friendship and heartfelt emotions, then look no further for this anime might just be what you're looking for.
If you feel revolted somehow by the animation style or fear that the story might end up uninteresting or boring, fear not. I can tell you that in terms of consistency in development and story-progress this anime is very balanced.

I’ve no idea how I didn’t notice this title earlier. It probably got swarmed by a number of other titles, but honestly it’s become a favorite of mine and would definitely recommend watching it. I’ll note out a number of things beforehand, though. This anime’s mere existence breaks the fourth wall and it’s probably the first title to take it even a step further and break the fifth wall (you’ll get what I mean as soon as you see it). One more thing is that people who’re easily offended probably aren’t going to enjoy this. It talks a lot about god, creation and existence and
...
the story revolves a lot around these.
Story: Amazing in every way! Truly an enjoyable one and unique at that as well. The story is basically Hutton’s paradox as an anime. Where stories turn into worlds and merge with the real world which in turn is an anime you’re watching which makes you think you’re part of the anime all the time. Although the story seems to be really crazy, it’s actually very carefully made and presented and it didn’t even use the regular “Anime Logic” we see in most other titles. It explained every abnormality and made reason out of it which is something I find admirable.
Art: Two words, BUDGET OVERLOAD! Seriously, throughout the entire thing the animation has amazed me. The fight scenes are so fluid and smooth, each character is well-drawn and despite the fact that I never enjoyed those exaggerated superpowers in any other series, I have to admit that they were an essential part to this anime. One more thing I liked is that despite many types of characters from different genres were brought in together in one the art style felt so natural for them and none felt out of place.
Sound: A great OST here. I, myself, prefer it when they use classical music or something smooth, which they did at times, but they used a larger variety of music in order to befit the general atmosphere of the anime. As long as nothing seemed out of place, which is the most important thing an anime like this needs to be wary of, then it gets a thumbs up from me.
Character development: Here’s where this anime was about to make me hate it. We have different characters who don’t even come close to each other and are polar opposite natures, yet the story manages to bring them all together in a way that they actually feel related to each other and the story which is good. My favorite character here was Magane who was, indeed, exceptionally developed and you could see the many contradictive aspects of her personality and her true nature gradually growing.
Then what disturbed me here? It’s the MC, he’s supposed to be a shy and timid person with a gentle demeanor. However, from the events I’ve seen he’s practically a wuss. Moreover, the entire cast are continuously comforting him through the show with no effect whatsoever. He’s definitely in my top 5 MCs I hate. In either case, he’s not given much screen time compared to every other character in the show that he barely even feels like a MC so I won’t hold that against the anime as a whole.
Thus comes the conclusion of this review, this anime is definitely amazing and a must-watch if you’re looking for something with:
-Great action scenes
-Psychological plot that’s consistent
-Plenty of drama and feeling eruptions
-OP antagonist loli
This anime is probably not for you if you are:
-Looking for something with romance
-Not a fan of psychology
-Easily offended
