2 years after my leave from my anime community, K-ON has somehow wiggled it's way into my daily life yet again. Now, I at least have some wisdom to write a formal review (unlike 2 years ago *shudder*).

K-ON! is a moeblob anime targeted for the shojo audience, but does have some seinen elements like its manga counterpart. Being in the shojo demographic myself, I found it very appealing, enojoyable, and somewhat relatable. The art is good, being managed by KyoAni, with a proper amount of chibi scenes and vivid animeaation during EDs/OPs (great detail in individual playing). However, during the start of the anime, ... there is some asymmetry and choppy frames. The sound is great as well, songs made to fit with the feel of the anime. The lyrics can get a little too fluffy/meaningless. Songs from the soundtrack really make up for that, though. The character development is pretty good in most areas, except for Yui and Mugi. There is great chemistry between Mio and Ritsu, and some other underlying yuri tones help bring other good chemistry out from the other characters (totally not biased because of my love of yuri). But Yui and Mugi I feel don't go through as much change as the others. Yui is always ditsy with her occasional sense of "this is what I was meant to do" and "this group is my destiny" in key areas, but I feel her personality is too moe and cliche. Mugi has barely any background and sometimes I feel like she's there just to provide the club deus-ex-machina-esque moments. Besides that, she only has the small lines which barely make an impact on the overall story.
But, the enjoyment (for my age at least) is a 10. I really felt like the everyday adventures of the club were easy to watch for me, relaxing. However, don't expect Evangelion, because you aren't going to get many poetic moments or major gravity in the show, as that's not what it's about.
The story is, as I said before, great for shojo and/or slow-going slice of life lovers, but can appeal to grown men if they like moeblob.
Overall, it's an 9 from me, regardless of how much I love this show (I really love this show).

Watamote is a very strange, darkly comical, and deep story. The manga, being compared to the anime, is classified mostly as comedy revolving around a lonely life, while the anime actually dives into the very real depression of exactly that. This anime is seen as extremely saddening, yet relatable to some, but heartwarming or comedic to others. Trying to be an optimist, I see it the second way. It's pretty uncommon when anime makes me laugh, but this one had me rolling. The comedic aspect of this also refers to the first way people see it, aka the relatability. I was laughing because Tomoko was ... so relatable, her problems were extremely embarrassing, and having been through some of them myself the redness in my face was starting to grow from both laughing and embarrassment. But, even though this anime started out a comical comic, it turned into something dark, yet lesson teaching.

Above all the terrible situations Tomoko has been through, one episode *cough* (Spoiler Alert) Episode 11 *cough* really showed that someone actually acknowledged Tomoko, and uses the age-old reassurer "Someone out there likes you" in a very heartwarming, beautiful, and tear-jerking way. Though the downfall of this anime was that it didn't have a second season to build on that.
