Step away,whiny otaku males , this shounen is for the girlies.

I usually dont write reviews to anime,despite being on this site since 09.
But I feel like this anime deserves more positive reviews and many of the *cough* male *cough* reviewers just didnt get it.

this anime is a BLAST. from the first episode to the last one,you WILL have fun.
Its lewd,it's crass,it's morbid - but its done in such a charming way , nothing comes out distateful.
it's also quite romantic , but not in a super annoying shoujo manner , which makes it even better.

I would consider this anime a feel good anime [for adults,ofc] ...
it doesnt challenge you too much emotionally but it still takes you on a fun ride , and after watching so many forgetable shows for so many years - when something makes you feel good,you just gotta give it its flowers.

so this one is a 9 for me. will reccomend to anyone i know.

I've been on this website for almost 15 years and never wrote a review.
But i've seen one popular reivew, that got me so riled up to the point I had to.
I'm talking about "AstralBread"s take, disregarding this anime as a fail attempt for being artsy.
This to me screams emotional detachment from the subject matter.
I decide for the sake of this reivew ... to disregard the most sci-fi elements of the show, and focus solely on the intent behind this whole show.
I refuse to believe "subtle" is part of why we watch anime.
Anime isn't meant to be subtle. anime a medium that's in your face.
There is nothing wrong with the author wanting to send out a clear message,when the message is so damn important in real life.
The message is "PLEASE LIVE,PLEASE KEEP FIGHTING"
I dont give a damn if the message is "too blunt" or "in your face"

All the girls in the show are pre-adolesence females,13-14 year olds are the age range that is most vurnable to self harm,not only in japan.
That is why it's an egg priority. because,those young girls are as tender as an egg and they should be society's priority.
when you put aside the main plot line,that is much similiar to madoka,
where madoka felt like it catered to anyone,this show feels different,
It feels like it's speaking to the girls in that age and although i'm 25 years old and throughly enjoyed it,I can't help but think about the same suicidial 14 year old I was watching this show and for the first time in her life, feeling understood.

So to me,putting aside the beautiful art,the interesting story line and the cool battle scenes,
to me,this show is a 10/10 because it can save lives. i'm sure of it.

Can you over come appearance for the one you like?

Lovely complex is one of the best shoujo anime ive seen,
Simply because it is the most realistic one ive seen.
And yet,Its defintely not like any other shoujo anime.

We all have our imprefections,Our flaws,Our insecurities,
We all suffered from it,And tried our hardest to accept it.

Lovely complex teachs us that in order to accept others flaws,we have to accept ours first.

While risa,embraced her flaws [as much as a teenager can],and willing to embrace otani`s flaws,Otani rejects her,But she keeps trying,

Deep down,Otani still hasnt accepted that hes short,Thats why he yet able to embrace risa,with all her flaws.

But risa dosent give up,She shows ambition no matter how much it hurts to be rejected over and over.

Slowly,Otani`s guards tembling down,And he gets a little closer to risa

But can they overcome all of the obstacles in their way to a teen love?

Story :
The story is simply,outstanding.
It is unique,Realistic,Ironic yet dramatic story
The story is basically about risa,who is the tallest girl in class,And otani,the shortest boy in class,They have this love x hate friendship,but they are very alike,They are both the clowns pair,funny,loud and energtic.
everyone in class thinks theyre perfect for each other,except...Well, them.
Up untill risa slowly finds out that she has feelings for otani,And does everything she can to make him hers.
And its not all pink and butterflies,Because otani`s cold cocky attitude is in the way,And he keeps rejecting her in idiotic ways.

Art :
The art is very colorful,Very fun,yet realistic shoujo like
I personally liked the character design alot,
Same as in the manga.

Characters :
Every character has its own special extreme ways,But they all in the same line of realism the anime stands,Theyre emotions and expressions can make you laugh hard and sob like a crybaby
You can easily relate to all of them,no matter who you are.

Enjoyment :
Watching this anime was insightful for me,
I cried,i laughed,i got angry,i felt alot while watching this
Its hard for me to relate to anime characters and this time it came naturally to me.
I wish it had second season because i felt like it wasnt enough

I reccomend this anime to everyone,boys and girls,All ages.
