It had a very strong start with a likable protagonist and some interesting supporting characters, and some very beautiful art… the problem came when the antagonists were introduced and the plot started to thicken.
The antagonists’ are boring and enraging, their motivations are stupid and their behavior is disgusting to read. This manga committed the mistake of making everyone too dumb in order to make a wannabe-kira-like genius like the president shine.
The president lacks the charisma to be likable or a good backstory to make us at least understand his actions. He doesn’t have those things, he is just an annoying kid trying to act like

a genius who is playing god while everyone else is too dumb to even realize it and stop him. The vice-president is just there to follow the stupid president’s plans like a dog, and no, her backstory isn’t good either, they just made a walking trope of the “I’ll do anything if it’s for your sake” side villain. It’s boring and gross to read.
Had this story decided to focus on more interesting things like Minatsuki’s relationship with her dad or her new found friends and it would have kept its touch and quality, but the author decided to go for a cheap Death Note with dumb characters without progress.
