Alright, this kind of HAS to be here. The format of the show is not that much similar, however, the background stories of the main characters and the underlying theme of meeting in another life, not to mention the whole Princess plot and various kingdoms in different dimensions/on different planets, gives me a very similar vibe.

If you are a Maho Shoujo lover and you enjoyed either of those, you will enjoy the other. Both shows are introducing us to a group of schoolgirls who have to deal with daily girly problems, but also fight evil whenever and wherever it appears. Both Sailor Moon and Mai-HiME put huge emphasis on the importance of friendship and show us some beautiful, world-shattering romance plots.

If you enjoy watching Binan Earth Defense club adventures, Dai Mahou Touge is a Must-see! Both of these are absurd, extreme variations of mahou-shoujo genre. Both of these show you some food talking and walking around instead of peacefully lying on your plate.

High school anime paroding stereotypical characters and their relationships. What else can I say.. The type of humor, the lenght of episodes (or "sketches"), typical "highschool" situations, unrequited love... If you were falling off your chair with laughter because of one, the same will probably happen with the other.

If you crave seeing your favorite badass characters in unreal, embarrasing situations - in animal costumes or crossdressing, this is what you're looking for. And if you'll behave like a nice kid, maybe some crazy villain will come out of their way and join this stupid play called fanservice...

'Not your average harem' is what I think about both of these shows. Both of them present us few specific female characters, each having couple of their own episodes, plus the main hero, who is leading us through the whole story/ies, dealing with their complicated personalities, fulfilling their wishes or solving their problems, or just tagging along. All of it resulting in gaining mutual sympathies. And in both stories, the main hero 'gets' the most difficult character as the first one, I would say. Despite being average-looking shoolboy with 'too nice' personality.

How is this NOT similar? Bunch of people who get together for all kinds of different reasons, go through some kind of change to be able to transport to special place, where they fight evil enemy aliens. Plus some human problems like relationships, boobs, revenge... In both cases, lot of them die (quickly AND painfully), but selected few go through some nice character development.

Both have dark haired cool (or cold, choose) main hero with hidden identity and "secret job", who is overpowered. There are also some imouto issues, lot of stereotypical side characters and running away from past. The similarity in setting: It's postapokalyptic, there are two types of people (contractors and magicians vs. "normal") and there is significant military involvement.
