When it comes to a lot of shounen, the bulk of the fights themselves are action packed and always entertaining. That's not to say the struggles here aren't also a long battle, but both Haikyuu and My Hero have a rather large emphasis on emotional buildup through the fight; while the struggling back and forth and the long battles are here as in many other shounen, the best moments in these battles are usually due to the emotional impact of that final finishing blow or rush. They've also both got a similar mix of lightheartedness and serious tension.

If you like either of these shows, you probably enjoy some quick slice of life shorts. That's exactly what both of these are - both of these anime could probably be finished in an hour. I personally don't laugh out loud a lot in general, but I genuinely appreciated the humor in both of these and the dynamics between characters are charming in both. I wouldn't say either of these shows are exceptional, but they're both short, enjoyable experiences with fun disconnected short stories held together loosely by somewhat of a general continuity with the story.

If you liked one of these shows, I feel like there's a good chance you'll like the other. Monogatari is more supernatural and bizarre while Oregairu is more grounded in reality and focused on drama, but when it comes to character they're both have somewhat similar appeal. Both Araragi and Hachiman have their long inner monologues and surprisingly deep personalities and are known for them accepting their somewhat defeatist attitudes on life and self sacrificing natures. While they do act pretty differently, I did quite like their take on being loners and felt similarly watching the both of them. Both series also have their loner main character grow and develop in a coming-of-age esque story through the people they meet and help, and this relationship development with multiple characters is a rather important part of both series. Witty banter and fun dialogue is also prevalent in both.
