Yakin Byoutou, also known as Night Shift Nurses (karte) is a show that could be compared to a paraguayan's yerba mates. Do you like unconventional, but still somewhat grounded tastes? Just like the drink, it will make you feel digust and regret at first, but the more you indulge in this media, the more appealing it becomes and the more you might appreciate it.
Most unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure to interact with a source material, but I feel like the adaptation took a joint effort and love of all the sides of the production process. From how the story is written an executed, to
...
how it is animated. Up until the point of finding this piece of art, there was almost no pornographic material which got me so involved, most of the new hentai are just shiny, slimy candy for an eye, with a repetitive strokes of a shlong. Night Shift Nurses (NSN for short) features love for expressing a motion, a school of Myron, thought to be lost in newer hentais has remained in this media. While the animation is not that candy-like, it features a decent animation and pure act of the process. The rough, old fashioned visuals add to the bitter flavor of the setting the show is played in.
NSN is not only carried by how it is presented, a somewhat compelling story with some twist or few has been nested inside this disgusting piece of art. A story featuring credulity and exploitation, as well as mental assault are a refreshing gust of the wind, in the genre so overrun by only eye stimuluses. On top of it, in my humble opinion voice actors pulled out a decent performance, expressing the emotions of the doctor, as well as the broken spirit and lust of the girls.
Now a word of forewarning and possible a spoiler, as to why I called this media disgusted, as though I might seem in love with it. It does future a few situations that might not be pleasant for a normie Andy, such as golden shower, excrements and mentioned before - abuse.
If you are looking to watch something unconventional, yet grounded (with no fantasy attached) and brutal, this is definitely a show you should've given a try long before.

Oh the artwork! Such the amount of amazing fan-made illustratrion! And the show trailer, sure gets the hopes up! With recognition and that many people praising it, surely it must be at least decent, right? Well... It's not that simple.
At the start, I must admit that premise does sound interesting, just like synopsis on the website, it gives the foundation for compelling story. That being said, for the time I spent with this work, it doesn't really expand upon the story, after the introduction, for the few next volumes it repeats the same scheme. Choreography of the fights is in my opinion the strongest part
...
of the work in terms of general appeal, even though it's the best in its own merits, I wouldn't say it's outstanding on a grander scale - comparing to other works.
The visual aspect of the fight, as well as the rest of the work is mediocre, it's not bad by any means, but it also doesn't leave the reader in awe. Seeing the "theme" section on the website featuring gore leaves me baffled, as it contains some violence and "aftermath of a good fight", it didn't left me with any feeling after watching a good work of gore.
Character art really shines, compared to other aspects, it's good. That being said character development at least up until the point I read is close to non existent, it's really shame as I feel that good character arc could help lift up the story a bit and expand on the world.
Having said all that about technical aspects, how does enjoyment comes off? I would say it varies greatly depending on the reader. For me, looking for a decent story, interesting world and well exposed characters, with a decent amount of good gore, I would say it's greatly disappointing and a waste of time. For people looking for another shounen, it might as well be one of more interesting works out there.
If I were to compare my experience while reading it, I would say it was like watching blindfolded SAO or the Lost show while being 10 years old. The story is cryptic, everything happens too fast, just like there have been some time leaps in the chapters. It really feels like wasted potential.

Sometimes it happens that the show, which seems to have pretty bad reputation comes out pretty fun and enjoyable and for me, it's one of these.
Juuni Taisen at the first glance looks pretty much like an action (?) anime, but it seems to not really have enough budget to fill the demand of people looking only for slaughter.
To be honest I felt, that it's more like psychological anime, contemplating about morality, ideologies, etc.
Story of the anime is quite simple and straight forward, it's not the spine of the show, more like an ingredient required because of the form.
Just a mediacore story, with not much of
...
development going from the point A, to B.
Art also doesn't look bad, but neither it does look stunning.
It's a little 'edgy', just like some could describe it, gloomy colour palette, 'modernistic' type, with some budget cuts that didn't really interrupt much.
Anime contains some 3D animation, don't worry though, I didn't feel like it was overused and I barely noticed it (one episode might overuse it!).
Sound is perfectly generic, nothing that would make my ears bleed and also nothing that would make me look for the songs or tunes over the internet.
Character, hmm... That's hard to really describe. Basically all more or less important characters have some backstory, to which we could refer. Some of it is also a filler for a screentime, but I believe that, depending on the receiver, you might relate to their cause a little bit more or less.
Even though some stories might look futile, I feel like it might have been necessary to ask and answer some questions by itself. Whenever you like it or not, it depends on your personal preferences.
I must say, that I enjoyed quite a lot, even though there were some filler scenes that I skipped or just ignored, the show kept my attention for most of the time. I wasn't really curious about who will win, it was more about the war within and confrontation of the contrasts.
The further part might contain spoilers, since it refers to the last episodes of the show.
Taking on point my personal experience with it, the final lesson given by the winner shows us the situation with no 'good' way out.

The sequel I desired, but not the sequel I expected it to be.
Pretty much the show starts off with a big thump, direct continuation from the first season. As strongly and unexpectable it could be, the rest of the show didn't follow the tempo.
At the start we are getting familar with an old-new, even greater threat than before. To be honest I felt like it was the most generic way the show could possibly go and further on I realized I was right.
Post-intro part gets only slower and slower while implementing stuff which doesn't feel that important for the main plot.
A LOT clichés for fantasy-supernatural
...
anime world has been used, not many explanations that I wanted and some that looked like a filler... Well I feel like vast part of this season was one big filler.
Getting to the point, I didn't notice much of the story development (possible spoiler here: show ends in like half of what it wanted to tell!), not much of the character development (well, it tries to tell us about one thing, it tells but then it repeats it over and over in next episodes).
As long as the story is not doing its best, it can be still quite enjoyable.
Getting to the art, I don't know if the previous season was similar, but I noticed quite a few scenes here and there that were literally boring which lead my attention to focus on the art and what I noticed was poverty... It's understandable to make some cuts on the less important moments or backgrounds, while focusing on the first plan, but... Literally when making some 'fill in' dialogue, scene is one and long frame, with almost none movement, probably they expected to cover it with some nudity.
I would say that it's fair most of the time with some really awful moments.
I'm not really good with rating sounds, so I'm gonna say that it's avarage with some good tracks and openings.
Character development feels poor, focusing on few and neglecting all the rest, not much to say without a spoilers, but I didn't learn many new things about most of the cast. Good example of decent character introduction, but poor development (that was present all the time) is Escanor - such potential, mysterious and undiscovered character has been revealed with flat backstory, well, atleast his behaviour was interesting, but not much time was invested in that.
Coming to the end, show is fine, enjoyable but it got noticable flaws, that make it taste like an undercooked pork.

This is my first review, I got an urge desire to write it as soon as I completed 6th episode. I will try to avoid or warn about spoilers that will be included in the review. It's supposed to be subjective. not objective, so it's highly possible, that you will not agree with things that I wrote.
Introduction:
I was really amazed after watching first episode, I thought that it would be one of the better shows at the moment, however episode by episode I was getting more and more disappointed.
Story:
First episode really hyped me about the serie, even though I do not like anime with fan
...
service elements this seemed to be decent one.
I got everything I could imagine, story as well. It looked like atleast avarage script: main storyline, a piece of mystery and unknown history of the characters.
In the next episode I was feeling really sad about the development, the point of mystery has been revealed very fast - didn't have time to try and solve it by myself, storyline got worse - nothing more surprised me, new threads that has been introduced had less and less sense, it got dumber and some situations happened out of blue, without any backgrounds just appeared on the stage like a block of ice on a desert.
Art:
I can't say anything special about the art, it was nice, not bad. Just like one of those generic shows that are airied to just exist, without further purpose. I didn't pay big attention to details, but the art didn't delight me and didn't disappoint as well.
Sound:
There weren't any tracks that would caught my curiousity, opening music seems mediacore to me as well. For me it's one of those shows that the only purpose is to watch and forgot after a week.
Characters:
It's one of those things that made me really sad about the whole.
At the beggining we get a few characters that could be developed great...
But they aren't.
After the second or thrid episode we realize that the main character is one of those pseudo badass characters, who is legitimately OP, everything that he's doing ends good, there is no bad ending for his actions.
Another character is a grey haired (for the next few lines there might be a minor spoiler) tsundere girl, aka notice me pedophile senpai, the thing is that the senpai is not a pedophile.
So yeah, she is just another "person", that is supposed to be a part of the background and support to main character, wasted opportunity to make this show better.
Blonde girl is pretty similar to previous one, just a character that needs a protection and needs being supervised by the hero 24/7. Nothing much to tell about them.
Enjoyment:
First episode really caught my attention and curiousity, however any further made me want to turn of the show and drop it as soon as possible.
Just another generic show that doesn't give me any joy at all, because of earlier overused jokes and clichés.
TL;DR | Summary
First episode seemed to be great, the rest were generic poop.
Story 2/10
Art 6/10
Sound 5/10
Characters: 3/10
Enjoyment: 3/10
Overall:
Personally, basing on my own feelings I would give this show 1/10, but on the other hand thanks to an avarage art and sound I'm giving it 3/10.
